Former Reps. Bowman and Bush Are Determined to Deplore a Nonexistent ‘Genocide’

Former Reps. Jamaal Bowman and Cori Bush are all-in with “Palestinian liberation,” and determined to deplore the so-called, and indeed nonexistent, “genocide” in Gaza: “Former US Reps. Following Hamas’s Oct. 7 invasion of and massacre across southern Israel, both Bush and Bowman issued intense criticism of the Jewish state’s defensive military efforts in Gaza.

Bowman and Bush were not outraged by the rapes, torture, mutilations, and murders of Israelis, or by the 251 Israelis kidnapped and brought back to Gaza. Reports of babies having been beheaded, family members tied together with wire and then burned alive, women who had their breasts sliced off, and men who had their genitals cut off and their eyes gouged out while they were still alive — none of that appeared to move Bowman or Bush to offer a syllable of sympathy. No, what moved them was Israel’s response, in sending tens of thousands of troops into Gaza to find and kill the members of Hamas, the terror group responsible for those atrocities. It was Hamas they felt for, Hamas they wanted to protect from the IDF.

The progressive former lawmakers called for a ‘ceasefire” [sic] between Israel and the Hamas terrorist group less than a month removed from the Oct. 7 massacre. They each falsely accused Israel of engaging in an array of war crimes in Gaza, including “genocide,” “ethnic cleansing,” and imposing a “famine.” The duo also dismissed Israel’s counterterrorism initiatives in the West Bank as “apartheid.”

A “ceasefire” after less than a month would have left the killers in place, still holding almost all of their weapons, with 450 miles of tunnels still intact, and only a few thousand of their number killed. A “ceasefire” at that point would have fatally vitiated the IDF’s campaign to destroy Hamas. Why should Bowman and Bush have cared? They were, and remain, on the side of Hamas.

Bowman specifically declared the mass rapes of Israeli women on Oct. 7 a “hoax,” before walking back his comments following widespread backlash. He has accused Israel of advancing “white nationalism” and “settler colonialism” and also suggested he may no longer support Israel’s unequivocal right to exist or defend itself. Bowman also later expressed remorse for voting in favor of Iron Dome funding, claiming that Israel weaponizes its air defense system to “continue apartheid, oppression, open-air prison, occupation, and now the genocide.”

Bowman has never apologized for claiming the mass rapes of Israeli woman as a “hoax.” There were eyewitnesses who lived to tell what, from hiding places in safe rooms, they had witnessed. And there were the videos taken of the rapes by the proud rapists themselves — something to show the boys back home. They were as proud as the Hamas member who took a video of himself calling home and saying “Mom, I just killed ten Jews!”

Bowman accuses Israel of “white nationalism,” when a majority of Israelis are as dark-skinned as the Arabs. He accuses Israel, too, of “settler colonialism,” when the Jews have been living in the Land of Israel, uninterruptedly, for the past 3500 years. The Jews cannot be accused of having “colonized” their own land, the land where Jews lived and Jewish history was made. The true “colonizers” in the Middle East and North Africa were the Muslim Arabs, who swept out of Arabia in the seventh century, conquered vast territories, and “colonized” them, both by moving Arab settlers into those lands, and by convincing the peoples they conquered to use the Arabic language, adopt Arab names, convert to Islam, the “Arab religion,” and to think of themselves as “Arabs.” As the scholar of Islam Anwar Sheikh has said, Islam has always been a vehicle for Arab supremacism.

Who is funding Zeteo, the network single-mindedly devoted to spreading anti-Israel animus? Mehdi Hasan, who founded the network, is not that well-heeled. Might the network be receiving funds from Qatar or, indirectly, from Iran as well? Or are rich Palestinian-Americans, people like Mohammed Hadid and his two supermodel daughters Gigi and Bella, helping to foot the bill for Zeteo?

Bowman and Bush will keep on with their anti-Israel program on Zeteo, and also make money swanning about the country, too, picking up fat honoraria for giving anti-Israel speeches at mosque events and to campus brownshirts on dozens of campuses. They’ll do quite well. Like that famously corrupt Tammany leader, George W. Plunkitt, who said “I seen my opportunities and I took ’em,” Bowman and Bush, now out of Congress, have “seen their opportunities and they took ‘em.”
