New Pope Leo, in his first Sunday prayer address, said: “I am deeply hurt by what is happening in the Gaza Strip.”
He must be talking about the hostages, isn’t he? pic.twitter.com/HWtdXKmniW

Hurt by what, exactly? A nonexistent “genocide”? Israel having the lowest ratio of civilian-to-combatant deaths in the history of modern warfare? Hamas embedding its activities among civilians so that it can use any retaliatory fire for propaganda purposes? The specter of a second pope in a row retailing Hamas propaganda? Or something else?

Is he as “deeply hurt” as the families of the innocent Jews who were raped, dismembered, tortured, murdered, taken hostage and tormented in endless days and nights in tunnels, starved, strangled to death (as the two little boys were)?
In what way is he “deeply hurt”? Is it for the hostages still kept and being abused, tortured and murdered by hamas? Is it for the little kids who are used as sacrificial weapons on the world stage in order to gain sympathy for a mob of satan’s sons and daughters?
Evil end times pope, second episode? Looks like it might just be.

Think of all the Christians who’ve been slaughtered in Africa since the last two years. Think of the suffering of those areas that the last Pope and this one, have never mentioned. I remember the picture of the last pope washing the feet of muslim refugees? and how obscene it was to see the picture… think of all the Christians who’ve been murdered and the Popes preaching their denialism. Yes… I am Jewish and I grieve the horrendous denial of what occured on Oct 7th and on so many other occasions… this Pope is apparently just a gossamer pretender as was the last Pope. I feel sad for those Catholics who want better for themselves and their church.
somehistory says
Yes, MGoldberg,. whatever race or ethnicity one is, it’s still possible to empathize with people of another background.
It seems this new pope is going to ignore the massacre of Christians in Africa, the frequent murders, rapes and claims of blasphemy (so they can take property and murder) in places like pakistan. and it won’t surprise if he blames Israel for what the mozlums are doing.
I have friends who are Catholic and they have such disappointment in the choosing of someone who pretends to lead them.
mgoldberg says
I met a women who just emigrated to the US from Nigeria. She told me of her life there and this unassuming dressmaker who was at one time several years ago traveling up north to visit relatives by bus experienced what was all too common there. The bus was attacked by muslim robbers, killers, hijackers and she and those that could ran off into the forests to hide out as long as they could, until the federal police showed up. She said she was in the woods for two days until the police shouts to her were believable and she came home frightened but alive. I tell this story because her new husband here, has a job as a truck driver and I notived her sad frightened look when we were discussing his nights away from her here in the US driving on the highways. She thought it might be like it was there in Nigeria. He laughted and comforted her and told her America is nothing like Nigeria and she needn’t worry. The look in her eyes was quite revealing as to how lucky we are here in the states and eleswhere. That we don’t understand how dangerous such places are is also telling….
somehistory says
thank you for that experience, MG.
I have often tried to visualize and imagine how it is for people being persecuted in such horrific manner.
I had a friend, much older than I, who was a missionary in Peru. No persecution but life there is so much different than she experienced at home, so she would write long letters to friends and family…fun to read letters, nothing like what have related. The only common denominator was the account of a bus ride, and it had nothing about terrorists, mozlum scum killing, robbing and raping.
We here have no real idea….even after hearing someone as you have done.

࿗Infidel࿘ says
Are those slaughtered Christians Catholic? If they are from Anglican or other Protestant denominations, the pope does have a way out, since they’re not his flock
somehistory says
Many are Catholic. If you read the reports, it’s fairly easy to tell by the names of the congregation and the titles of the preachers for each.
If it says “pastor,” then no, they are not Catholic.
However, may Catholic leaders from those areas, speak to reporters about what is happening.
One other factor: the former pope liked to condemn *Christians,*….not just Catholics for not welcoming mozlums, and not going out of the way to “welcome,” migrants.
If popes choose to tell all of us what we are to do, then they also have responsibility to speak up when the slaughter is ongoing.
Hugh Fitzgerald says
I think the Israelis are even more “deeply hurt” than Pope Leo, hurt by the 1,200 Israelis raped, tortured, mutilated, and murdered on October 7, by the 251 hostages seized on that day and held in barbaric conditions, by the failure of most of the world to stand by the embattled Jewish state in its hour of need, by the explosion of antisemitism that has been the diseased response to Israel’s determination to defend itself.

