Elder of Ziyon takes note of European countries “preparing” to recognize a Palestinian state, and quotes an editorial at the Palestinian Sada news outlet — one that is relatively independent from both Hamas and the P.A. — noting that there is no possibility now for such a state to come into being because, among other reasons, there is no unity among the Palestinians, with Hamas and Fatah (the armed wing of the Palestinian Authority) continuing to be at daggers drawn. “The utter folly and irresponsibility of recognizing a Palestinian state,” Elder of Ziyon, May 25, 2025:
France has indicated that it is preparing to recognize a Palestinian state, and other countries like Belgium the UK and Luxembourg are seriously considering doing the same, according to reports.
The idea is folly – even if you take Israel out of the picture.
The (relatively) independent Palestinian Sada News site wrote an anguished article in November about the lack of Palestinian unity, and the article is still on its main page.
The ideas that there is a genocide in Gaza, and that Israel is using starvation as a war strategy, are libelous antisemitic myths. But they are universally believed within all parts of Palestinian society. Yet even so, given an unprecedented crisis in the short history of Palestinians, Hamas and Fatah continue to prioritize their own politics over the supposed welfare of their people.
Here’s what the editorial said:
The Palestinian factions, and here I mean specifically Fatah and Hamas, are sparing no effort to thwart reconciliation and end the division between them.
The United States has mobilized all its allies to support Israel and its aggression against the Palestinians. How can we not find a way out of this division at this crucial time, when Palestinians are being slaughtered daily, their homes are being destroyed, and their schools and hospitals are being bombed? Yet the cries of the children and women of Gaza have not stirred a single hair in the hearts of the leaders of the warring Palestinian factions? Is there anything worth fighting over after all this destruction? Or is our conflict over the remnants of a government amid the bodies scattered from Rafah to Jenin?
For years, reconciliation talks between Fatah and Hamas have been underway, from Mecca to Cairo, then Doha, Moscow, and even China, but without tangible results. The question remains: What is the real reason for this dispute? And why are these talks not achieving any progress?
We recently heard about negotiations in Cairo regarding the formation of an administrative committee to manage the situation in the Gaza Strip, unaffiliated with either Hamas or Fatah, with a focus on humanitarian relief in the beleaguered enclave. However, the negotiations remain secret, and the reasons behind this are clear: they are merely another illusion being marketed for local, regional, and international consumption, as both sides pursue the same path that leads to no solution.
The Palestinian people have already despaired of the unity of both sides, and the majority have begun to reject their actions. However, the idea of an administrative committee without a genuine national political leadership that protects the rights of the Palestinian people and achieves their goals is unacceptable.
The entire world, led by the United States and its allies, fully supports Israel, while Fatah and Hamas continue to fight over power-sharing. All of Palestine is being destroyed, Jerusalem is being Judaized, and the Gaza Strip is in ruins. In this reality, are these Palestinian factions still capable of offering any real solution?…
So this Palestinian editorial writer believes that the entire “world…fully supports Israel.” If only.
Recognizing a state whose only purpose is to destroy another state is not just folly – it is the height of irresponsibility and the opposite of sober decision making. It would not prompt peace but encourage war. It would reward Palestinian intransigence and terror. It would foment more plans for more October 7ths. Worst of all, it is a death sentence for the Palestinians and Israelis that it is naively trying to help.
The Israelis learned a bitter lesson on October 7, 2023. Most of those who once supported a “two-state solution” have changed their minds. The genocidal intent of Hamas, and the support it has subsequently received from ordinary Gazans, and from Arabs everywhere, has made clear that any “land for peace” arrangement would be suicidal folly. The PA hates Hamas as a political rival, but does not disagree with what Hamas did on that day. The pro-Palestinian groups on American campuses and the streets of Europe have not shied away from praising those atrocities as justified “resistance.”
