Former CAIR top dog says Muslims are in US to ‘shift this country’s political direction and spiritual direction’

Muslim civil rights attorney Hassan Shibly, former director of the Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), spoke at the Kitaab Academy Aqsa Conference on February 15, 2025, held at the Yorba Linda Community Center in California. In his speech, Shibly encouraged Muslim civic engagement, saying that the only justification for Muslims to live in America – where it is easier to practice Islam and Muslims can grow financially, economically, and socially – is to change the country’s political and spiritual direction through da’awah, meaning Islamic outreach.

Shibly referred to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “Satan-yahu,” and said the standing ovation Netanyahu received from members of Congress reflects the influence of AIPAC and what he called the “Jewish supremacy lobby” over American politics. “How much more evil can you have this country’s highest institutions be?” he asked, adding that American politicians are “bought and paid for by the Israel lobby.”

Other speakers at the event included AMP National Chairman Hatem Bazian, activist Raja Abdulhaq, and CAIR official Zahra Billoo. Sponsors and vendors included the Chino Valley Islamic Center, CAL-Poly Pomona Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) and the Palestine Center for Public Policy.

It is worth noting that Shibly resigned from CAIR Florida amid allegations of domestic abuse and sexual harassment, including accusations from CAIR employees.

Hassan Shibly: “It is sufficient to understand the influence AIPAC and the Jewish supremacy lobby have on the United States’ politics when you see elected officials – in fact, the entire Congress, both Republicans and Democrats – giving a standing ovation to the filth of the earth, the genocidal Satan-yahu, with the blood of children on his hands. I mean how much more evil can you have this country’s highest institutions be?

“Those politicians are bought and paid for by the Israel lobby – AIPAC being one of them – but frankly, its symptomatic of a broader effort to have America, essentially, be a tool for Israel.

“I think it’s very easy to be a Muslim in America. It’s easier to be a Muslim in American than in many Muslim majority countries. Quite candidly, you have more freedom to practice your faith than in many Muslim majority countries, and you have more opportunities for yourselves now to grow financially, economically, socially, and yet, that comes at a tremendous price. What is that tremendous price? It is [that] your tax dollars are contributing to the genocide.

“So what is our role in that regard? How do we even justify living here? I mean, why are we living here? Have we asked ourselves this question, why are we living in the United States? The only answer I believe is excusable and justifiable is if we are living here to shift this country’s political direction and spiritual direction together, engaging in da’awah [spreading Islam], and da’awah is essential.”

  5. Off this topic, some people here at jihad watch have shown some interest in the Australian Federal election. It has been a terrible result from a conservative point of view. A landslide win for the Labor party. No one predicted such a landslide win. The opposition leader, Peter Dutton, lost his seat in parliament. His electorate was always won by a narrow margin so probably no big surprise. The predictions were for a hung parliament with Labor relying on the support of the lunatic greens which would have the worst result. Labor are a pretty hopeless government so it is bad news for Australia, buy in a democracy the people get the government they deserve and it was a massive win for Labor.

    • I’m sorry, Tim, I know you are terribly disappointed. The world is not a very nice place in this time.
      Even when a seemingly moral person like Mr. Trump wins, the evil groups do everything they can to thwart every move that would make things better.
      And when the bad guys win, it seems there is no hope of something better.

      • There is a whole lot of other stuff regarding mozlums, their claims about Israel and ‘genocide,’ and the ones winning elections in the article cited above. Evidently corbyn has formed a political party with a group of them.

        • Thanks for the information, somehistory. The UK seems as though it has gone a long way down the path to being completely destroyed. As for Australia, well I have to say that the result stunned everybody. The commentators were predicting a narrow win for Labor but it was a landslide win. Of course, most of my siblings are left wing and would be pleased. I think this Labor government are terrible and a few conservative friends I have feel the same way in a massive win like this the Australian people have well and truly chosen this pretty hopeless Labor mob to govern them. There is no doubt about who they chosen.

        • Tim, I see every day evidence that the words of Jesus are being fulfilled.
          He told of two paths or roads; one narrow, cramped and full of boulders and obstacles; and the other broad, spacious and easily traveled. He said that “many” would be on that broad road, which leads to destruction, while “few” would travel the cramped road leading to life.
          Thankfully, there are some willing to take the difficult path; but it’s hard to see so many falling all over themselves in their headlong path to destruction. Especially when we see friends and loved ones following that path.

        • I have to say, somehistory, that the brother and sisters of mine who lean the left are really good people we get along just fine in most ways. They just see political issues in a very different way. Obviously from this election result most Australians see things in a similar way to them. I have a couple of conservative friends that I went to high school with and, politically, we do see things, after all these years in a similar way. Anyway, democracy is the only political system I support and the Australian people have spoken. No one saw such a landslide victory coming. The government have been pretty bad and do not deserve such massive support but there it is.