I fear mankind will be subjected to another fool as pontifex maximus. I don’t want the Pope to be a fool. No one who prizes moral intelligence and sees the Roman Catholic Church at its best as a bulwark of civilization (and especially Western Civilization) should want any Pope to be a fool
Benedict XVI certainly was not but Francis I was. Looks like Leo is a “Francis type” and not a “Benedict type.” Hope I’m wrong. Not lookin’ good so far.
GE says
Good afternoon, Wellington.
I took your advice and started reading the documents from Vatican 2. Right off the bat in Dei Verbum, I found something where the church started going off the rails. It will take me a while to get through all of them, but I’m working my way through.
PS—a neighbor texted me asking what I thought about the new pope. I told her I was waiting and watching, but that I hoped he spoke out about the genocide of Christians in Africa. Her response:
“What genocide?” I made her look it up. She was shocked.
Goes to show how the lack of coverage in MSM results in ignorance.
Wellington says
GE: Good to know that you are reading the documents of Vatican II, which ecumenical council did more harm to the Catholic Church than the split with the Orthodox world in the 11th century or the Protestant Reformation of the 16th century did. At least with the two former it was an outside obstacle; with Vatican II it has proven to be a far worse obstacle, i.e., the enemy within. Yes, self-inflicted wounds are often the worst kind.
As for your neighbor, it’s a definite positive she’s not quite as clueless as she was, thanks to you. Hopefully, the new Pope will not be as clueless as the previous one was. Time will tell.

It’s discouraging to know how many people rely solely on the MSM when with the Internet there are so many other options. Before the Internet came along, it was very hard to get the foreign equivalents of the MSM, much less anything less “official.” I listened to BBC on shortwave radio, whose reception was not always reliable, and would read the Times of London, which took a week to get to the big university library that I had access to. Today, I can have access to both in seconds, plus I have access to lots of independent news sources like Jihad Watch.
But lots of people don’t care and stick with the MSM.
Joe1 says
I see Francis as a pivotal shift. For years, the Masons tried to get the papacy. With Francis they probably succeeded. So for now on, the papacy will be controlled by Masons who also practice homosexuality.
If you look at who Francis promoted, it always seemed to be homosexuals. By now, the majority of the cardinals are probably homosexuals and Masons, and they are going to protect what they have. When Leo was a cardinal, he was the point man for promoting homosexuals and Masons.
I know that Christ said that the Church will last until the end of the world, but Christ also compared the end of the world to birth. The placenta lasts as long as the pregnancy. Then it allows illness into the sac (like Vatican II). When Francis was destroying the Church, it was similar to the water breaking.
Both Francis and Leo will probably bring as much heterodoxy as they think they can. Leo is in favor of synodality.
It doesn’t look like the Church will ever be able to perform Petrine office again. I can’t see either Francis or Leo doing that. But all is not lost. Everything is working as expected (if you read the prophecies).
Karen Ann Dowden says
I am a catholic in name but do not like what is going on and has gone on in the church for a very long while. I am convinced that the Vatican is a ‘Cabal’. Their library should also be open to the public. Francis was not a good pope, off the charts and it is ‘wait and see’ for Leo. They all seem to be pandering to Islam.
God never made religion and so much in Christianity and other religions is probably made up stories. However, a big plus in Christianity is the teaching of peace and reaching out in brotherhood to humanity. Islam is definitely a terrible ideology. Like people all over, of all religions, many muslims do not know the in-depth teachings of their own religion.
In all faiths there are good and genuine people but as a body there are too many evils in too many. Definitely disappointed in Catholicism. I rarely go to church.

Islam attacked Europe and the Vatican fought back, but what was before that ?
Sequence of events makes all clear.
The Vatican created Islam !!!
How did arabian desert tent dwellers quickly have armies well equipped, and ships ? The Vatican funded and it all.
Vatican created Islam for the purpose of killing all non catholic christians in the east and south of europe. The agreement was Islam could spread and kill as long as Catholics left alone and jerusalem would be catholic owned. Islam betrayed the Vatican. Then Vatican had to fight Islam it’s own created monster.
Origin of much of Vatican dogma is from paganism but a role was also the Greek city of Alexandria on Egypt coast full of gnostic greeks and local Jews that hated Jesus and together decided that if the gospel can’t be stopped, then best to pervert the gospel thru Vatican dogma they helped create. All from the devil.