“Land for peace” is an absurdity. The most famous example of “land for peace” was the agreement made by Chamberlain and Daladier with Hitler at Munich in 1938, forcing Czechoslovakia to give up the Sudetenland to Hitler, in exchange for Nazi Germany’s guarantee for peace, meaning Hitler would not try to seize any more Czech territory. It is also an absurdity because any agreement or treaty made between Muslims and non-Muslims is, for the former, to be based on the model of the Treaty of Hudaibiyyah, that Muhammad made with the Meccans in 628 A.D. That treaty was to have lasted for ten years, but after only18 months, sensing that his forces were now stronger than those of the Meccans, Muhammad broke the treaty and attacked them. That treaty remains for Muslims the model for all subsequent treaties with non-Muslims. Israel cannot entrust its security to such a treaty. Instead, peace will be maintained through deterrence, just as it kept the peace between the West and the Soviet Union during the Cold War.
Any further shrinking of tiny Israel, squeezing it back within the 1949 armistice lines, leaving it stripped of its control of the Jordan Valley, and with a nine-mile-wide waist from Qalqilya to the sea, would leave the Jewish state hopelessly vulnerable to a potential invader from the east. There will never be a Palestinian state to the west of the Jordan River. No amount of pressure will now convince the Israelis to withdraw from land that would then become a staging area for Arabs preparing to make another, possibly pan-Arab assault, on Israel.
Arabs living in Judea and Samaria (a/k/a the West Bank since 1950) will have control over their own affairs, but not possess a military. As Prime Minister Netanyahu has repeatedly said in lapidary fashion, “I’m certainly willing to have them have all the powers that they need to govern themselves, but none of the powers that can threaten us.” Instead of trying to create a 23rd Arab state that Israel will never accept, the West should now recognize that the only way to assure peace between Israel and the Arabs is not to weaken Israel by depriving it of territory, but by ensuring that it remain militarily stronger — and be perceived as stronger — than any potential Arab or Iranian enemies.
Taffy says
Let the “Palestinians” (the occupants of Gaza and Judea/Samaria) have their own state, just not within Israel. Trump wants to relocate the Gazans to Libya; I suggest Sanaa, Yemen to be with their Houthi allies. In either place, Hamas can fight it out with the locals to establish their own state. If Israel isn’t involved in the fighting, the UN and all the nations of the world will forget as soon as the sun sets.
Walter Sieruk says
Concerning the idea of what some call “the two state solution.” This subject was explained in a rather clear way in the newspaper entitled The Epoch Times April 3-9, 2024, A-14. Which informs its reader that ”Before October 7th 2023 there was a de facto three-state solution , given that Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza were all separate states ruled by their own governments, two of which were illegitimate without scheduled elections.
It was not Israel, but the people of Gaza and the West Bank who institutionalized the “river to the sea” agenda of destroying its neighbor.
Israel would have been content to live next to an autonomous Arab Gaza and West Bank that did not seek to destroy Israel in their own ‘one –state solution.’
Furthermore, Hamas had proven not only the its words but ,more terrible murderous actions, starting on October 7th, that it wants to completely destroy the State of Israel and even commit genocide worldwide on the Jewish people. That Hamas jihad attack and continued further Islam terror/murder attacks reveals the terrible folly and total lack of wisdom in the every idea of a two-state solution.
Walter Sieruk says
Even that leftist US President t Franklin D. Roosevelt with all liberal socialist ideology still had more common sense and understanding than Joe Biden ,with comrades of the Red/Green alliance, for Biden is still striving to obtain that folly of an idea of a “two state solution.” Which in reality is no solution but a recipe for disaster. The reason why this is so is because a “Palestine state” that would be, no doubt, controlled by wicked jihad-minded Muslims with all their Islamic intolerance would only be a set up for a catastrophe in the Middle East.
As President Roosevelt, had so very wisely declared, “No compromise can end that conflict. There never has been—there never can be—successful compromise between good and evil. Only total victory can reward the champions of tolerance, and decency, and freedom, and faith.”

