The treatment of Amirali Minaei could have been worse. Shi’ite Islam, like Sunni Islam, prescribes the death penalty for apostasy:
Shaykh al-Kulayni narrates a sahíh (correct) hadith from `Ammãr as-Sãbãti who said: I heard (Imam) Abu `Abdullãh (as-Sãdiq) (a.s.) saying, “A Muslim from among the Muslims who renounces Islam and rejects the prophethood of Muhammad and considers him untrue, then verily his blood is lawful (mubãh) for anyone who hears that from him, his wife is to be separated from him the day he became murtad [apostate], his wealth will be divided among his heirs, and his wife will observe the `idda of a widow (i.e., four months). The Imam is obliged to kill him, and not ask him to seek forgiveness.” (Furu al-Kãfi, vol. 7, p. 257)
The Islamic Republic of Iran might not carry out this sentence in the absence of the Imam, but they’re not likely to be lenient and kind to the converts, either.

The Article 18 website reported that guard Mehdi Salim struck Minaei in the chest and heart area.
Prison authorities refused Minaei access to the prison clinic or a cardiologist following the assault….
Officials have denied all his requests for medical visits or specialist referrals since the beginning of his sentence….
In March 2024, the court sentenced him to 3 years and 7 months in prison and revoked his social rights after convicting him of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic” for his religious activities and for establishing a house church….

Can’t find any details on him; I was curious because his photo gives me the impression that he is an intelligent, educated man. Reports said he was refused release for treatment due to his being seen as unwilling to cooperate and that this likely means he refused to infiltrate and report on Christians. His only supposed crime was attending in-house meetings with other Christians.

The real reason why the ayatollahs and mullahs who have so much power in that tyrannical Islamic regime of Iran and so they put this Christian man and put him in prison is because of they’re afraid that if the Iranian people would even hear the Bible read or start to compare and contrast the Bible with Qur ‘an the people of Iran might start to view the Bible and the superior of those two different books.
Since, that Islamic tyranny is based on Islam and it’s Sharia which have their total foundation on the Qur”an is could be a threat to those in power in Iran if the people did discover that the Bible is ,indeed, better and superior to that “holy book” of Islam.
Therefore those Muslim clerics along with other Muslim tyrants do have “security concerns” when it comes to Christians making known the Bible to the people of Iran.
