Just completed watching the video – very good video. My only “criticism” of that Muhammad drawing is that Muhammad’s beard should have been a foot long, to reflect the beards we typically see on jihadists – from Osama to Ahmad al-Shara’a. But otherwise, it was great
Thank you both for describing in detail what went on in Garland that day. Now that we have a sane FBI, I do hope that what they did that day can be exposed, even if any statutes of limitations have lapsed. I don’t expect Kash Patel or Dan Bongino to put this at the top of their priorities – they have plenty on their plate as it is – but at least the facts of what the FBI did at that time should come out. So that future agents know what not to do. The Bosch cartoon itself was brilliant on so many levels – no wonder he won that award. It might as well be the flag of the free-speech-against-islam movement worldwide
Glad to know about the theme of Pigman: I’ll grab it whenever I can. Is it available in ebook form on Nook? I liked the initial theme – a superhero who fights jihadists, although the latter, where he gets a twin who’s a “recovered muslim” was a tad confusing. Incidentally, speaking of the Miss Marvel superhero who’s muslim, is Bosch allowed to include her in any of his comics, as being exposed by Pigman as either an ignoramus or a fraud? Or does Marvel have complete rights on that? It would be an interesting twist if he could
On the question of whether islam is a religion, I know Bosch has disagreed w/ me on these pages. However, I’ve just completed reading Rebecca Bynum’s book “allah is dead: why islam is not a religion”, and there was one thing she wrote that stood out. She wrote “In the view of islam, as Pope Benedict XVI pointed out in his Regensburg address, God’s purpose is so transcendent as to be unknowable, which is to say, God is unknowable to the individual. And again, there is no practical difference between that and the assertion that God does not exist, for His will, and therefore God himself, according to islam, cannot be known”. Essentially, Rebecca points out that there is essentially little difference b/w islam and Atheism. In other words, if islam is a religion, so are Atheism and Communism
About Bosch’s upbringing, I do think it’s fascinating that Albania was muslim under the Ottomans, then a part of Italy under Mussolini and then hardcore communist – actually Maoist – after WWII. So essentially, those people have lived under both communism and islam. The stories of how Albanians set up Italian restaurants – maybe in addition to honoring Hitler, they could honor Mussolini as well, and embrace those few years that they were an exclave of Italy? 😈 I do think that communism somewhat blunted some of the sharper edges of islam, although as he pointed out, both antisemitism and misogyny both existed. As for the 2nd & 3rd generation of Albanians, they may not be antisemitic by default, but Academia being hotbeds of antisemitism could yet swing them back that route. The reason Bosch chose to turn away from islam was interesting. Also funny was the claim by the imams that they were White, and therefore, to go easy on them
All in all a great interview. All the best to Bosch for his comic book series
