A majority-Muslim country can do this, but no Western non-Muslim country could possibly do it; it would be “Islamophobic.”
“Kyrgyzstan will fine women for WEARING full-body niqabs under plan backed by Muslim authority which says garments could hide ‘attackers in disguise’ and are ‘alien to our society,'” by Olivia Allhusen, Daily Mail, April 8, 2025:
Women in Kyrgyzstan will be fined for wearing a full-body niqab under a new plan that is supported by the country’s official Muslim governing body.
The authority says the garments could hide ‘attackers in disguise’ and are ‘alien to our society’.
It comes as Central Asian officials seek to combat growing Islamist influence, according to local media.
The Muslim-majority country introduced a ban earlier this year on the veil, worn by some adult women, that covers most of the body except the eyes.
Those found wearing the garment could be fined 20,000 Som ($230), more than half the monthly average wage.
‘The niqab is alien to our society,’ the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan was quoted as saying by local media on Tuesday.
‘It is possible that our niqab-wearing sisters are attackers in disguise, which threatens public safety.
‘So it is important to openly show your face to be recognisable,’ it added….

They get to do this, but I recall the fuss and fuming and complaining and screaming which went on in France when similar laws were passed.
And the fuss made when some banks said face coverings and burkas were not allowed inside their businesses.
It’s “alien to our society” in America too. And yet, mozlum goons have sued in various cities because the DMV’s said faces must be shown. PD’s can’t even require taking off of such things for mug shots without being sued by those mozlums who are ‘humiliated’….not for being caught in crime, but for having to show their hair.

Good for Kyrgyzstan. I’ll note that in the 90s, I expected the -stans to islamize over time and be no different from the likes of Afghanistan or Pakistan. To their credit, they didn’t! They’re still today like the Soviet republics that they were during the Cold War
