The adhan, the Islamic call to prayer, prayed in Arabic, repeats “Allahu akbar” six times, “I testify that there is no god but Allah” three times, and “I testify that Muhammad is Allah’s prophet” twice. “Allahu akbar” means “Allah is greater,” that is, greater than your God.

Is New York City really wise to broadcast repeatedly a declaration of the superiority of Islam, a faith that directs its adherents to make war against Christians and other non-Muslims and subjugate them as inferiors under the hegemony of believers (cf. Qur’an 9:29)?

Yes indeed, keeping civilization successful and optimal is a constant task. As Ronald Reagan astutely observed, civilization is only one generation away from being no more. Put another way, it is easy to be destructive and stupid; it is damn difficult to be productive and smart. All of which indicates how fragile civilization is and how durable barbarism is, one example being the long life of Islam.

My wife just lost her father last month but he lived a full and successful life (a doctor and a very good one at that) and so, as usual, it is time for mankind at the microcosmic and macrocosmic level to move on.
I can only hope that mankind “moves on” productively and this can never happen if the Islamic vision of society prevails (by now, far more people than do should know this) but it can happen if the Judeo-Christian vision of society prevails. Better.

It’s never easy to let go, no matter how long the life lived.
My father died as a relatively young man, with children not yet grown. Time does help heal, though it never completely erases the pain. We can take comfort in the memories of things done well.
As you know, I have a strong hope in the future and in a resurrection which will bring so many wonderful reunions.

I, too, feel something different in the air most recently and I am anticipating great things happening soon. Such a great weight will be removed from all out lives, our tired shoulders, our waiting hearts.

How could this be phrased so badly? It limits the amplified calls to prayer to only Friday yet allows any religion to do it. We suspect that is not so and the 5 calls a day will commence.
Now this opens the door for Christian churches to send out amplified bells with Christian prayer messages, also 5 times a day. Maybe choose the same times? Let the joyous prayer calls of Christians begin!

Now, you must know that, in Islam vis-a-vis the West, the cardinal rule is that it is ALL A ONE-WAY STREET, in favor of Islam.
Example: don’t you ever dare hurt the sensitive religious soul of Muslims by saying something untoward about their prophet. Freedom of speech has its limits, don’t you know, as the Europeans have been lecturing the world, if religious sensibilities are at play. But to try to restrict the tsunami of vile hatred of Israel and the Jews by Muslims…now that’s when freedom of speech must be completely untrammeled!

The City’s noise laws were content neutral and therefore Constitutional until the mayor pulled this stunt. Amplification above a threshold sound pressure level was forbidden for everyone, whether they were playing music or a call to prayer or calling the Kentucky Derby.
This is very upsetting since the morning call to prayer for the Fajr has to occur before sunrise. In NYC around the summer solstice, this call to prayer is 3:44 a.m.

What’s worse – the first one is at 4:30am. If one is a sound sleeper, no issue, but for people who are woken up easily, it has to be a major inconvenience
Also, as RS pointed out in the past, the whole idea is to mark an area as muslim, just like dogs urinate to mark their boundaries. After all, muslims can easily set alarms & reminders on their phones to gather for the prayer when it happens w/o bothering anybody else. Instead, from a minaret, they put the azaan on loudspeakers, so that everybody in the neighborhood knows or thinks that there are enough muslims in that neighborhood to justify that disturbance

My call to prayer would be five times a day with my S&W 460 from the 7th Day Church of S&W. no need for reloading if the Mosque next to me did that. I have a 150 dB siren on order from Amazon, should they be ill-advised to announce prayer 30 yards from me.
I live in a Hispanic neighborhood where every 4th and every New Years I hear them celebrating with music that sounds like a Polka and as yet unknown reports of what may be mass accelerators normally designed for heavy metal projectiles for a couple of hours. Being a Vietnam Vet, I prefer not to have it after 10PM because it spooks my pets, but I refuse to say anything to them because we are of the same race; human. They treat me better than any other neighbors I have had and I fly the flags of US and Israel daily.
