Texas: Department of Justice announces investigation of Muslim EPIC City

There are serious concerns about the application of Sharia in this place, and so the investigation is entirely warranted, although it is not at all clear that the investigators will know what danger signs to look for. In any case, the fact that any investigation is being conducted at all is a tribute to the heroic efforts of the great Amy Mek.

The U.S. Department of Justice is opening an investigation into a proposed Muslim development of a North Texas mosque.

Sen. John Cornyn sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi and Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon last month asking them to to investigate potential “religious discrimination” at the East Plano Islamic Center’s EPIC City, a proposed housing development that would be located in unincorporated Collin and Hunt counties.

Cornyn said in a press release on Friday the U.S. Department of Justice has opened an investigation in response to his concerns.

“I am grateful to Attorney General Bondi and the Department of Justice for hearing my concerns and opening an investigation into the proposed EPIC City development in North Texas,” Cornyn said. “Religious discrimination and Sharia Law have no place in the Lone Star State. Any violations of federal law must be swiftly prosecuted, and I know under the Trump administration, they will be.”

Dan Cogdell, the attorney for EPIC, said the North Texas mosque will cooperate with the investigation.

“EPIC will cooperate fully with any and all investigations — regardless of how misguided and unnecessary they are,” Cogdell said.

EPIC City is a proposed 402-acre development associated with the East Plano Islamic Center mosque. It would be roughly 40 miles northeast of Dallas near the city of Josephine. The mixed-use development would include a new mosque, more than 1,000 single- and multi-family homes, a K-12 faith-based school, senior housing, an outreach center, commercial developments, sports facilities, and a community college.

Yasir Qadhi, a resident scholar at the East Plano Islamic Center and one of the people involved in the project planning, told KERA in an interview last year EPIC City is not exclusive to Muslim residents.

“It’s an open community,” Qadhi said. “Anybody can come in. We’re welcoming people of all backgrounds and diversity and we’re offering them facilities that we think would be very, very useful.”…

Mustafaa Carroll, the executive director of the Dallas-Fort Worth office of the Council of American Islamic relations, said at a press conference in April that Abbott and Paxton have abused their power by launching groundless investigations into the East Plano Islamic Center and its project and violating their rights to religious expression….

  1. The question is will permits for churches and synagogues be denied. Will homeowner fees go the epic mosque rather than for community upkeep. Will the adhan prayer blast 5 times per day. Will bars and non halal restaurants be denied access to operated. Will Islamic blasphemy laws be enforced and by whom?

    • Agree – and, for families, there’s also the question of how easy it will be to access secular schooling, should they somehow not appreciate the great advantages of madrassah based education.

      Has anyone ever heard of the McCarran-Walter Act Of 1952? This ”selective immigration ban” had been “The Law Of The Land” for nearly 38 years and had been applied on occasions, by US Presidents. Known as the McCarran-Walter Act, or the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952, it allowed for the:

      Suspension of entry or imposition of restrictions by the President, whenever the President finds that the entry of aliens, or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States. The President may, by proclamation, and for such a period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens, or any class of aliens, immigrants, or non-immigrants, or impose any restrictions on the entry of aliens he may deem to be appropriate.

      Additionally, it is important to note that the McCarran-Walter Act also requires: “an applicant for immigration must be of good moral character and in agreement with the principles of our Constitution.” Therefore, WE THE PEOPLE of the United States Of America could surmise, since the Quran forbids Muslims to swear allegiance to the U.S. Constitution, then technically, ALL Muslims should, or could be refused the privilege of immigration to America – Right? WRONG!

      Who was president when this law was passed? Harry S. Truman (D). Who do you suppose used this law last? Jimmy Carter (D), no less than 37 years ago, in 1979, to keep Iranians out of the United States of America.

      Donald J. Trump has been savagely criticized for wanting to enforce the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 by suggesting that the U.S.A. should limit, or temporarily suspend the immigration of certain ethnic groups, nationalities, and even people of certain religions (Muslims), until the US government could get a “handle” on the situation of Islamic immigration. Criticisms that said that Donald Trump was being un-American, dumb, stupid, reckless, dangerous and racist. Many Congressmen (of both houses) within his own GOP party swore that they would never allow such legislation!! Well, Surprise, Surprise, LIARS!! We the People found it!!     I would argue there are serious (and quite legitimate) concerns about the application of Sharia anywhere in America. Sharia and the US Constitution, especially the Bill of Rights, have NOTHING in common.

    Islam had nothing to do with the establishment, growth and development of America as the greatest nation on Earth. Indeed, the Islamic world, as opposed to the “trinity” of the Judeo-Christian world, the classical world of ancient Greece and Rome, and what England forged not only for itself but for all of mankind from Anglo-Saxon times onwards, would have retarded America form the outset, perhaps even crushing America if only it could have, regardless of what malevolent and ignorant fools like Obama and Biden have stated to the contrary.

