In the Qur’an, a mysterious figure, known as Khidr in Islamic tradition, kills a boy in an apparently random and gratuitous attack. He then explains: “And as for the boy, his parents were believers, and we feared that he would overburden them by transgression and disbelief. So we intended that their Lord should substitute for them one better than him in purity and nearer to mercy.” (18:80-81)
And according to Islamic law, “retaliation is obligatory against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right.” However, “not subject to retaliation” is “a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring’s offspring.” (Reliance of the Traveller o1.1-2).
Muslims commit 91 percent of honor killings worldwide. The Palestinian Authority gives pardons or suspended sentences for honor murders. Iraqi women have asked for tougher sentences for Islamic honor murderers, who get off lightly now. Syria in 2009 scrapped a law limiting the length of sentences for honor killings, but “the new law says a man can still benefit from extenuating circumstances in crimes of passion or honour ‘provided he serves a prison term of no less than two years in the case of killing.’” And in 2003 the Jordanian Parliament voted down on Islamic grounds a provision designed to stiffen penalties for honor killings. Al-Jazeera reported that “Islamists and conservatives said the laws violated religious traditions and would destroy families and values.”

HYDERABAD: A young couple attempting to marry without the consent of the woman’s family was attacked in an apparent honour-related case in Tharhri Mohabat, Dadu district, on Saturday.
According to police, Sapna Janwri and Mashooq Solangi were en route to court to solemnise their marriage when unidentified assailants opened fire on them. Khalid Solangi, who was accompanying the couple, was killed on the spot, while Mashooq sustained injuries. Sapna died in the attack….

It’s truly alarming that a nuclear nation has such low functioning citizens and one wonders if there is a DEI-like religious system in Pakistan and how high up the political system it gravitates. Maybe this is what’s left after 80 years of brain-drain to the West?
When a successful Western Pakistani reads or sees this behavior on TV does it make him thankful to not be there? Did he realize in his youth there was no good future under Islam as government?

Western Pakistanis (i.e. Muslims to be specific) are not thankful for being in the West because their mentality is the same when it comes to the Islam. I know this very well because I was born in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) and we had West Pakistanis (now known as Pakistan) living amongst us. Whether it’s Pakistan or any muslim country, their mentality and attitude is the same.
I am not a muslim by the way but being Jewish in a muslim country is not pleasant when you have to conceal your identity and faith

This has nothing to do with *honor.* It’s a terrible pride thing that mozlums feel in their ability to control the behavior, and even the thoughts and desires, of others.
When a mozlum, or group of mozlums feel that their power to control others is jeopardized…as in this case…they feel such rage at the *offenders,* that murder comes easy…..
Detectives look for a motive when investigating murder….money, sex, revenge, jealousy, envy, desire for material things belonging to others, etc.
With mozlums, the motive in these misnamed “honor killings” is keeping their pride intact among the other mozlums, showing they do exercise complete control over daughters, sons, and in-laws even to the point of allowing them to live…rarely if ever…. or die for their rebellion.
“Pride goes before a fall.” Let the reaping begin.

Interestingly, in muslim majority countries where sharia is enforced, sharia courts actively look for a “sharia compliant” motive, e.g, “honor killing” which is permissible.
In Western countries, the motive is not investigated if it is inspired by islam, the default “motive” being mental illness.

The whole thing is a tragedy, and all too common in Islam. A point of clarification, unless I am reading incorrectly: The couple was not killed. The young lady died, the young man sustained injuries, and a relative of the young man, who was accompanying them, died in the attack. Still, two people were senselessly murdered.

First, the terrible term “honor killing” is alone a dishonest term. For there is no honor, at all, in a malice -filled murder of a young female. Just giving an evil action a better sounding title doesn’t change the wicked nature of it. It’s like scrapping off the label of that jar of cyanide which reads “Danger Poison” and replacing on that jar another label that reads “ Apple Juice.” That doesn’t change the deadly content in that jar. As it has been wisely said that “Evil is always looking for an excuse.”
Second, the horrible reality is that Islam is able to in a sinister way, warp the cognation of the human mind that a man might even feel and think that a cold-blooded murder of a helpless young girl or woman is something that is “good” That’s outright demonic. The bride was staying with the groom’s family, left her family, eloped 4 days prior. The groom survived yet no FIR issued or arrests. The local “police” know the other family and are moving slow, likely favoring the criminals.
