Islamic law stipulates that the Muslims may ask for a truce when they’re losing and need time to gain strength and fight again more effectively. Western analysts who find these signals from Iran tempting should view them in light of that fact.
“Report: Iran urgently signaling to Israel and US that it wants talks, end to hostilities,” Times of Israel, June 16, 2025:
Iran has been urgently signaling that it seeks an end to hostilities and resumption of talks over its nuclear programs, sending messages to Israel and the United States via Arab intermediaries, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday, citing officials.
The report quotes officials as saying that Tehran has told Arab officials they would be open to returning to the negotiating table as long as the US doesn’t join the hostilities.
They also sent messages to Israel saying it is in the interest of both sides to keep the violence contained….
captain Quirk says
So presently Iran is the beggar. Benji should put Israel’s boot on Iran’s neck and keep on pressing.
Keys says
At this point, no “talks”, no “negotiations”. Been doing that fruitlessly for decades.
An unconditional surrender, or “meet all these conditions now” are the only acceptable terms.
The longer this goes on, the more China and Russia are able to give support for an unacceptable ending. China has already proposed taking their already enriched uranium, etc.
Rich says
Talks only after verification of them blowing up every missile & delivery system, and every below ground nuclear site AND supreme leader kissing Netanyahu’s ass in public.
James Lincoln says
Yes, Rich.
And Khamenei must publicly state that he admires Jews, has become an apostate from islam, and wishes the very best for both Israel and United States.
Otherwise, the war goes on…
Rich says
Sounds reasonable.

Just like hamas, an arm of iran, they are lying in order to regroup and get more ammo from russia and turkey.
It’s a ruse….a pretend White flag.
In war, the loser might “sue for peace,” and really mean it. iran doesn’t mean it. They just want time.
The goal is “death to Israel,” and they have not reached it; so they lie.

So correct you are. Iran want’s to regroup and rebuild their ability to attack Israel. It is time to take them back to their beloved time of the 1400’s where they want to be.

Israel must not be duped into accepting this “hudna,” what Arafat always referred to as an updated Muhammad’s “Peace of the Quraysh”…a
temporary ceasefire which will allow these genocidal maniacs to acquire new ballistic missiles and such from China, North Korea,, and Russia already promised nuclear reactors to them for “civilian use.”
Dimwitkoff will fall for this. Trump must not.
Israel must demand that the mullahs sit face to face with the Jews who’ve been blasted and terrorized by scores of thousands of their crickets, drones, missiles and so forth by Iran itself and its proxies.
DIRECT talks is how true peace is made between enemies.
Jeffrey r fixler says
The answer must be a firm no unless a couple of prerequisites are met BEFORE any such ceasefire talks. Namely, that Iran hand over all uranium enriched beyond 5%, and that all , and I mean ALL,, nuclear sites are open to inspection without restrictions. If the Mullahs meet those conditions, then talks may proceed, but not before.
rick says
The radical Islamic regime realizes that the end if nearing for them. Now they would love to start talks and end the dismantling of their corrupt and regime of Hate. The better solution is a “We Surrender Unconditionally” with an invitation to enter Fordow and blow it up together. Oh, and don’t forget a promise for the mullahs to retire from holding office in Iran and retire to their country estates paid for in the same way President Biden paid for his estates. The only alternative to that is retiring to their prison cells.

This time, just say no! They don’t get to be as belligerent as they want when things are good, and cry “uncle” when things get ugly
One report I saw was that the IDF had taken out Iranian state TV while it was live. Nothing signals the people that the regime is collapsing like such a move. Reminds me of when the US bombed Saddam’s palace in Baghdad in 2003, and there was radio silence from the Iraqi leadership. Next day, crowds were pulling down Saddam’s statue at the center of Baghdad

Saw Maria Bartiroma’s interview yesterday w/ Reza Pahlavi, the aging crown prince of Iran (whose father was ousted in 1979). He is said to have a plan to transition Iran & prevent it from falling into chaos should the regime fall. I however am not rooting for his return to power, since he’s still a devout muslim, even if nowhere near Khamenei. Rather, I’d like to see a regime that starts out secular, bans islam and slowly drifts towards Zoroastrianism

Might be a tad late on that one.
Muffley, I thought only I [as president] had the authority to order the use of nuclear weapons.
Turgidson, That’s right, sir. You are the only person authorized to do so. And though I hate to judge before the facts are in, – it looks like General Ripper exceeded his authority. Far beyond the point I would have imagined possible.

