One More Murder In Samaria

Another Israeli civilian has been murdered by a Palestinian killer. The details of her life and death are particularly heart-wrenching. She was about to give birth, and instead, she died, while the baby inside her survived. Palestinian terrorists murdered Tzeela Gez, a 30-year-old mother of three, on Wednesday night in a drive-by shooting on Route 446 near Peduel junction in the Binyamin region of the West Bank. Her husband was driving her from their home in the settlement of Bruchin to the hospital to give birth.

Doctors at Rabin Medical Center-Beilinson Campus in Petah Tikva attempted to save her life but declared her dead on Thursday morning. They conducted an emergency Caesarean section to save her unborn child.

The baby boy was transferred to Schneider Children’s Medical Center for Israel in Petah Tikva in “serious but stable” condition, the hospital said.

Gez’s husband, Hannael, 40, was lightly wounded and released from the hospital on Thursday morning.

Last October, Tzeela Gez posted on her Facebook page that we were living in an “uncertain period with a feeling that nowhere is safe, and yet, we continue to go out to work and live.”…

The Israelis living in Judea and Samaria, who continue to ”go out to work and live,” taking their children to schools, their parents to hospitals, their families to synagogues, have to be among the bravest people on earth. They are living amidst a population of Palestinian Arabs, including many terrorists who have for decades shown themselves driven by fanatic hate, with a long list of murders to their name. Yet the Jews keep on building their lives, their families, their businesses, and they refuse to be driven from the land in Judea and Samaria, the place where Jewish history was made over the past 3500 years. They are calumniated as “settlers” by the mainstream media. But they know that they, the Jews, are the true indigenes, and neither the terrorists nor the BBC will drive them out.

President Isaac Herzog said the murder was “a criminal act of terror that chills every heart.”

“Precisely at a moment of life, a life was cruelly taken,” he wrote. “My heart goes out to the grieving family and to all her loved ones, who are deeply shaken. We are all praying now for the well-being of the baby and the recovery of [her] wounded husband, Hananel. Terrorism will not defeat the Israeli spirit. We will pursue terrorism everywhere, and we will not be silent. May her memory be blessed.”

This is what every Israeli living in Judea and Samaria must worry about whenever they go for a drive. The rocks that Palestinians hurl at their cars, so as to smash windshields and cause Jewish drivers to lose control and crash. The Palestinians who pull up alongside Israeli cars in their own cars, and shoot at everyone inside, including babies in their bassinets and toddlers in their car seats, clutching their dolls. And the lone sniper who waits to kill any Israeli who swims into his ken. Just like the Palestinian who killed Tzeela Gez, as she was being raced by her husband to the hospital to give birth. The mother was murdered, the baby survived.