    Islam has nothing to do with freedom and freedom above all other factors is what made America the greatest polity in history. Actually, Islam is an inveterate enemy of freedom, contra the great trinity I mentioned above. And why I look upon all adhering to Islam here in America as parasites, just as I do so with many others adhering to liberty-crushing ideologies like Marxism and Nazism. Yes, there are some nice Muslims out there but then one can find some nice Marxists and Neo-Nazis. So what because the belief system in each case is rotten and the ideology is paramount, not the individual.

    After all, one can find terrible people who proclaim they are Christian or are American patriots, but this should never lead a logical person to therefore conclude that Christianity or America is rotten. Yes, the belief system is key and not the person. The wonder of it all is that more have not figured this out by now.

    But the cair goon claims that Gov. Abbott and Texas AG Paxton are “abusing their authority” and *investigating* something that violates the mozlums’ “rights to religious expression.”

    If “religious expression” infringes on the rights of others….religious or otherwise….and breaks Constitutional or State Laws, then the *right* to those expressions is null and void.

    If a group of Christians were planning something which would violate the Constitutional and civil rights laws, they would have already been investigated

    The very fact that these mozlums in Plano are planning such a huge compound where schools, businesses, etc. will attract and encourage adherents of islime to gather, says that mozlums in Texas have already been getting away with things which they should not.

    Just imagine the noise, the traffic, the arrogance and plans for terror which will happen if this *city* is allowed. The quiet of the small towns in the area, the rural atmosphere, will become like islamabad.

  5. Islam takes lying to the Zen level. Of course no non-Muslims will be allowed to build one thing in this EPIC center. It needs to be razed now. Do not allow any building permits, and if they buit stuff already without permits, fine them hugely and make them tear it down for not complying with the law. What they mean by faith-based schools is that they will teach the Qur’an and why every Muslim must commit themselves to Jihad of overthrowing the US govt and replacing it with Sharia law. Who is financing this? Who bought the land? It is the Muslim Brotherhood they all need to be deported yesterday as they are a terrorist organization.

    is a waste of money time and will not stop the Islamization of political- multicultural societies

When they say it is for all , believers and non believers, they know that non Muslims will never purchase homes in the area. Maybe the gays who support the Hamas in Gaza should move in.   15. Glad to see Sen John Cornyn show a modicum of sense, just when I was convinced that he was a total RINO. I’m still rooting for Ken Paxton to primary him, though

    However, the issue of EPIC city is not merely discrimination against non-muslims. It’s the creation of a muslim enclave like Dearborn or Hamtramck in Texas, that could force the future GOP to be as beholden to muslim votes like Democrats are in Michigan. As well as potential no-go zones for police while investigating crimes done by muslims. EPIC city itself – I doubt too many non-muslims would want to live in a place that has an islamic ambiance to it – muezzin announcements 5 times a day, place flooded w/ halal shops and so on. There’s no way you could pay me to live in such a place

    I do hope that either Texas or DOJ find a reason to completely shut down the whole thing, since nothing good will come out of it. Also, I daresay nobody could dare create a Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu neighborhood, much less a Christian one, in the same manner the EPIC people are creating this one in East Plano

  17. Will the DOJ hire Robert Spencer, Pamela Geller, Bill Warner? How about John Guandolo former FBI to do the investigation, hire someone that knows something about Islam, everyone else is completely ignorant on the subject.

    All we get is Dr. Zuhdi Jasser with Levin. imagine if Mosab Hassan, the Son of Hamas, Jasser, and Levin agreed to debate the topic of Sharia, good or bad, for America.

    Wherever one finds Islam, one must be ready to be burdened by the steady drip of submission via Sharia.

  22. It’s good that someone in gov’t is noticing this disgrace in Texas. BUT the investigation so far sounds way too timid. The problem is not really religious discrimination from the Muslims, meaning non Muslims can’t/won’t live there. The problem is Islam itself, with its intention to subdue all other socities to sharia, and kill or subjugate non Muslims.

    That has to be addressed head on. Forget about being intimidated by accusations of religious intolerance from us against Islam. This is a religious war by Islam against us, even if without bullets right now. We must summon up the courage to deal with it.

  23. Hmmmm,

    This would be fine if they recognize the ascendance of American laws for their jurisdiction. I could see it being handled similar to any other city with law enforcement being subject to federal, state, county regulation. My fear is that when they start fortifying their city and stocking an armory, we are just going to have a larger version of the Dravidian cult, with even a more devastating end.
