The pope, who is known to phone Gaza every day — or did until his latest hospitalization — to see how the victims of what he once suggested is Israeli “genocide” are doing, is strangely silent on the massacres of Christians by Muslims. Daniel Greenfield wrote about his selective sympathy here. Greenfield notes that Pope Francis has made no mention of this bloody massacre of 70 Christians in a church in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and instead spoke about “the serious humanitarian emergency in Gaza.”
There is not a “humanitarian emergency” in Gaza. The world keeps being warned that Gaza “is on the brink of famine,” but that “famine” has still not appeared. There is, however, the dismal fact that Hamas insists on seizing so much of the humanitarian aid for its own members and their families, and diverting some of the rest to sell, at exorbitant prices, to the Gazan civilians for whom it had been intended by its donors to be distributed for free. The pope has never once denounced Hamas for this practice; in fact he has had far too little to say about Hamas and its savage mistreatment of the hostages, or about the atrocities it carried out on October 7, 2023, when 6,000 members of Hamas crashed into Israel, and proceeded to rape, torture, mutilate, and murder 1,200 Israelis.
The pope has also stated: “Let us pray for martyred Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, Myanmar, Sudan and Kivu.”
Though the pope treats it as if it exists, there is no state of “Palestine.” And what makes him say that “Palestine” is being martyred? Is he referring to the IDF’s war on the terrorists in Hamas? Or to the people of Gaza whose lives are deliberately put at risk by Hamas, that embeds itself in civilian buildings, in order to use them as human shields? Does the pope know that the IDF makes a tremendous effort to avoid civilian casualties, while Hamas makes a great effort to increase them? Has the pope been told about the IDF’s practice of warning civilians away from sites about to be targeted? Does he know, for example, that the IDF as of last March had dropped nine million leaflets, sent fifteen million text messages, and made sixteen million robocalls, to warn Gazans to leave areas soon to be struck? He has never given signs of recognizing that IDF practice, which had caused West Point professor of urban war studies, John Spencer, to conclude that “Israel has implemented more measure to prevent civilian casualties in urban warfare than any other military in the history of war.”
The pope has even said: “I want to say clearly that I do not like it when people speak of a ‘genocide of Christians,’ for example in the Middle East.”
Why doesn’t Pope Francis like it when people speak about a “genocide of Christians” in the Middle East — where Christians have been attacked, persecuted, and even killed by Muslims, in Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Lebanon? Why doesn’t he stand up for the Christians, either, in Africa, and clearly name their tormentors and killers — Muslims — in the DRC, in the Sudan, in Nigeria, and elsewhere in Africa? Perhaps he doesn’t “like it” — that is, to talk about a “genocide of Christians,” not because it is false, but because it is true, and he doesn’t want anything to be said against Muslims, or Islam, for whom he has such a curious affection. It is incredible that Pope Francis does not include in his list of the “martyred” the Christians of Nigeria — as if this greatest of all anti-Christian pogroms in Africa is not worth mentioning. And when the Christians of southern Nigeria tried in 1967 to establish the separate state of Biafra, where Christians would be safe from Muslim persecution, the Biafra War (1967-1970) resulted. During that war more than two million Christians died of famine after the Muslims established a naval blockade, cutting off supplies of food. The killing of Christians in Nigeria continues to this day, but aside from meeting in 2023 with two girls who had been kidnapped by Boko Haram, the pope has said very little about the continuing Muslim-on-Christian violence in Africa’s most populous nation. He calls for peace in vague terms, instead of insisting that the world’s Christians show solidarity with the victims of Muslim aggression. He ascribes the Muslim persecution and murder of Christians not to the texts and teachings of Islam, but instead to economic “colonialism” by European powers.
Pope Francis has recently endured several health crises and has been prescribed long periods of bed rest. He might put that time to good use by reading about the history of the Muslim persecution of Christians in Africa and the Middle East for the last 1400 years, a subject he clearly knows little about. That would be time well spent, both for him and for his flock of 1.4 billion Catholics who rely on him for guidance.

It is like a placenta that protects the newly conceived, but shortly before birth, the placenta allows material into the fetus so that the fetus can fend for itself after birth. The error has been leaking into the Church for the last 60 years, and its Francis job to destroy whatever protection is left. In the Fatima prophecy, the pope does not die of natural causes but a violent death.

He needs to be sent a copy of Mark Durie’s book “The Third Choice: Islam, Dhimmitude and Freedom”, together with Bat Yeor’s “The Dhimmi: Jews and Christians Under Islam”, and “The Decline of Eastern Christianity Under Islam”.
