They live in an artificial state that Turkey created to further Islam’s expansionist goals. What did they expect? If they want secularism, they should expel the Turkish occupiers and reunite with Christian Cyprus.

Several thousands of Turkish Cypriots gathered in the northern half of the ethnically divided capital of Nicosia to protest against what they say is an attempt by Turkey to erode their secular roots and strengthen the hold of policial Islam over their society.
The protesters held up trade union banners and held placards reading “It won’t pass” and “Cyprus will stay secular” before gathering to attend a concert.
The protest is the latest in a series of demonstrations that leftist trade unions have organised to express their opposition to what they say is an attempt by Ankara to slowly change the staunchly secular Turkish Cypriot society into a more politically pliable community through the introduction of Islam into the education system.
The demonstrations began last month when the right-wing Turkish Cypriot authorities lifted a ban on wearing headscarves in high schools, but not on symbols of other religions.
Teachers’ trade unions, political parties and other leftist groups condemned the move as an encroachment into the strictly secular education system aimed at the eventual “Islamisation” of Turkish Cypriot society….

And because of this they are in a more advanced stage of Islamization than the Turkish Cypriots. Think UK. Sweden, Canada, Australia, Austria, Germany. As long as the woke simple-minded sheeple are under strong delusion, abandoned their Christian heritage, and keep voting for people who keep up the import and accommodation of anarchist Islam and continue the illegal Islamization into their countries – then that is where it is heading.

This reminds me of the recent political action in Hong Kong which the British were legally obliged to exit from in 1998 at the end of their 99 year lease agreement with China. So Hong Kong is not Taiwan. There is no dispute that Hong Kong is or is not an integral part of China.
You do not have to be a supporter of the Chinese State or of its values to realise how ludicrous was Hong Kong push against Beijing. How can a country have a separate region within it which has entirely different (and antithetical) political, economic, and administrative structures? In one you may be executed by firing squad for large scale financial fraud. While in the other you would at most get a few years in jail for “white collar crime”.
The Hong Kong protestors were not heroically seeking to overthrow the Communist State -they just wanted to keep their privileged little British enclave just as it was. Since it wasn’t geared as a revolutionary reform of the whole Chinese State it made no sense at all.
The only advantage Hong Kong protestors got out of annoying Xi was that they could apply for refugee political asylum in the West.
Or consider a hypothetical. Australia consists mainly of one very large island and the large island of Tasmania to its South. Tasmania is one of the States of the Federation of Australia so it is subject to all the Federal Laws without exception.
Now suppose that because of immigration and birth rates that Tasmania became a Muslim-majority State. It had been practising Sharia and using covert Muslim financial systems, defacto and illegally, for years. Now it reached the situation that it wanted it made legal that two systems existed within Australia -Sharia Tasmania and the Infidel mainland island Just like Hong Kong. An absurd situation. In both what they really, or would really, aspire to is secession as a new country. But neither Hong Kong nor Tasmania has or would have the military force to secede.
Another political entity which is not like Taiwan is Turkish Cyprus.
