Whether, and when, will Israel find itself compelled to strike Iran? And what will Washington do to help? Gregg Roman makes the argument that the decision will be a matter of days, not weeks. You can find his discussion here: “Days, Not Weeks: Israel’s Imminent Attack on Iranian Nuclear Sites,” by Gregg Roman, Middle East Forum, May 24, 2025:
On October 26, 2024, Israeli airstrikes destroyed all of Iran’s aerial defense systems, including its Russian S-300 batteries. For now, Iran is more vulnerable to attacks from the air than at any time since the beginning of the regime.
That moment has effectively arrived. Iran’s breakout timeline severely strains the utility of continued negotiation. Each round buys Tehran time while Jerusalem’s patience evaporates. The phrase circulating in Israeli military circles is chillingly simple: It’s now a matter of days, not weeks.
I wish otherwise. I wish diplomacy alone could secure our interests and Israel’s survival. But wishing accomplishes nothing against a regime that threatens annihilation while pursuing the means to achieve it.
The world very soon may awaken to explosions over Iranian nuclear sites—a pivotal moment that will test Western resolve to prevent nuclear proliferation through sustained pressure combining Israeli military action with comprehensive American-led isolation. The alternative includes Iranian nuclear weapons, regional conflagration, and Chinese and Russian strategic gains at American expense.
Sometimes inaction disguised as prudence proves most dangerous. This week tests that truth. May our leaders internalize these lessons before time expires, and may we possess the resolve to see through what must be done.
I hope that Mr. Roman is wrong, and that Iran will come to its senses, so that such a preemptive strike on its nuclear facilities will not be necessary. The thought of Iranian missiles striking Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Haifa is intolerable. I fear that he is right.

I hope our friends in Israel 🇮🇱 blow the mad Iranian regime AND their nuclear capabilities straight to Hell.
Other nations have nuclear weapons as defensive deterrence. ONLY the criminals in Iran look to use nuclear bombs as offensive weapons. Difference!
Islamic 7th-century “thinking” cannot be reasoned with. They will use their ten nuke weapons to force the world to bend to their will, so they believe.
I will die shouting the name of Jesus Christ in their ears before I give in to Irrational Iran!
MJ Raichyk, PhD says
Where Is the assessment of the EXTENT of the NUKE CONTAMINATION from such a mission to ”destroy” Iran’s expectably massive accumulated material…??
Couldn’t such a catastrophy that’s possible do exactly the opposite?
What about the other Arab countries that already signed those Accords?
There’s more to this picture than just ”timing” and ”readiness” and ”available adequate depth bunkerbusters”

Israel has the strength, capability, and fortitude to accomplish its goals of taking out Irans nuclear capabilities, I just wish Israel had backing from the U.S..
Maybe then Israel could have Americas backs when deporting all illegals and devout Muslims (🤣).

Not as long as the Trump administration blocks it

If US President Carter had not destroyed Shapour Bakhtiar, Iranians would not be dying of thirst and hunger now. A corrupt DUMP that got a plane in Qatar? I don’t believe! I’m putting my hope in smart Iranians to remove these criminals from power. The Ayatollah belongs in prison.
Nina says
Israel cannot attack Iran’s nuclear facilities because they exist nowhere else but in the head of the lying ayatollah. This man lies, steals and destroys Iran. Before he, he was Carter’s colleague, the previous now-dead Ayatollah. Carter destroyed Iran, which he put these lying criminals in power in Iran. What kind of nuclear program, people dying of hunger and thirst. But Trump falls for a bunch of Iranian lies and doesn’t tell the truth. Iran doesn’t have a nuclear program because they don’t know how to make it anyway. Iran doesn’t even have water or food because the government and the ayatollahs have stolen everything and wasted it on their own luxuries.
Nina says
What will he block if there is nothing to block, because the ayatollah and politicians have stolen everything and they certainly don’t have a nuclear program, because these criminals appointed by Carter can’t even make slippers. Trump is taking bribes from Qatar and the Republicans should remove him from office themselves. Iranian women are barren while Israeli women are giving birth to new Israelis, fighting in the army, and walking the streets with guns. The average Israeli woman gives birth to twice as many children as the average Iranian woman.
David Ramati says
Without the ability to protect, our pilots they will be going down a one-way street from which most will never return. Be careful what you ask for, especially when you have yet to prepare for the question: what comes next? How will they get home after the air strike?
Fred says
I feel Israel knows more about this than I do and I trust them to do whatever is necessary whenever it is necessary. The future of both our countries lie in the balance.