However, FDR made a deal with the Saudi king that he would never let there be a Jewish state of Israel. I still think that is why he died and Truman took over.
gravenimage says
No, FDR never promised the Saudis that he would–somehow–prevent a Jewish state from existing. Then, he’d been ill for some time–the implication that he was whacked by Jewish people is just grotesque. Moreover, FDR received overwhelming support from Amrican Jews–they did not want him dead.

That Hamas jihad attack and continued further Islam terror/murder attacks reveals the terrible folly and total lack of wisdom in the every idea of a two-state solution.
Therefore, that so called “two state solution” is not really a valid idea and not a genuine solution. It will definitely not stop this awful Israeli –Muslim land conflict.
Thus, a “two state solution” is out of the question. .This is because a “two state solution” not really a “solution” but an Islamic ploy of deception , a smokescreen and hoax and a fraud.
To put all this in another way , October7th with those Hamas Islamic terror murderous jihadist attacks into Israel from Gaza exposes that even the idea of some people of dividing Jerusalem as well as other parts of the State of Israel between the Jewish people of the Muslim/ Arabs is nothing but folly. To engage the madness of such “talks” is a hoax and a farce .This is because in the so called “negotiations” between the heads of the Jewish nation of Israel and the leaders of the “Palestinians” the Muslim /Arabs the “Palestinian” leaders will speak the truth only when in happens to fit their agenda. The rest of the time the will be speaking half-truths and outright lies. For their goal is to obtain all of the land of the State of Israel. Even in it takes much time and it means getting the land piece by piece. Therefore, those “peace talks” are a hoax.
For the “Palestinian” leaders are employing what is the Islamic doctrine of Taqiyya . Which is the Islamic dogma that lying and deception are good things to do as long as it’s done for the cause of the advancement of Islam. This insidious scheme is part of the stealth jihad . Such sly and something subtle strategy of disingenuous speech, lying deception of achieving the goal of all the land of Israel a war ploy that will be a disaster if the heads of the State of Israel are foolish enough to agree to divide the land of Israel with Muslim /Arabs ,the “Palestinians.” For if such a “peace dialogue” results in a divided land, the outcome will literally be murder. For “Palestinian” leader will allow the jihadists use that land as a base to launch murderous rocket attacks in to Israel. As for example, Hamas of Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Such false hopes for peace which are based on the foundation of lies are nothing new when it comes to Israel. For example, the Bible in Psalm 55:20, 21. Reads “Such men do violence to those at peace with them and break their promised word; their speech is smoother the butter but their thoughts are of war.” [N.E.B.]

I don’t drink alcohol, so I have never been over-the-limit; never inebriated, never intoxicated nor drunk.
However, I have heard that those who have been, see and *****”recognize”**** pink elephants.
Drunk with power or stupidity, these so-called *leaders* may as well claim they are seeing pink elephants, Martians landing, pigs flying, or superman flying to the rescue, as to say they “recognize” a “palestinian state.”

somehistory,
I just picked up a copy of:
“Paying the Tab: The Costs and Benefits of Alcohol Control” by Philip J. Cook.
Interestingly, 40% of the adult population drinks no alcohol at all.
And the upper 10% consume approximately 75% of all the alcohol consumed.
somehistory says
Thank you, James. Interesting stats.
Some of my father’s relatives were alcoholics. So was my father and a couple of my brothers. It’s a sad thing to see someone you care for drinking themselves into a state such as they sometimes did.
Many old movies and tv shows liked to pretend that a drunk is *funny.* I’ve never seen the humor in it. And I’ve never had a desire to drink something that might affect my thinking ability.
James Lincoln says
Thanks for your reply, somehistory.
My own brother, a highly intelligent and well-regarded attorney, is an alcoholic “in recovery”. Nearly killed him…
Luckily, he’s been stone cold sober for 30+ years.

James, my father was finally told by his doctors that he had to stop drinking and smoking or he’d be gone. So, with an effort, he quit.
Sadly, a brother-in-law wanted something and came by with booze so he could *search* the house for it.
My father was hospitalized not long after and died there.
I’m glad your brother quit.

