In 2018, Iran violated the Obama nuclear deal, and did so again by its own admission in 2020. Then in 2021, Iran unveiled a new underground “missile city,” as Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corp Commander Hossein Salami issued a threat: “These missiles have great destructive power and can bypass the enemy’s electronic warfare systems.”
In 2022, Israel gave the IAEA evidence of four concealed Iranian nuclear sites.
Then last year, the International Atomic Energy Agency passed a resolution “censuring Iran and demanding that it resolves outstanding issues with the IAEA over its advancing nuclear program.”
It is imprudent to think that Iran will remain true to any deal its leaders make with the IAEA or America, which it despises almost as much as Israel.
No one, except perhaps high-level intelligence operatives who are not disclosing what they know, knows the actual status of Iran’s production of a nuclear bomb.
Useless talk has gone on for years, while Iran mocked the West and continued inching along its path toward a nuclear bomb.

Western countries including the United States have long accused Iran of seeking to acquire nuclear weapons — an allegation Tehran has consistently denied, insisting that its programme is for peaceful civilian purposes.
“It’s like a puzzle. They have the pieces, and one day they could eventually put them together,” Grossi told French newspaper Le Monde in an interview published on Wednesday.
“There’s still a way to go before they get there. But they’re not far off, that has to be acknowledged,” he said.
The International Atomic Energy Agency watchdog was tasked with overseeing Iran’s nuclear programme and its compliance with a 2015 nuclear deal which collapsed three years later when the United States withdrew from it during President Donald Trump’s first term.
“It’s not enough to tell the international community ‘we don’t have nuclear weapons’ for them to believe you. We need to be able to verify,” said IAEA chief Grossi.
He arrived in Tehran on Wednesday and met Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who posted on X that the pair had had a “useful discussion”.
Araghchi called on the IAEA boss to “keep the agency away from politics” in the face of “spoilers” vying to “derail current negotiations”.
Grossi posted ahead of the meeting that Tehran’s cooperation with the IAEA was “indispensable to provide credible assurances about the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear programme at a time when diplomacy is urgently needed”.
Grossi was also expected to meet Mohammad Eslami, who heads Iran’s nuclear energy agency.
‘Maximum pressure’
Grossi’s visit comes ahead of a second round of talks between Iran and the United States on Saturday, a week after the two countries held their highest-level talks since Trump abandoned the nuclear deal in 2018.Both Tehran and Washington called the first meeting “constructive”.

Iran had, according to the IAEA, 192 pounds of 60% enriched Uranium in 2023(!), and over 8000lbs of unknown enrichment level uranium stocks. Obviously, they have enough sufficiently enriched u235 now, in 2025 for a number of bombs. 90% enrichment is not necessary for a uranium bomb to work, inefficiently.
The media doesn’t bother to look up the details of the uranium-fueled bomb dropped on Japan in WW2 or they would stop the nonsense that 90% is necessary to both destroy and contaminate an Israeli city. Iran has passed the point of having enough fuel. Its remaining problems are packaging, testing, and delivery. It developed the necessary expertise in shaped charges for detonation many years ago in the ME wars.
This is a critical decision time for Israel and the US.

I don’t have skin in the game, I’m far removed from the ME. I thought that after a nuclear strike it’s pretty much no man’s land for a really really long time. Wouldn’t Israel just become an atomic wasteland if one or more nuclear devices exploded over the country? How could that be beneficial to the Islamic cause if they can’t inhabit the land? Please, if I’m wrong correct me.

True, Iran bombing Israel would not be rational to any normal leader when it means that Palestinians would also die in huge numbers in Israel and leave a wasteland. However, a goal of Iranian leadership is to be the nation which eliminates Israel and ascends to the world leadership of Islam.
The long-range competition for Iran appears to be with Saudi Arabia and control of Mecca is the goal. Israel is both a roadblock and a stepping-stone for Iranian ambitions.
Please correct this if wrong – despite the media tossing out absurd Hamas figures for dying Palestinians and the continual claims of the same about starving children, no Muslim nation is actually spending its army in battling Israel. This speaks poorly for the perceived status of Palestinians in the Muslim world and the sham claims of international Muslim “brotherhood”.

The reason Iran or any other islamic country would like to nuke Israel is not so that “Palestinian” Arab muslims can move in & settle there, but b’cos there can’t be a Jewish (or Christian or Hindu or Buddhist or any other religion’s) state at the same site that was once a part of islamic empires, be it Arab or Turkish

Iran’s PR strategy is very different from Israel’s. Israel has ‘made it known’ over many y that they have a hundred or so A-bombs, which is presumed to be sufficient (with credible delivery aircraft & missiles) to create max deterrence. Iran by contrast goes on for year after year ‘just on the brink’ when it is extremely difficult to imagine why they could have failed to make a few A-bombs by now. They do not need to test one in order to achieve deterrence; Israel may not have tested one, tho’ that explosion in the S. Atlantic c.1978 sure looked like one undeclared.
As a scientist not involved in nuclear weapons I have been active against them for decades. The relevant intelligence agencies of Israel, USA, UK etc may well be working on the belief that Iran has made a few but slinks along looking innocent, pseudo-incompetent, . . .
As Steve supposes, such bombs would be of little or no practical utility. When the late Admiral of the Fleet Lord Mountbatten had been in command of NATO’a A-bombs, he published a brief essay to the effect that they have no conceivable use. I know of no authority purporting to over-ride his opinion.
In the mid-E & near-E as elsewhere, A-bombs are a bluff, squandering the resources of nations so misguided as to make them.

I never know what to believe with this particular story.. Obviously the satan worshippers in Iran want the bomb and would use the bomb but how close are they really?? I’ve been hearing they’re close since the early 2000’s.. Whatever the real answer is i hope and pray our leaders never allow them to succeed in getting one…. You can’t allow evil people to have that weapon..
