The Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) can always be counted on to support jihadis and jihad sympathizers, and to oppose all efforts that are designed to stop jihadis from being able to act. Yet it still has widespread and easy access to and influence over numerous elected officials, policymakers, law enforcement agencies, and more — which is testimony to the ignorance of the latter, and/or to their indifference to the well-being of Americans.

The Council on American Islamic Relations is seeking to block Columbia University from turning over records to Congress this week related to the pro-Hamas group Students for Justice in Palestine’s activities on campus, court filings reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon show.
The Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) asked Columbia to produce records related to SJP’s activities, finances, potential links to terrorist groups, and overall “threats to campus safety” by Wednesday. CAIR, which is suing Columbia’s board of trustees on behalf of detained protest leader Mahmoud Khalil and several other foreign anti-Israel students, objected to the request.
Releasing the documents, attorneys with CAIR’s legal defense fund argued, could implicate Khalil and his classmates. They asked a federal judge in New York to implement a 30-day review period, during which CAIR could assess the documents and file objections. The judge, Arun Subramanian, responded by ordering Columbia to delay the release of the documents until Friday for CAIR’s review, according to court filings.
The ordeal comes as Columbia attempts to restore hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funds frozen by the Trump administration. To do so, it must placate federal regulators and lawmakers with policy changes meant to quell anti-Semitism on its campus. Many Columbia faculty members and students, however, object to those changes—as do anti-Israel activists groups like CAIR, which is working to stop Columbia from cooperating with the federal government.
CAIR sued Columbia on behalf of Khalil and seven other Columbia and Barnard College students on Mar. 14, saying the school’s “decision to cooperate with this political witch hunt puts hundreds of students in danger of government retaliation, doxxing, and harassment.”…

What is CAIR afraid the government will find out? That SJP is a well funded organization, and a significant amount of that comes from foreign countries and terrorism supporters?
Typical of Islamic groups, like the Islamic Society of Boston, which had terror supporters writing out checks to them, but when connections were published, the newspapers and other media (like Americans for Peace and Tolerance) were sued. After being forced to turn over discovery, including copies of checks from terror supporters, the suit was dropped, but the media stopped reporting on it. Job done.

As I comment at JW previously, CAIR did not prevail in court.
In fact, they were not really prepared for success, as Judge Subramanian remarked –

“District Judge Arun Subramanian denied the request for a temporary restraining order, citing issues in the plaintiffs’ motion such as not addressing their standing to sue or their risk of irreparable harm from these actions.
In other words this wasn’t a serious lawsuit. Being able to prove standing in order to sue is pretty basic.
“But as plaintiffs all but conceded at last week’s hearing, the current complaint and motion papers fail to address some threshold requirements they need to satisfy to obtain this wide-ranging relief,” Subramanian wrote.
The judge notes some records have already been sent to the lawmakers and cannot be undone, but the university did scrub any identifying student information before sending the files over.
“As to any further production of records, Columbia says it doesn’t intend to produce any at the present time. And for their part, the Congressional defendants aren’t currently asking for any further records,” Subramanian said. ”
Despite announcing CAIR filing suit, the TV media gave little attention to CAIR bungling the case in court.
This all amounted to simply another publicity stunt by CAIR.

And that is exactly the point: because “implicate” means to
“show (someone) to be involved in a crime:”

CAIR was an unindicted coconspirator in a terrorist funding case. The UAE lists CAIR as a terrorist organization, but for reasons best known to the US gubbmint, we don’t.

Secretary Rubio has done yeoman’s work in cracking down on foreign antisemites on US campuses. But now, it’s time that he takes a good look at the muslim brotherhood, as well as its ties to CAIR and Hamas, and accordingly works w/ DHS to crack down on CAIR. This is an organization that even the Saudis classify as a terrorist organization, due to its muslim brotherhood links. There is no reason for the US to tolerate such an organization just to demonstrate that it is not “Islamophobic”

I have never understood why CAIR has 5013C tax deductible status. It is the same as a tax payer funded subsidy. Same goes for any mosque with terrorist or anti-American activities or speech.
