On Thursday, President Trump gave Americans another Liberation Day: He signed an executive order ending federal funding for two of the left’s principal propaganda organs, National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). Unfortunately, this doesn’t mean that these two vicious taxpayer leeches and leftist disinformation entities will disappear, but at least patriots won’t be forced to shell out for programming that is designed to destroy everything they hold dear.
The left, predictably enough, is howling, led by NPR and PBS themselves. NPR issued a statement warning of imminent apocalypse: “Eliminating funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting [CPB] would have a devastating impact on American communities across the nation that rely on public radio for trusted local and national news, culture, lifesaving emergency alerts and public safety information.”
The statement was yet another example of what a cruel joke NPR and PBS are on the American people. No one actually trusts NPR and PBS except the indoctrinated cadres of the left and those who are uninformed enough to continue to believe in these propaganda organs’ claims to be free from bias. The grim reality is that NPR and PBS are the left at its most cynical, opportunistic, and parasitical. American taxpayers, including those who are patriots, are forced to subsidize two of the left’s shrillest and most nakedly biased mouthpieces, all the while being gaslit about how it’s their patriotic duty to support a free press.
And so Trump wrote in his executive order that the joke was over: “Government funding of news media in this environment is not only outdated and unnecessary but corrosive to the appearance of journalistic independence. The CPB Board shall cease direct funding to NPR and PBS, consistent with my Administration’s policy to ensure that Federal funding does not support biased and partisan news coverage. The CPB Board shall cancel existing direct funding to the maximum extent allowed by law and shall decline to provide future funding.”
That bit about “biased and partisan news coverage,” which is putting the reality of NPR and PBS extremely mildly, is eliciting reactions from the left on the order of the kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar insisting that he doesn’t even like cookies. CNN laments that “America’s two biggest public broadcasters” have “faced a series of attacks from the White House and Republican lawmakers accusing them of biased reporting.”
The New York Times also pretended that Orange Man Bad and his henchmen were making up this whole bias thing, saying that they were “accusing the outlets of producing biased coverage and ‘left-wing propaganda.’” Note the scare quotes around “left-wing propaganda,” as if no reasonable person could believe that such a thing even exists, much less that NPR and PBS ladle it out to patriots as if they were cigarette-puffing meatballs doling out lunchtime glop to a sweaty chain gang.

Fully agree. Right now, Congress is busy w/ Reconciliation and planning Tax cuts, which is of course important, but they need to pass bills and vote on the things the President has done so far. In fact, and important one would be that if people enter the country illegally en masse, they should be deported first en masse, and then have their due process at the nearest US embassy w/ a video-conferencing meeting w/ whichever court. That way, they don’t remain a burden on the US: they can argue their cases sitting in their home countries

If it can be done that way, great.
If not, all the illegals who are not in prison should be rounded up and put in humane detention sites awaiting their due process.
And they could self-deport at any time.

I watched Alan Dershowitz suggest on his show this novel way of sending them to a country that has a US embassy/consulate, and allowing them to plead their case via Zoom at the embassy to a US court. The proceedings would be on Zoom, and that way, the requirement that they be out of the country is satisfied, as well as any “due process” that the courts think they should have
If this requires Congress to codify such a practice, that should happen

Congress is to busy running around the world defending criminals to have time to vote on bills for Americans. Sadly we pay them allot of money to do nothing but campaign and travel around the country complaining about the other party.
They are the reason there is a saying if you want to get something done, don’t form a committee.

Like Mo mentioned above, these moves should be backed up by laws passed by Congress, so that Federal district court judges don’t get to cosplay members of the Executive
But aside from that, there can be a good DOGE argument for terminating federal funding for NPR & PBS:
⮞ They are not tied to the White House Press Office, and don’t take their orders from Karoline Leavitt. As a result, there is no reason they should be taxpayer funded
⮞ Their views are always Leftist, regardless of whichever party is in power. In other words, their views are contrary to the party in power if it’s the GOP, which is contrary to what one would expect of press outlets that like to think of themselves as official government outlets
⮞ They get money from a lot of sources other than government. They would therefore be just fine if government money stopped flowing their way
⮞ In this era of social media, most people don’t watch TV news channels anyway. Also, NPR listeners and PBS viewers are a highly curated group, usually from academia. They are welcome to a channel that caters to their tastes, be it on TV or on YouTube
All in all, there is no reason to continue w/ any government news or propaganda agency – be it NPR, PBS, VOA, RFE, RL,…

I have basic “cable TV” as part of my Internet package, but I rarely watch it.
The only thing that I have watched in the last year was “The Masters” golf tournament and it took me 20 minutes to find out how to turn the “TV mode” on…

Most of the streaming services – FireTV, Roku, Slingbox,… have YouTube as one of their services, and that’s what I use to watch any news channel or podcast that I want. These days, podcasts are my primary way of consuming the news
FireTV for example has the various other services, like Amazon Prime, Disney, AppleTV, et al all available. One has to open that app, and then one can watch any show if one subscribes to the services in question

I will say this about NPR: they do play excellent Christmas music around the holidays but it’s usually sponsored by some kooky woke Lutheran church whose pastor is a flaming lesbian and concerned totally about social justice not the word of God
