Hasain O. has 86 entries on his criminal record. What are the chances that he will ever be a loyal citizen of the society of “the most vile of created beings” (Qur’an 98:6)? Clearly he has utter contempt for French law, for as a Muslim, he is one of “the best of people” (Qur’an 3:110).

The attack caused no injuries, but it left a deep impression. On Tuesday, June 17, around 6:30 p.m., in Ambazac, a small town in the northern Haute-Vienne department, a man entered a church alone. Visibly agitated, he directly attacked the worshippers present in the place of worship, hurling abuse and insults, and, above all, threatening them. “If you move, you’re dead!” he shouted at one of them, before denouncing the Church’s alleged support for “the Israelis” and calling members of the religious institution “pedophiles.”
Before leaving the scene, the individual concluded with an explicit threat: “We’ll kill you all one day.” Witnesses, shocked, immediately alerted law enforcement. No injuries were reported, but fear remained entrenched. A system was quickly put in place to locate the individual. Around 8:30 p.m., the man was spotted and arrested without incident on the street, according to JDD.
He was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was initially placed in a drunk tank before being taken into custody. Identified as Hasein O., born in 1968, he is well known to the police, with no fewer than 86 entries in the TAJ (criminal record processing) for various offenses: theft, burglary, receiving stolen goods, death threats, carrying a knife, and violence. He is not registered in the FSPRT (reporting file for the prevention of terrorist radicalization), which raises questions about the nature of his remarks, which are tinged with virulent political and religious rhetoric.
This episode is part of a series of worrying attacks targeting places of worship, particularly churches, which are often relegated to the status of news stories despite their increasing frequency. In a climate burdened by the aftershocks of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and rising identity tensions, the attack in Ambazac serves as a reminder of a disturbing truth: even in the heart of the French countryside, freedom of worship is no longer guaranteed.

And exactly what are you, the government, going to do with this nut case who threatens church goers? I assume nothing until the day he does kill someone. But entering a church threatening to kill everyone, is not a small thing. But perhaps the French think it is nothing and not worthwhile being concerned about at all.

Not knowing the remainder of his criminal record, I cannot know whether alcohol consumption, which is forbidden by the Qur’an, is habitual with him – but if it isn’t, then his recent behaviour should raise a red flag – because the 9/11 pilots led lives of great licence during the period immediately beforehand, on the basis that they were gearing up to do something that would so please Allah that all other peccadilloes would be benevolently overlooked.
