Annals of Antisemitism, Or Raising Hell In Hochelaga

Up in Quebec, would-be medical students share a Discord channel on which they discuss their preparations for, and applications to, various medical schools in Quebec. That at least is what they are supposed to be discussing. Some, however, thought that the channel would be just the place to indulge in the “oldest hatred” — antisemitism. And apparently, of the 1,500 students on the channel, none of them saw fit to complain or raise holy hell, as they ought to have done, from Hochelaga to Lake Huron. I suspect many of these students are not Canadians at all, even if they may have Canadian citizenship, but Muslim Arabs, mostly maghrebins, who have been allowed into Quebec in such large numbers because years ago the Province of Quebec decided it would give preferential treatment to would-be immigrants from francophone countries. Many Arabs in North Africa learn French in their schools. This policy was an understandable attempt to increase the number of French speakers in Quebec, a way to push back against the increasing dominance of English. The unintended and disastrous result was that Moroccans and Algerians and Tunisians were preferred as immigrants in Quebec over immigrants from Greece, Italy, and Spain. An idiotic policy, that has led to the results we all see.

Quebec medical school students and applicants have been using a public discord group named “Med serveur” to post antisemitic, misogynist, and racist content, B’nai Brith Canada revealed on Thursday.

The aspiring doctors reportedly spread Holocaust denial, praised the “Final Solution,” and degraded women in the group of 1,400 plus members….

What group of people do you know who wholeheartedly embrace annihilationist antisemitism while at the same time denying that the Holocaust ever took place? A group of people who regard women as inferior to men, and if the women are non-Muslims, they can be treated as little better than sex slaves? These people believe that a woman’s testimony is worth half that of a man, a daughter’s inheritance only half that of a son. Let me provide one more clue: once in their lifetimes, these people try to make it to Mecca in order to walk seven times widdershins around the Magic Wonderstone. Can you guess?

“What they were talking about had nothing to do with medicine, except where they were saying that Jews are controlling the application process at McGill and you get bonus points if you’re Black or Indigenous or you should dress up like a Jew for the interview.”

The student added that the fact that nobody intervened or stood against what was being posted was the biggest problem, given that around 1,500 people are applying for medicine in Quebec, and “therefore the [Med serveur membership] is like 99% of the students that are going to be applying to Quebec medical schools.”…

Of the 1,400 students on this Discord server, though some were clearly upset at these postings, none spoke out against them on the server itself. This doesn’t apply approval, but it bespeaks a desire not to get involved, not to make oneself a target of the hate-filled.

I feel sorry for the Québecois, who got themselves into this fix with that favoring francophone immigrants policy. I advised a close American relative to attend McGill, and she had a wonderful time. When people in the southern Colossus of the North dismiss Canada as “quelques arpents de neige,” as Voltaire did, I stand up for Canada. So let’s hope cybersleuths can identify those 30-odd antisemites and misogynists who posted this swinish stuff, and make their names public, so that the four medical schools in Quebec will be able to keep them out. Let them go back to North Africa where almost all of them belong. After all, they need doctors there.

And I hope that those who are making immigration policy for Quebec make sure that the “francophone” immigrants that they are encouraging to come are not those who believe that Muslims are “the best of peoples” (Qur’an 3:110) and non-Muslims “the most vile of created beings.” (Qur’an 98:6)
