India: Designer apologizes for holding fashion show during Ramadan

The principle is always and everywhere the same: in Muslim countries, non-Muslims must conform their behavior to Islamic sensibilities. And in non-Muslim countries, non-Muslims must conform their behavior to Islamic sensibilities.

A fashion show held on the snowy slopes of a ski resort in India’s Muslim-majority Kashmir region during Ramadan has faced criticism for failing to respect local sensitivities.

Indian design label Shivan & Narresh apologised for organising the fashion show with a dozen models on Friday to mark their 15th anniversary, releasing their new holiday as well as skiwear collection.

Images and videos from the event were widely shared on social media, triggering some outrage among locals who called it a form of “obscenity”, particularly during Islam’s holy month.

Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah said the reaction was understandable given the organisers’ apparent disregard for local sensitivities.

He said his office is seeking a detailed report on the matter, promising appropriate action. “The shock and anger are totally understandable. The images I have seen show a complete disregard for local sensitivities & that too during this holy month,” he said on X.

“My office has been in touch with the local authorities and I’ve asked for a report to be submitted within the next 24 hours. Further action, as appropriate, will follow from this report.”

In a statement posted on X, Shivan & Narresh issued an apology for any “unintended discomfort” caused.

“We deeply regret any hurt caused by our recent presentation in Gulmarg during the holy month of Ramadan. Our sole intention was to celebrate creativity and the ski & après-ski lifestyle, without any desire to offend anyone or any religious sentiments,” it said.

“Respect for all cultures and traditions is at our heart, and we acknowledge the concerns raised. We sincerely apologize for any unintended discomfort and appreciate the feedback from our community.”…

    • If non-muslim activities during Ramadan are so offensive, why were any muslims watching the fashion show? If you don’t like it, dont look. Your rules don’t apply to me.

      • Pardon me if I fail to conform my behavior to Islamic sensibilities. The problem is that I have utter contempt for Islam, Muslim sensibilities, and stupid non-Muslims who care a fig about the sensibilities of people who thrive upon hatred of non-Muslims and desire to murder them.

        • I was thinking (I sometimes do that) this morning about all of the people who feel thus, could be called “The Offenders” as we do not care if we “offend” the people who want us dead. They want us dead at their hands. They want to shed our blood and rape our children.
          So the only way to show them they that are going to lose this battle, is to “offend” them. Rather than giving in, giving them what they demand, we deny that and if it causes offense, we simply don’t care.
          We are “The Offenders.”

Under Islam and Islamic Law, Muslims have the legal right to terrorize Non-Muslims because neglecting this DIVINE DUTY is a Crime against Allah; Jihad means warfare against Non-Muslims to ESTABLISH ISLAM’S RELIGION(Quran 3:151; 9:29; Muslim Law Manual: “Reliance of the Traveller”, o9.0 and more).

    More specifically, Islam, a terroristic-destructive way of life, is a Muslim Terrorist Ideology and Murderous, Criminal Enterprise of intolerance, continuous war, discrimination, segregation, supremacy, genocide, polygamy, propaganda, deceit, hatred, incitement, sedition, rape, terrorism, and violence against all Non-Muslims as taught in the Quran(Quran 2:216; 4:65,89,95; 5:14,64; 8:12,39,74; 9:5,21,29,36, 41,49,88,111,123; 21:92; 49:15 and more).

    People need to decide that to give in, is to lose….everything. People need to decide to stop catering to mozlums and do what they wish to do and when the mozlums whine, don’t apologize. The mozlums are gonna’ murder anyway; so throw off the fear of them and do what you think right.

    • Except that it’s Kashmir, and the Indian government did not do its job of de-islamizing the place, as it would have needed to had it been serious about undermining the Paki claims in that state. As for that state government, it’s run by one more of those islamic parties, which is miffed that somebody else beat them to the outrage sprint

  5. In a Champions League soccer game today they took a 60 second Brake for the Muslims celebrating Ramadan so that they could Drink something.
    IT IS disgusting.

    • Disgusting, Andra. When was the game held? If during the day, Muslims are *not suppossed* to drink anything; if at night, why don’t they just go and take a drink like anyone else? No one else needs the game paused–they either have a drink during halftime, or else just leave at a hopefully slack time to buy or drink something.

  6. According to one open source, Gulmarg is visited by 2.23 million tourists and the tourism industry generates 21.5 billion euros. Maybe someone should organize a boycott of the ski resort and see how fast the Muslims change their tune when they are deprived of all that money. Absolutely sickening. India has tolerated mass Muslim migration for far too long, and I sadly think they are beyond recovery, short of violent civil war.

    • People from outside India have no reason to go to Kashmir. There are far superior ski resorts worldwide – in Canada, US, Europe, Russia…. The ones in Kashmir are just there to fleece you, and the skiing experience is nowhere like in other places

  7. I just looked it up. 80 percent Hindus in India and 14 percent Muslims. There should be no apology to the Muslim barbaric scum. They should have the shit kicked out of them and be forced to run away to Pakistan and Bangladesh. It seems that, all around the world, the violence and murderous behaviour of Muslims makes non Muslims cave in to their wishes. Murderous violence of Muslim scum should not be allowed to win.

      • Thanks for the comments, Brian and I am the infidel. I get so sick of seeing the constant threat of murderous violence from the Muslims in all our societies actually seeming to win. In all our non Muslim societies it is time to wake up and kick evil islam and it’s followers out.

    • Unfortunately, 75 years too late. By now, there are about as many mohammedans in India as there are in either Pakistan or Bangladesh

      • True. I do think that Indians are more aware of just how destructive they are though. Here in Europe, it’s still the religion of peace mantra. At least for our deplorable leaders anyway.

      • Yes–the Muslim population in India has grown, and the Hindu, Sikh, and Christian population in Pakistan and Bangladesh has been almost wiped out.

  12. Every inch and concession we give to islam is a step towards total control over OUR lives by islamic leaders.

    We should NEVER apologize or change our life style or beliefs just to keep from offending islamic followers. Oh and by the way islamic followers won’t change theirs ever.

    Islamic followers will kill you for offending their RAMA-DAM holiday not just accept an apology.

    Good grief, what claptrap. And what are Muslims doing going to a ski resort during Ramadan? And it they are not going, why would they care what unbelivers are looking at?

    Note that it is also Lent–but Christians don’t consider fashion shows held now to be “obscenity” and demand they not be held now–they either enjoy them, or skip them if they consider it inapproproiate for themselves. Same with Jews and upcoming Passover–no complaints, no threats.

    But pious Muslims are told they have to continue to threaten Infidels until “all religion is for Allah”.