Also, the withdrawal from Gaza was half of a land for peace deal (without the treaty). It proved giving land means more terrorism. The Arabs have proven unworthy of possessing Gaza (or any part of Israel) and Israel should annex it.
As for Europe, they are showing why so many of their Jews went to the gas chambers. They are just as willing to send Jews to the monsters of Hamas.
memi says
Annexation by Israel is the only way there may be Peace in that region. Germany already has sent 8 million plus Jews to their death and now Hamas under the tutelage of genocidal Turkey wants to repeat Germny’s “success story”.
Hitler said in 1938: “My greatest teacher was Kemal Ataturk”! Turkey, with Germany’s decision to allow Turkey to become EU’s new “Defence Contractor” and get $150B to “improve” its arms industry to “defend the EU”, are still in the busienss of genocide–under different guises.
We see whose proxy Jihadist Syria of behader Jolani is, after they slaughtered 2000+ Alawites, Christians and persecuting Kurds and terrorizing Druzes with impunity by “woke” EU and Trump shakes the hands of this beheader Wanted for $10Million, now “president” of “Syria” bordering now with Israel!

The Surpassing Folly of a ‘Palestinian’ State
…………………………………..
Yes, this is folly. Firstly, there is no unified ‘Palestinian’ leadership, and Hamas mass murdered Fatah supporters in Gaza shrtly aftr Isral lft in 2005–they had to flee to Israel. Then, Hamas has openly said that they have no interest in the Gazan people, or their being fed or taken care of–they regularly use civilians as human sheilds, and seize food and medical aid. Then, a ‘Palstinian state’ is not the goal for either Gaza nor the ‘Palstinian territories’–for both the aim is the destruction of Israel. At best, a ‘Palstinian state’ would b a stepping stone towards this.
And there iwas really nothing stoppng either Hamas or Fatah from stting up a defacto ‘Palestinian state’–but neither one ever wanted to. So there will just be more attacks on Israel–and more Shari’ah savagery at home.
OLD GUY says
For these European states its recognition of a Palestinian State has to be all about Oil and Money from Islamic countries flowing in. Nothing else makes sense.

The EU “leaders” like Macron who would like to see the “separate state of ‘palestine’ in the region are suffering from delusion and geopolitical myopia! The coast line is already infiltrated by Jihadist-terrorist-supporting Turkey and, together with its “Syrian” Jihadist regime of beheader al-Jolani-Sharia, will install bases from which to target Israel, Cyprus, Greece, declare illegal EEZ agaisnt UNCLOS international laws and control Libya and Iraq. The new Erdogan “deal” with the PKK is the throw dust on the eyes of EU so that Turkey can enter the EU and become….its newest Islamofascist “EU member” country!
Israel knows what is happening in “Syria” and its borders with Jihadist terrorists who’ve already massacred 2000 Alawaites and Christians a month ago–with no outrage from EU, only for Hamas “casualties”–in order to establish Turkish airforce bases on the sea coast!
Trump should not trust the word of Hamas on any “promises” for ceasig fire. Israel is the only democratic country in that whole continent and is surrounded by terrorist-supporting countries like Turkey which openly stated:
“We will march our Army to Jerusalem and kill all Jews there….there isn’t going to be Israel when we get there”! Of course, Sultan Erdogan is big on rhetoric, but somebody has to to cut down his neo-Ottoman genocidal dreams! And to top it off, Turkey will be getting EU $150B funding to be….the EU’s “Defense Partner” and already bought Piaggio war weapons industries from Italy and works with Spain and…..yes, Germany!
Hitler said in 1938: “My greatest teacher was Kemal Ataturk”! Germany and Turkey (with corrupt mini Qatar are still “teaching” Genocide 101….now in Israel and EU!
A new separate “Palestinian” state would be a disaster for the East Med and Middle East volatile region and EU and U.S. will live (hopefully) to regret this strategic error.
