We’ve had the “exploding pagers” and then the “exploding walkie-talkies” operations that severely wounded nearly 4,000 members of Hezbollah. Now, in a technical feat of a different kind, the Israelis have been sowing tiny intelligence-gathering devices, dropped from IAF drones on various sites in Gaza. The feat is in the miniaturization of these devices, making them so small — “as small as a worm” — that they are difficult to locate. More about the drones that drop these devices, and about the devices themselves, can be found here: “IDF deploying ‘worm-sized’ spy devices in Gaza to track hostages, future targets – report,” Jerusalem Post, March 12, 2025:
Israel has recently intensified its intelligence operations, using drones to deploy espionage devices in various areas of the Gaza Strip and collect information on future targets, the London-based Arabic newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat reported, citing sources from Palestinian terror factions in Gaza.
The report also said that some of these drones are being used to gather intelligence on hostages still held in Gaza.
Other sources from Gaza-based terrorist organizations claimed that the newly deployed surveillance tools released by drones include cameras and other wiretapping devices as small as a worm. These devices, they alleged, are hidden in bags placed in remote areas, cemeteries, and sometimes even in densely populated neighborhoods.
The sources further stated that operatives from terrorist groups have identified and neutralized some of these espionage attempts.
According to the report, Gaza’s security forces have been monitoring these drop sites to determine whether Israeli operatives arrive to collect the devices.
This surveillance has reportedly led to the arrest of several Palestinians….
According to a Hamas-affiliated Telegram channel, Al-Hares (The Guardian), A Hamas commander within Gaza’s National Security stated that Israel has increased its intelligence operations in the Strip, particularly during Ramadan, as part of efforts to gather information about hostages.
The message further instructed Gazans to avoid sharing information about Hamas members, limit media exposure, and refrain from posting details on social media.
Israeli scientists have been able to miniaturize the cameras and wiretapping devices far beyond what has hitherto been available. They have also improved the performance of the drones used to drop them in sites throughout Gaza, where the IDF has decided it most needs to gather intelligence. Some of that intelligence is about Hamas operatives and their weapons, and some is about the whereabouts of those Israeli hostages believed to still be alive. Hamas is aware of these tiny devices, having managed to locate a few of them. But how many more, do you think, have the IDF’s drones managed to drop into both out-of-the-way places, including cemeteries and hidden inside bags in remote parts of the Strip, and into the midst of cities and refugee camps? Hamas is alarmed, and no doubt frantically searching for these devices, but in the midst of all that rubble, this is like looking for a tenth of a needle in five hundred haystacks.
This is one more instance of how Israeli scientists keep outfoxing the Jewish state’s enemies, from Iran, with the computer worm Stuxnet that caused Iranian centrifuges used to enrich uranium to whirl so fast that they destroyed themselves, to Hezbollah, with the “exploding pagers” used to harm thousands of Hezbollah operatives, and now, to Hamas, which is trying desperately to locate the latest intelligence-gathering devices “as small as a worm” that are being dropped by drones all over Gaza.

Satellites can be sent millions of miles into space and then send back information to people on earth. The people don’t need to go out to space and “collect” the cameras and other devices in order to know what was gathered by the satellites.
Perhaps the Israelis don’t need to go and actually pick up the devices to gather the information from them.
But since the sources are ‘palestinians,’ how can anyone be sure the reports are truthful?

Embedding these miniature cameras after flying them in drones into those strategic spots within the Gaza strip is the main job that needs to be done. Those cameras hopefully already have a wireless connection to home, so that their data can be collected on servers, just like security systems that we have here. All that footage can easily be used in criminal trials
Essentially, it converts Gaza into China, or any other heavily spied society. But I do trust the Israelis, unlike the Chicoms, to use it for hunting jihadists, rather than to curb the freedoms of their own citizens

Also they would not transmit continually, just come up and send a burst
of data then change frequency and next time send it on the new frequency.
This sort of technique is probably “Old Hat” !

Using an OSI network model, this would probably be at the physical layer. At the terminal where all this is being sent, they can have various channels and ports pre-configured to receive all of these at various times. Add to it layers of encryption, such as IPSEC, and it won’t even be crackable by the enemies

Islam is terrorist culture of deceit and terrorism as taught in Islam’s Quran(Quran 3:54; 8:30; 9:5,29,111 and more).
Non-Muslims CANNOT have peace with Islam, a Terrorist Enterprise, and its deceitful Muslims because Islam and its murderous god, Allah, demand a continuous Muslim war, a RELIGIOUS DUTY, against unbelievers where Non-Muslims are CRIMINALS under Islam due to illegal UNBELIEF and unlawful BLASPHEMY against Allah when despicable Allah in Qur’an 8:39 says, “And engage in war with them[Non-Muslims] until there will not be sedition and the religion will be completely to Allah…” HENCE, NON-MUSLIMS MUST MAKE ISLAM, ITS MOSQUES, ITS SCHOOLS, ITS COURTS, ETC. ILLEGAL UNDER THE LAW. Similarly, Islam and its many Organizations must be identified and publicly declared to be MUSLIM TERRORIST ORGANIZATIONS(MTO) for their funding, teaching, and support of terrorism, violence, and discrimination against Non-Muslims as taught in Islam’s Quran(eg. Quran 3:151; 9:5,29,111; 98:6-7 and more).

We don’t need to know this. We don’t need to know anything about whatever clever ideas the Israelis have come up with, to defend themselves against jihad.
Anything at all that gives non-Muslims – whether Jewish or non-Jewish – an ‘edge’ in their resistance to the Jihad, should NOT be widely publicised; let the Mohammedan mob be continually taken by surprise.

Even alluding to intelligence gathering devices that do not exist can be weaponized against those who are traditionally paranoid.

You’re right! Why can’t Israel just keep its secret close to its vest, like the US? Here in the US, we are only now going to learn about the official details of the assassinations of the Kennedy brothers and Martin Luther King. Maybe Israel needn’t be that anal, but they can certainly embargo information for, say, 50 years before they allow its release?

Agree, DDA–but it would be hard for Hamas to do anything about this. I think this is pretty safe. And if Jihad terrorists are distracted by trying to find worm-sized devices, all the better.

I am wondering if drones could dig tunnels from the Israeli side of the border, that would reach the Hamas ones – the drones could be directed on the basis of the data that they were feeding back of visual and auditory clues to nearby Hamas diggings. Obviously, it would be necessary to ensure that the excavations were extremely well-guarded (more drones?) to prevent Hamas from using them once they had connected with their tunnels, but it would be a way of ensuring that their bolt holes were no longer safe from Israeli penetration, without the loss of IDF soldiers in the process. Israel could monitor the images that would be coming through, and decide whether/when to deploy the drones’ weapons..

Israel could ask Elon Musk if he could get his other company – “The Boring Company” – to work on this. I’m sure they’d like a project like this, especially if it can be automated, w/ minimal manpower

Israel’s Intelligence Gathering in Gaza: Devices ‘as Small as Worms’

Excellent to hear! Bravo to Israel and her learned and innovative scientists. Islam still hasn’t figured out the these being un-Islamic might be anything but an asset–but they are not even apt to learn this under these circunstances. Brute force against Israel has not worked for over three quarters of a century so far,..
