The IDF troops fired into the air after a delegation of diplomats from EU and Arab countries violated agreed-upon boundaries which were established prior to the delegation’s trip to “a combat area.”
Rather than apologize (profusely), “EU Foreign Minister Kaja Kallas said that the incident was unacceptable,” and stated: “Any threats on diplomats’ lives are unacceptable.” It is obvious that the threat was not from IDF firing a warning shot. The rules were established to protect the delegation.
Had the IDF allowed these diplomats to continue to “deviate from the route” and wander, and an explosive detonated, the world would never hear the end of how IDF failed to protect these diplomats. They were likely there in the first place to malign Israel, and shouldn’t have been trusted. No amount of appeasement, friendliness and cooperation with anti-Israel types will change their minds.
The article below states: “Army Radio reported that the IDF would apologize to the members of the delegation, including diplomats from Spain and Canada.” Shameful. An apology is an admission of wrongdoing. The IDF did nothing wrong. The delegation did, and owes the IDF an apology.
“IDF troops fire warning shots near diplomatic delegation in Jenin,” by Amichai Stein, Jerusalem Post, May 21, 2025:
IDF soldiers fired warning shots towards a delegation of some 25 people in Jenin in the West Bank, the military confirmed on Wednesday.
The delegation, which was made up of diplomats from Arab and European countries, was taking a tour of the West Bank city.
The IDF stated that the diplomatic visit was coordinated, and the delegation was given an approved route due to their presence in an active combat area. However, during the entry, and despite prior coordination of the route, the delegation deviated from the route and reached an area where they were not allowed to be.
Diplomatic delegation deviated from route
IDF forces fired into the air after soldiers realized that the delegation had deviated from their path. The military claimed that this was to push them away from the area, and that there was no damage or casualties. In a statement, the IDF noted that it “regrets the inconvenience caused.”
Army Radio reported that the IDF would apologize to the members of the delegation, including diplomats from Spain and Canada.
In Brussels, EU Foreign Minister Kaja Kallas said that the incident was unacceptable.
“Any threats on diplomats’ lives are unacceptable,” Kallas told reporters in Brussels, as reported by AFP.
Spanish foreign ministry sources “strongly” condemned the shooting.
“There was a Spaniard in the group of diplomats who is well. We are in contact with other affected countries to jointly coordinate a response to what happened, which we strongly condemn,” the sources said, as reported by AFP. …

Kallas and the other members of the mission are a bunch of jackasses! My apologies if I offended the 4-legged kind of jackass. Israel should have unequivocally stated that the IDF’s actions were necessary to guarantee the delegation’s safety since their safety could not be assured after the delegation strayed into a war zone outside the designated protected path. And, they should have further explained that firing shots into the air was the quickest way to get their attention to return them to the protected path. And that although it may have been unnerving to the delegation, it was done for their safety.

Yesterday, there were *reports* from various sources that the IDF had ***fired on the diplomates.****
There are so many such “sources.” and no one should give them any credence.
For instance: one source on a totally different subject had a headline about a *senator* and *chaos ensues* and someone yelling , ‘are you just going to skip that?’
I read the story. There was video included so I could hear how things were said, etc.
Senator/Dr. Rand Paul was heading a committee and the guest was Ms. Gabbard (if I’m remembering right) and Dr. Paul was talking and then asked the lady a question about gain of function.
Another senator asked, ‘are you just going to skip….’ and Dr. Paul apologized and asked the lady to open the session with why she was there.
No chaos….none whatsoever. All were very calm and controlled. Another *source* had a story on another subject and also claimed “chaos” and it, too, was not demonstrated to be true.
So, the stories about Israel “firing at diplomates”….no one should believe it unless the IDF or the PM says it

If these delegates cared anything about stopping the violence they would be in Gaza, demanding the immediate release of all the remaining hostages.
Clearly, they are there pursuing their stated agenda, the “need” of a 2 state “solution”.

The IDF should have just killed them all, instead of firing warning shots

In movies and tv, cops fire “warning shots.” But in real life, they shoot the person.
James Lincoln says
Infidel,
Interestingly, I have never heard of a muslim firing a “warning shot”.
Never.

That was funny, James.

That’s true James.

Thanks Wellington and OLD GUY.

Kosh's Shadow says
Israel should say that since the EU cannot keep to agreed routes, they can no longer enter the combat zone.

It sounds like Joe Biden is running Israel… gaffes and screw ups galore. Israel is failing… they just can’t continue to bend over like this for the very countries that are drawing up sanctions against them. Israel should not of even let them into the country let alone go to Jenin.

In America, they have kill switches on the newer vehicles. The delegation should be given those. When they wander off the given path, kill their vehicles. Then tell them that the tour was over. They could either stay where they were or go back home.

What idiots–they could have been killed by Jihadists.

Who was in charge of leading the delegation on the tour? It couldn’t be the EU as they know next to nothing about where they are and what route they are to follow. So perhaps it was an Arab guide(s). Who were those people? Who appointed them and authorized them to lead the group? Why weren’t Israeli guides used? Were there objections to a Jewish person leading the delegation?
Lots of questions, in my opinion, need to be answered.
