“International donors on Monday pledged almost $6.5 billion in aid for Syria, hoping to encourage the new leaders of the conflict-ravaged country toward a peaceful political transition after the ouster of President Bashar Assad in December. Ministers and representatives from Western partners, Syria’s regional neighbors, other Arab countries and U.N. agencies attended the one-day meeting in Brussels, organized in haste by the European Union amid change sweeping the country. The European Commission said $4.6 billion was offered in the form of grants, and $1.7 billion in low-interest loans. Some of the money was pledged over multiple years, making it extremely difficult to calculate an amount for 2025.” — Associated Press, March 18, 2025
This is what those scoundrels are buying: more Hamas jihadis.
“Syria’s President reportedly frees Hamas members imprisoned under Assad,” The New Arab, April 2, 2025:
Syria’s President Ahmed al-Sharaa has freed Hamas and Islamic Jihad members who were detained under ousted President Bashar al-Assad’s regime, The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation (IBC) reported on Tuesday.
The IBC further claimed that those freed had already started planning or engaging in “violent activities”. It did not mention any names or say how many had been freed.
An Israeli security source denounced Sharaa as an “Islamic enemy wearing a tie, working to harm Israel’s security,” according to Israeli media….
rael’s [sic] foreign minister, Gideon Sa’ar criticised European leaders for visiting Damascus this week, stating that Sharaa “claims to provide an inclusive government, but in reality, he carried out a massacre against citizens in Syria”, referring to the killing of hundreds of civilians on the Syrian coast following an attempted uprising by Assad loyalist….

Ironically, under Bashar’s father Hafez, Hamas had an office in Damascus, and was where Khaled Mashal was based for years before he left and relocated to Qatar
What Bashar Assad lacked was political acumen, despite being there since 2000. In 2014, when the Syrian civil war broke out, he should have broken ranks w/ Iran and Hizbullah, and instead depended on both Russia and Israel to back his regime, in lieu of turning in Hamas personnel. Had he done that, he’d probably still have been in power today

Assad’s Syria was the obstacle that separated Turkey from Israel. And when Trump is no longer in the White House, Syria and Turkey will attack Israel together. All gangs from Hamas to HTS will be united and armed with NATO weapons.
