Indian airstrike kills Pakistani jihad leader who murdered Daniel Pearl

“‘India avenges Daniel Pearl’s murder’: JeM commander Abdul Rauf Azhar killed in Indian airstrikes,” Business Today, May 8, 2025:

India’s Operation Sindoor has not only struck at the heart of Pakistan’s terror infrastructure but also delivered what many see as long-overdue justice for American-Jewish journalist Daniel Pearl.

News18, citing sources, has reported that Indian airstrikes have eliminated Abdul Rauf Azhar, operational chief of Jaish-e-Mohammed and a central conspirator in Pearl’s 2002 kidnapping and murder.

Rauf Azhar, younger brother of JeM founder Masood Azhar, was also the mastermind behind the 1999 IC-814 hijacking, which resulted in the release of Al-Qaeda operative Omar Saeed Sheikh. Sheikh would later go on to abduct and behead Daniel Pearl, a reporter with The Wall Street Journal, in a brutal execution that shocked the world.

On Wednesday, Indian forces executed a precision operation striking nine terrorist locations across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The Bahawalpur strike, which targeted JeM’s Markaz Subhan Allah complex, reportedly killed Azhar and 10 members of Masood Azhar’s family, including his sister and brother-in-law. The JeM chief later issued a statement confirming these deaths.

Hailing the Indian strikes, American activist Amy Mek, founder of the RAIR Foundation, wrote: “Today, India delivered justice for the brutal murder of American-Jewish journalist Daniel Pearl by eliminating Abdul Rauf Azhar, the Jaish-e-Mohammed commander and key conspirator behind Pearl’s kidnapping, torture, and beheading.”

For years, Mek continued, the West has tolerated Pakistan’s terror export while innocent lives paid the price. “India has finally done what needed to be done—targeting the very Islamic terror infrastructure that breeds jihad.”

Calling Abdul Rauf Azhar more than just a terrorist, Mek wrote: “He conspired to murder Daniel Pearl… Operation Sindoor struck at the heart of terror, hitting Jaish-e-Mohammed strongholds and sending a clear message: India will not stand by while radicals slaughter non-Muslims.”

“To India, we say THANK YOU. Thank you for standing strong against Islamic terror and taking the fight directly to the jihadis. The West must learn from India’s stance on Islamic terror. Islamic jihad has no place in a civilized world, and anyone who shelters these monsters must face the consequences,” she said.

Pearl had disappeared in Karachi on January 23, 2002, while investigating terror networks. He was reportedly scheduled to interview a religious leader when he was abducted near a café. His captors, calling themselves the National Movement for the Restoration of Pakistani Sovereignty, accused him of being a spy and demanded the release of Pakistani prisoners held by the US. Later, Pearl was killed and his body was discovered on May 16, 2002….

    Pakistan needs to be kept on a short leash at all times.

  4. pakistan has received a lot of money….supposedly to fight terror….and harbored many terrorists while collecting the funds.
    It’s high time these pakistani protected terrorists were sent to take the long, long dirt nap.

    Daniel Pearl, sacrificed to the evils of islime….and it’s as if no government entities took any notice.
    A little bit of justice finally comes.

    Now how about the mozlum ghoul who actually murdered Mr. Pearl? born in the U.K. of all places….freed by the pakis after his trial. Perhaps he can be eliminated….soon.

      • Michael, I don’t know if justice will ever come. For the corrupt media, the war mechanics of islam is still rocket science or they don’t bother or care to know islam. Such is the interest in humanity.

  5. I saw the video of Daniel Pearl being beheaded. There is nothing bad enough that can be done to moslems as retribution for this. May they all burn in Hell for eternity.

      I have that video and it was the worst thing I could ever witness in my entire life. His throat was slit while he was still alive. The US govt lied about that fact. The gleeful circulation of that video also gives a peek into the psyche of Muslims and their hatred for Jews and others. The entire islamic world, it seems can accept it wholeheartedly, the world has not come to its senses despite many such instances, nor has anyone condemned terrorism as devil’s deed. It seems God sought his judgement here on earth itself, otherwise who would have thought his “time” was coming.

    • Yes, Pray Hard, I too watched that video some years ago and the horror of it has never left me. It has filled me with a resolve to oppose at every turn the further inroads of the Islamic fiends into American life and culture.

  7. This was one major coup for the initial wave of Indian attacks that bombed jihadist centers of both Jaish e Mohammed and Lashkar e Toiba. Azhar – the guy who abducted and beheaded Daniel Pearl – was a leader of the former, so he was bound to be a target. After 2 decades, India, after hesitating to do something that would start a war, since both countries have nukes within each other’s ranges, finally acted. Today, Pakistan decided to escalate the war by sending fighters & drones into India, causing blackouts in all states bordering them

    I think a war is about to start, and unlike in the case of Israel, which is SOL if the US abandons it, India does have at least Russia in its corner: the S400s were used to destroy these attacks. Unlike in the case of Israel, where Trump prevented them from attacking Iran (so far), he would have no such leverage on Delhi, despite both countries being a part of Quad, since unlike Israel, India does have alternatives. The US would do well not to try to stop a war where a jihadist country risks getting decimated

    In the meantime, India, which was a beneficiary of anti-jihad or at least anti-terror moves by US/Israel for the first decade since 2001, has finally done something tangible in the war on jihad

    • Infidel, Hope you are doing well. We used to be critical of Modi, but he has shown more courage than all the prime ministers of recent past put together. He has done the right thing. I would have been happier if India had taken over the Kashmir across the border. Maybe he has kept it for another day.

      • Depends on what you are referring to. There is that mountainous region in northwest Kashmir which is uninhabited, but gives Pakistan a strategic advantage and a land bridge to China: that is something that should be taken over. However, when they refer to PoK – the strip to the west of Kashmir as well as Jammu, that place is inhabited by muslims. It would be stupid of India to try & take that over: if successful, it would only increase the muslim % in Kashmir

        Right now, the war is a nightly affair: last night (for India), Amritsar, Jammu and Faridkot came under fire. Nobody can leave those cities – there are curfews there, and everyone is sheltering in place, and those who can, are working remotely

  10. Unless Islam is eliminated, terrorists will continue to get protection from Islamic countries like Pakistan. It is shameful that even the West, which claims to protect human rights, is doing nothing to eliminate or ban Islam.
