“There is no compulsion in religion,” (Qur’an 2:256), and none of those Ismaili Shia who were forced to become Sunni, and none of those who were forced to attend Tarawih prayers during Ramadan, were under any compulsion. They could have chosen to be detained, harassed, beaten or killed instead. No compulsion!

In its quarterly report, the UN mission in Afghanistan, UNAMA, has found that at least 50 Ismaili men were forced to convert to Sunni Islam by local Taliban authorities in the northeastern province of Badakhshan between January and February.
Those who resisted were beaten or threatened with death, while their children were compelled to attend Sunni madrassas, the report says.
According to the report, inspectors from the Taliban’s Department for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice entered homes at night, interrogating men on religious doctrine. Those who refused to renounce their beliefs were subjected to beatings, threats, and physical intimidation.
Local Taliban authorities also established several madrassas in areas predominantly populated by Ismailis, compelling Ismaili children to attend religious instruction based on Sunni teachings, the report says.
According to the report, these developments mark a significant escalation in what observers have called an intensifying campaign of religious homogenization.
Crackdown on Ramadan
The report says that from March 1 to March 29, Taliban PVPV (morality) enforcers enforced new mandates tied to Ramadan observance. In multiple provinces—including Farah, Helmand, Zabul, and Samangan—Taliban officials detained or harassed individuals who failed to attend mosque for nightly Tarawih prayers. Businesses that remained open during prayer hours were ordered to close, and clerics were instructed to identify community members who did not attend congregational prayers….

This is the translation/interpretation by the non-militants of Islam, that Muhammad suggested the idea but never carried it out. Either way, it was intended to place fear in anyone missing prayers.
The Taliban might well have the other idea that Muhammad did order the burning.
Is the next step for the Taliban – to burn some people who don’t show up for prayers?
Looking at the photo of Taliban leaders one could almost get the impression that misfits and losers of the “beautiful baby” contests of Afghanistan grow up to be clerics.

Well, ain’t dat too durned bad. If the Talibs are mistreating Ismailis–those heirs of the medieval Hashishin–it is simply one tribe of savages preying on another. But, when I think of all the praise and prettified half-truths the Left has spewed forth shilling for Islam, I recognize that however reprehensible the Taliban (and whatver terrorist swine they care to grant asylum to) may be, they are still over in Afghanistan, around which a cordon sanitaire may be placed if someone has the political will.
The greater danger to the West is an internal cancer of Leftism. The Qur’an verse about “no compulsion” is often cited to prove that Islam is a religion of tolerance and peace – but the Islamic principle of abrogation means that, where there is conflict between Qur’anic instructions, the later revelation (and all of the later ones are belligerent in their attitude towards non-believers) has priority. So this verse is nullified by the many exhortations to strike the necks of unbelievers, crucify them and lop off their limbs on alternate sides, etc., etc.