The Iranian opposition channels on Telegram are showing nationwide violent demonstrations. Republican Guardsmen have thrown in with the demonstrators. The Religious police are being massacred. These opposition groups are aiding Israel by tracking the locations of Iranian officials slated to be eliminated. These same sites are now reporting that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has been eliminated. There is no confirmation of this. With what I am seeing on these Telegram channels, I am convinced the Iranian Theocracy is falling.

I saw a report that he was being moved from bunker to bunker. Perhaps he was “busted” during one of the moves.
࿗Infidel࿘ says
As I linked above, Iranian state TV went off air while it was live. That sort of thing pretty much tells the viewing public that it’s over. Last night, on @X, I saw a video of some Iranian yutes on a roof watching the Israelis bombing regime sites, while enjoying popcorn 🍿 (not the usual kubideh or bareh). Which makes me tend to agree w/ you that this regime is collapsing, even while it cries “uncle”
I saw one news that he had been moved w/ his family to a bunker in northeast Teheran, and may remain on the move. It would be great if he fell in the hands of dissidents who then give him the Gadaffi treatment (incidentally, I do think that Gadaffi didn’t deserve it), or if he were taken out by an Israeli bomb while he was in transit
In the meantime, Israel should start hunting members of the Iranian cabinet, like their Foreign minister, so that there is no one in the regime left to plead for peace. Let the Iranians determine who their leader is, and let that team talk to Israel as well as the US on this issue of both nukes, as well as support to terror groups outside Iran
commonsense says
Agree wholeheartedly, Infidel.

I am watching on Flight Radar 24, what little has their location transponders on, you can see the entire might of the USAF is on its way to the Middle East. B-2s are already in Diego Garcia along with the GPU-57A/B 30,000-pound bunker busters that only they can carry. 2 of these bunker busters dropped on the same target can penetrate more the 400 feet, even through 200 feet of concrete.
David Grisez says
The big problem is the ayatollah leadership of Iran cannot be trusted. The ayatollah leadership will do anything they can to preserve what is left of their nuclear program and continue the nuclear program until they have thermonuclear weapons to use against Israel and other nations.
John Smith says
Trump has been doing his best to stop Israel from attacking Iran, and Netanyahu is not too happy about it so he said to Trump. “Don’t stop me now, don’t stop me now, cos I’m having a ball, don’t stop me now, cos I don’t wanna stop at all.”
Anyway I don’t know what Trump’s reply is going to be to that, but it doesn’t look like Netanyahu wants to stop.
Transmaster says
Reports are that Trump and Netanyahu let it be known that Trump was not going to allow Israel to attack, except that is not what happened. Trump was purposely deceiving the Mullahs. When you look at what Israel did, it is going to be a battle plan that will be studied in the US service war colleges and the National Defense University for decades to come. Israel, with its knowledge of Iran’s air defense systems, was able to take all of it out. With Israeli Air superiority, the USAF can send in B-2 bombers dropping GPU-57 bunker busters on Fordow, which only the GPU-57 can reach.
This is going to have another great result. It will school the Jihadists in the Middle East that Israel is perfectly capable of defending itself.
Treereen says
LOL! If the mullahs fall before Glastonbury Festival, will there be chants there to “bring back the theocracy!” from all the ignorant fools? The same crowd that chants “open the borders” while surrounded by a multi-million pound fence with guards and watchtowers to keep marauders out and off their personal property.

When the Iranian tv station was on air and attacked by the IDF, I found it was quite ironic that somebody shouted “Allahu akbar” after the explosion. Did he praise his false god for destroying the tv station by the IDF?
He should curse his Allah instead for not being able to protect the tv station. Clearly his Allah is very uncapable of everything.
