The president of Ireland, Michael Higgins, has encouraged mass migration, saying:
Irish society should make efforts to “understand and accept the complexity of [different] identity” by reflecting on its own history of mass migration, including the Great Famine, the Flight of the Wild Geese and more recent periods.
False moral equivalences have interfered with the application of genuine justice and the implementation of appropriate political policy in Ireland, as well as in other many Western countries. The mass entry of unvetted migrants — including people who adhere to and advance the Sharia over democracy — cannot be compared to the history of Irish immigration, as Higgins purports. Immigration has historically been a two-way street between the immigrant or refugee and the host country. Immigrants were expected to benefit the country by getting a job and assimilating, while the new country offered benefits for personal and family advancement. This has not been the case with mass migration of mostly Muslim migrants from the Middle East and Africa.
Instead, mass migration in Ireland (like elsewhere in the West) “resulted in widespread social unrest, with protests frequently breaking out over the government’s efforts to establish migrant hotels throughout the country. Riots also erupted in Dublin in 2023 after a migrant stabbed three young children.”
Add in the fact that economic woes have compounded the problems associated with mass migration.
Nonetheless, despite the thousands of protesters that turned out, “counter demonstrators chanted ‘refugees are welcome here.'”
“Thousands participate in Dublin anti-immigration protest and counter demo,” by Cillian Sherlock, Independent, April 26, 2025:
Thousands of people participated in an anti-immigration protest in Dublin city centre on Saturday, after Conor McGregor posted on social media in support of the march.
There was a heightened police presence in the Irish capital for the protest and counter demonstration which disrupted traffic on some of the main thoroughfares through the city.
Public order units and mounted gardai observed the protesters and corralled the counter demonstration into a cordon behind barriers outside the General Post Office (GPO) on O’Connell Street.
Waving hundreds of Irish tricolour flags, the main protest marched from the Garden of Remembrance down past the GPO and onwards to the Customs House.
Made up of disparate groups, the protest was generally organised against the sitting Irish Government and its policies on immigration in particular.
The demonstration was also convened to mark the 1916 Easter Rising – 109 years after the armed rebellion against British rule in Ireland.
Participants held up signs with slogans including “Irish lives matter”, “Coolock Says No”, and “Ireland is Full”….
Bexarkat says
Have they begun the protest, “Deport the Jews” yet?
Heidi says
I “self-deported” from Ireland after living there for almost five years. I’m Jewish (my mother was Irish) and felt it was time to leave. There’s no place for Jews in Europe any more.

I like the fight I’m seeing in the Irish; I wish more European nations would push back instead of slouching into dhimmitude.

Judging by the insane anti-Israel (a.k.a. antisemitic) sentiment so prevalent in Ireland, I don’t hold out too much hope for that country. Seems like most of them have pretty much thrown in their lot with the enemies of Western civilization.
I recognize some countervailing forces (like the protest noted above). However, unfortunately it is probably going to take a civil war within these European nations to slow the pace of civilizational suicide.
Hoi Polloi says
Yes, I’ve read about that problem. I’ve also seen many videos of the Irish fighting back against the islamic tide being brought to their locales. I hope they win. I do question whether an aging European population has enough fight left in it for a civil war.
Hoi Polloi says
I should add that the Gardaí have been unbelievably aggressive and nasty to citizens in those videos. A thorough housecleaning is needed.
Dave says
At least some in Ireland are starting to understand what’s going on.
I hope it’s not too late and I wish them luck.

Never forget.. Muslim raiders used to attack the coasts of Ireland, back in the day, destroying villages and seizing people to ‘disappear’ them into slavery in the harems and forced labour of the dar al Islam.
NO Mohammedan should EVER have been allowed to enter and settle in Ireland.
Out with them! They belong to the very same ideology that animated those who attacked the village of Baltimore and laid it waste.
Out!

Deport those who advocate mass immigration along with the immigrants. Hope they will be happy in their new country. Same action for U K.
Isabella Hale says
He will regret that.