This is true the democrats will do and continue to do everything to counter and if possible destroy President Trump Of course there is one thing the President needs to do is to short-circute islam’s ability to progress that means illegal mosques need to be destroyed and no more mosques and certainly no more enclave serving muslim sunni muslims with sharia law. They are our enemies and they will try to destroy us within as is now progreessing in the UK-no more Xmas or Easter no more christianity on the streets/3800 British civillians in prison for mere founded islamic complaints etc They are taking over England!! Cair America needs destroying alongf with other islamic affiliate organisations.

    • Yeah, Tim, I watched a bit of Sky Australia yesterday, and later, watched Dutton’s concession. It was a very disappointing result. I wonder what it would take for Australia to get to where NZ is? Also incidentally, does Australia not have a proper Conservative Party? Just the Liberals and Labor?

      The fact that both Dutton in Australia and Poilievre in Canada lost their constituencies seems to indicate that neither was the right man for the jobs. I guess they’ll have to keep looking until they find the men who can lead them out of it

      • Infidel, there will be a lot of soul searching in the liberal and national party coalition after this thrashing. A conservative friend of mine said, a couple of weeks ago, that he felt the liberals were not really tearing into Labor but I said that I thought Dutton was seen as being a tough guy and I suspected that they were trying to soften his image a bit. The liberal party does seem to have quite a few fairly left wingers, sort of rinos I guess. They are saying that Angus Taylor, dan tehan or Susan ley or lee, not sure of the spelling but pronounced lee, might be the liberal leader. It is a devastating loss it would have been even worse. Some commentators were saying it could have been a close result and a hung parliament where Labor would have to rely on the loony left greens to get things done. This is a left wing Labor govt, but the greens are off on another planet.

      • My favorite “Australian” newscaster is Rita Panahi of Sky News. There are a couple reasons I like her one being she speaks the truth unafraid. The other being…well…what can I say?

        • Yes,tgusa, I am a big fan of Rita Panahi. I don’t know whether you know her background. She was born in the USA to Iranian Muslim parents. They went to Iran. She was on Andrew bolts show on sky news and she showed a photo of her as a young girl, maybe 8 years old wearing a Muslim head scarf. Said she hated wearing it. Showed a photo of her parents and friends wearing western clothing at a tennis party so it was back before the mullahs. Anyway they came to Australia. She has ditched Islam and has often said she is an atheist. I agree that she is fearless and entertaining. She would cop a lot of hate from the left and just laughs it off. I don’t get sky these days but I am a great admirer of Rita Panahi.

        • I dont watch TV. I haven’t for 25 years and I dont miss it. I watch her stuff on the Internet. She is listed as an Iranian Australian with little mention that she was born in the USA. I guess it takes an American born woman of Iranian extract that lives in Australia to tell the truth in an entertaining and easy to watch way. What a strange world it is.

        • It sounds as though you find Rita Panahi fearless, entertaining and attractive, tgusa. I am not surprised at that. I don’t if she ever married or if she is involved with anyone but she has often mentioned that she has a son who I think is maybe 15 years old. I have wondered about things would have gone with her parents when she ditched Islam I guess that maybe they are mellow type Muslims but she has never mentioned how things went. As a list comment on the election I texted a conservative friend and said it was a terrible result and texted me saying I agree.hhhhhhhelppppp. god help Australia.

        • I liked her before but now I like her even more knowing she is an American. According to the left would that make me a racist or a sexist? Would it be a combination of the two with everything else thrown in for good measure? I feel at peace because I dont care.

          I’m thinking it will all work out in the end when a majority comes to there senses Tim. How long, no idea. But I do know that peoples minds can be changed as fast as the snap of a finger. I have hope that it is just a fad, like disco, sort of. Just because we might feel we are out numbed is no reason to give up. We English speaking countries are all in this together more than at any other time in history. We have been there before. It is just a different foe conducting a different kind of war but we will adapt. We have to.

        • Australia covers about 7.69 million square kilometers, making it the sixth-largest country in the world. In contrast the USA spans approximately 9.83 million square kilometers. The USA has fifty states while you guys have six when you really should have many many more. You should if you want to get a better reflection, a better individual and community representation for the people of Australia. Just my thought on the issue of course. The world is changing so lets make it an earthquake.It is the perfect time.

      Open borders to Muslims and Islamic followers and their mosque training centers need to be CLOSED.

      CAIR needs to be recognized as an organization the same as the KKK.