No, the Vatican did not control 7th century Arabia, nor did it create a creed that preaches the opposite of Christanty. There is no historical basis for this at all.
Karen Ann Dowden says
Your comment rang bells for me. I read somewhere, not so long ago that it was actually the early church, ie. Catholicism/Rome that helped created Islam. One of the main reasons being to persecute Jews, who were responsible for bringing Christ to his demise. This needs further research.
Remember the Jews who lived in Arabia at the time Mohammed ‘created’ Islam refused to convert so he had an early axe to grin d with them.
Robert Spencer says
This is total nonsense, fabricated out of thin air by a Protestant polemicist who falsely claimed to have been a Jesuit priest, Alberto Rivera. “Catholicism/Rome” did not create Islam or have any presence in that area of the world at the time Islam was created. “Developing: Pro-Criminal Clergy Blocking Ambulances to Protest Detention of Illegals”
“A group of roughly 50 clergy members from New Jersey blocked the entrance to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Newark on Monday.
Fox News reported the clergy members — from Faith in N.J. and Faith in Action — said they would not leave until they were arrested.
“An ambulance was turned away from entering a gated area that the protesters were blocking on Monday because authorities feared the protesters might rush in if the gate were opened,” according to the outlet.
Fox News correspondent Alexis McAdams noted that two ambulances tried to get into the facility, but were turned away out of fear that the protesters would rush onto the facility grounds.
The same facility also saw protests on Friday which resulted in the mayor of Newark, Ras Baraka, being arrested.
A protester told Fox News on Monday that someone had called the ambulance to try to get the protesters to move.
“There was no danger there,” he claimed. “We’re not going to be moved. We’ll be here as long as it takes until people start to realize this is not acceptable.”
Video posted on social media showed people ultimately being arrested at the facility.
The Department of Homeland Security posted several pictures Friday of people being held in the facility, including those wanted for homicide, assault, and drug trafficking. Some are affiliates of the MS-13 gang.”

You know it doesn’t take the breadth of focus, or the depth of heart, or the dimension of intellect, of a Teilhard de Chardin, or someone like that, to be able to see that the Pope is hurt by what is happening in Gaza because people are suffering and dying there.
That fact doesn’t just go up in smoke when you point out that Hamas started it, or that they are notorious users of human shields, or that Israel has a right to prevent more massacres of its own people. Some information on Pope Leo taken from Catholic sources.
He named himself after Pope Leo born in 1810. He was known as the “Social Pope” because of his progressive views and efforts to engage in modern society. He advocated for conciliatory positions towards civil governments, scientific progress and social needs.
In a March 2024 interview with Catholic News Service, Pope Leo said Pope Francis’ decision in 2022 to name three women as full members of the dicastery, giving them input on the selection of bishops “contributes significantly to the process of discernment in looking for who we hope are the best candidates to serve the church in Episcopal ministry.”
Cardinal Prevost, now Pope Leo, is an Augustinian with dual citizenship with Peru since he spent over 20 years there and prior to 2023 was the Bishop for Peru till 2023 when he was called to the Vatican by Pope Francis.
In September, a television program in Peru reported on the allegations of three women who said that then-Bishop Prevost failed to act against a priest who sexually abused them as minors. The diocese strongly denied the accusation, pointing out that he personally met with the victims in April 2022, removed the priest from his parish, suspended him from ministry and conducted a local investigation that was then forwarded to the Vatican. The Vatican said there was insufficient evidence to proceed.
Notice the local police were not involved.
From Vatican news:
On September 26, 2015, he was appointed Bishop of Chiclayo by Pope Francis. In March 2018. In 2019, Pope Francis appointed him a member of the Congregation for the Clergy (July 13, 2019), and in 2020, a member of the Congregation for Bishops (November 21). Meanwhile, on April 15, 2020, he was also appointed Apostolic Administrator of the Peruvian Diocese of Callao.
On January 30, 2023, the Pope called him to Rome as Prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops and President of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America, promoting him to the rank of Archbishop.
Pope Francis created him Cardinal in the Consistory of September 30 that year and assigned him the Diaconate of Saint Monica. He officially took possession of it on January 28, 2024. On February 9, he celebrated the Mass presided over by Pope Francis in St. Peter’s Square for the Jubilee of the Armed Forces, the second major event of the Holy Year of Hope.
During the most recent hospitalization of his predecessor at the “Gemelli” hospital, Prevost presided over the Catholic Rosary for Pope Francis’s health in Saint Peter’s Square on March 3.
In other words he will be just like Pope Francis only more progressive and very definitely a adherent to climate change, “building bridges” open borders, accepting of blessing same sex couples and agrees with universalism – “all faiths lead to God.”
He is listed as a Republican in the U.S. but really fits the label of a RINO. Old tweets show him condemning President Trump, on climate change, positions on illegal immigration and having strong borders. .
Good luck with Pope Leo.
It looks like Pope Francis groomed him as his replacement.
somehistory says
Thanks for all of that, Bubbleburster.
It does, indeed, look like a “grooming,”….and the other guys doing the *electing* must have been aware. It took them no time at all to choose him.