First time I’ve seen any evidence of Irish resenting the mass migration of muslims into their country. I was under the impression that the well being of the “Palestinians” was all that they cared about

Good first steps for Ireland.
Now finish the job…

The incredibly high levels of immigration into Australia in recent times is a big issue out here mainly because it has led to massive costs for people to buy houses or flats and massive costs to rent a place to live. Also traffic is far worse in big cities, hospitals can’t cope, etc. maybe it is the same in Ireland. Many people in Australia see the huge numbers allowed to migrate here and infrastructure being inadequate as a big Ponzi scheme that makes the economy look better than it really is and that cannot keep going.
gravenimage says
And it it not just large numbers, Tim–it is that so many of them are pious Muslims who want to murder their generous hosts and impose Islam on us.
Tim gallagher says
That’s true, gravenimage. Of course, to me, any Muslims is too many Muslims. I am with the Hungarians and poles on the issue of letting Muslims in. Most Australians would disagree. What everyone agrees on is that young people here will probably never be able to buy a house which used to be achievable for most Australians. For young people that dream is pretty much disappearing.
gravenimage says
Agreed, Tim.
dumbledoresarmy says
It’s not just that young couples can’t afford to buy.
Many – working-class, lower-middle class, people who are WORKING and earning an ordinary wage – can barely even afford to RENT.
They can’t save up for a deposit on a mortgage, because what doesn’t go on rent, goes on the basics (NOT luxuries; the basics: plain food ; a medical or dental bill; petrol for the car, that sort of thing).
And this is affecting their ability to HAVE FAMILIES.
If all or most of your resources are disappearing into the rent bill…how are you going to have kids?

DDA, this is grimly common here in California, as well.

On the eve of the potato famine, Ireland’s population was a bit over 6,000,000. Now, counting both Northern Ireland and Eire, they have about 7,000,000 after a long, slow process of recovering from the potato fmine population crash.
@infidel: Great point!

Rome was conquered when they allowed ” people of other nations” to come into Rome. The trojan horse to destroy a government and its people.
Allowing Islamic migrants into Ireland is going to create a war within by the people fighting the migrants to keep the sovereignty of the nation if the government won’t.
Sooner rather than later it will get bloody and nasty because the government did not protect the nation.
F Quigley says
“Seems like most of them have pretty much thrown in their lot with the enemies of Western civilization.”
And what has “Western Civilization ” ever done for us
You mean the British, the Potato Famine, the 1916 butchery by the British Army
Nothing at all
gravenimage says
I see that Communist F Quigley is back.
Note several ponts: he either does not consider Irish civilzaton to be Western, or else considers it worthless; he prefers *deliberate* famines like the Soviet imposed Holodomor; and he has *no* problem with Ireland being invaded and taken over by ravening Jihadists, who treat the Irish–and all other Infidels–as dhimmis to be robbed, raped, and murdered.
Islam is not going to help him impose Communism–but he does not seem to care about that, either–oddly common among hard leftists..
Alkflaeda says
It was the Celts who kept Western civilisation going in Britain and Ireland until the conversion of the Anglo-Saxons – so definitely not a present from England to Ireland!

Ireland: Thousands take to the streets to protest government mass migration agenda
………………………………..
Good to hear.
abu taleb says
If the Irish still do not recognize the real problem just like the rest of Europe and America, there is no hope at all for them. Mass migration is not the real problem, MUSLIM migration is the real problem.
We don’t hear problems in national scale with non muslim migrants like migrants from Vietnam, HK, Poland, or even Ukraine or Indian Hindus. But we have problem with muslim migration every where.
So we should only be against MUSLIM migration.

My sympathy for the Irish is limited. They want to expel these troublemakers from their country but expect Israel to live with them. The Irish has always sided with these troublemakers until these troublemakers arrived on their shores. Now the Irish are whistling a different tune. Good for them. If you don’t want to learn the easy way, learn the hard way.
