Damon Joshua was dismissed by Severn Trent Water after he described Hamas as “a group of violent and disgusting terrorists” in a post on the company’s staff intranet website on the anniversary of the attack.
In the post in question, Mr Joshua said: “One year ago our valued partners and friends, Israel, were horrifically attacked by a group of violent and disgusting terrorists.
“I can say with confidence today that the vast majority of STW’s employees stand in solidarity with our Jewish, Israeli and Zionist colleagues against the evil of Islamist terror.”
Apparently not. Standing in solidarity against Islamic terrorism is not diverse or inclusive.
The post was taken down by managers at the company following internal complaints that “the terminology being used includes very derogatory words” and “is very one-sided”.
According to documents seen by The Telegraph, one complainant said: “The post reflects poorly on Severn Trent’s reputation as a diverse and inclusive company.”
At his disciplinary hearing he was told that the post had caused “significant offence” to three members of staff who complained about it.
Managers concluded that “this offence is in relation to a protected characteristic, specifically religious belief” and dismissed him for gross misconduct.
He was told that “the language used in the post caused offence to employees with different perspectives, particularly those with Muslim or Palestinian backgrounds”.
That there are employees offended by “derogatory” language toward Islamic terrorists working at a water company ought to be a matter of greater concern.
Severn Trent has a whole booklet on ‘Doing the Right Thing’ which includes being ‘inclusive’, ‘sustainable’ and ‘taking pride’.
Supporting Islamic terrorists isn’t anywhere in there but I guess it’s implied unless you hear ‘inclusive’.

I can see the path being paved for the acceptance of Islam with the extreme precepts of DEI. All beliefs are private but DEI teaches that you cannot differ. Even if it offends your principals and beliefs. So go along with the beliefs of sex with children (Muhammed did), decapitation if your beliefs differ and much more. I have rights as well.

anyone with functioning gray matter would understand that Joshua is calling Hamas disgusting because of their actions, not because of their religious or ethnic identity. He did not call them “violent and disgusting Muslims” or “violent and disgusting Arabs”

This is a direct result of allowing people to claim there are two sides to October 7. There are no two sides to what happened that day which was a series of war crimes. It was a crime against humanity. It was inexcusable, and there is no justification for what happened.
Nevertheless, for over a year we have allowed provocations like shutting down bridges, freeways, Christmas, and taunting child cancer patients, fighting with police, attacking Jewish students all under the guise of “free speech”, when it is really support for Hamas and their actions.
And, now this has become so normalized that Hamas supporters are a protected class.
