New in PJ Media:
Well, now there is no doubt about it, as if there were before this: the Democrats, and the left in general, hate the Constitution. They have attempted to cover this up in various ways over the years, chiefly with the ridiculous legal theories that underpinned Roe v. Wade and other highly questionable judicial decisions — you know, all the business about Constitutional rights that nobody ever noticed before being hidden in “emanations” of “penumbras” of what was actually said in the founding document. Now, however, with Roe overturned, such tendentious interpretations are wearing thin, and Democrats are feeling freer to express their contempt for the Constitution openly.
This played out in Colorado recently, as Fox News reported Sunday: “a Republican lawmaker from Colorado expressed shock at being told by Democratic colleagues that he had to remove a sticker supporting the Second Amendment from his laptop while in the state’s House chamber.” It’s not surprising that it would be about the Second Amendment. Democrats have hated that one for decades, and have tried in innumerable ways to take an axe to it. In Colorado this time, however, they had to content themselves with silencing someone who dared to express open support for the hated Constitutional provision.
Colorado state Rep. Ken DeGraaf, who is, of course, a Republican, explained: “I had to cover up this, they couldn’t stand my sticker.” He pointed to “paper covering up a sticker in support of the Second Amendment on a laptop he carried with him to the chamber,” and added: “It said ‘shall not be infringed’ and signed ‘2-A’ and that was considered offensive, which I understand would be offensive to this bill.” The bill in question was, said Fox, “a controversial gun control bill that would limit the sale of some semiautomatic firearms that rely on detachable magazines, such as the popular AR-15 platform.”
This would be “one of the strictest gun control measures in the country, something the state’s Democratic lawmakers argue is necessary to keep citizens safe.” Yeah. A disarmed citizenry is a safe citizenry, right, comrade? DeGraaf’s winsome Democrat colleague, state Rep. Meg Froelich, declared: “Preventing gun violence is one of the most effective ways that we can make our communities safer and save lives. Semi-automatic weapons and high-capacity magazines are uniquely lethal and dangerous.” Yeah, and if they’re illegal, they’ll vanish from Colorado, won’t they?
Froelich added: “This bill is a commonsense solution to ensure that people receive effective training and meet the requirements under state and federal firearm laws before purchasing the most lethal weapons on the market. From background checks and waiting periods to limits on high-capacity magazines, Colorado Democrats have enacted multiple laws to protect Coloradans from future gun violence.” Yeah. Because as everyone knows, the government loves us and has a wonderful plan for our lives, and no one in America has ever had to defend himself from tyranny, right? Just ask Sam Adams or Paul Revere.

Like and agree with so much on this site, but not on this issue. As a Canadian I am so thankful that the ugly and stupid second amendment and gun culture rhetoric has no traction in Canada. Just one of a host of reasons why Canadians will never agree to be part of your rapidly disintegrating failed state. We love and celebrate our beautiful, free and sovereign country which excels, surpasses and out classes the US in so many ways.

Canada is a failing State before your eyes as Islamization progresses rapidly to enslaved you like you desire to do. Allah is merciful to those Muslims who emigrate and perform jihad. Qur’an 8:74 says, “And those who believed and emigrated and performed jihad for the sake of Allah, and those who gave asylum and helped, those are the true believers; they will receive forgiveness and generous provisions.”

If you take away all the inner city shootings (e.g. Chicago, Baltimore, New York City, Los Angeles, etc.) , the U.S. is among the safest nations with respect to firearm deaths. Notice that most problem areas are in states with the strictest gun control measures.
London used to be a safe city, not because of gun control, but rather because of a city of Brits. Now, after they imported violent Muzzies, the safe days of London are over. Now, they primarily use knives, but firearm deaths in gun free England are now taking a high percentage of their homicides. Canada is not too far behind. Those Toronto and Montreal Muzzies seem to be able to find guns to shoot up Jewish schools, even with Canada’s strict gun laws. Next it will be the schools of all non Muzzies. And you (all your disarmed citizenry) wil be helpless to do anything. Homicidal shooters love “gun-free zones.”
Including the inner city deaths in the U.S., the yearly number of people killed by firearms in the US is about the same as the number killed in auto accidents, about 40,000. And, over half the US firearms deaths are suicides. In contrast, the number killed by medical malpractice is about 250,000 and that number goes up to 400,000 when you include medical errors that may not rise to provable malpractice. If airplanes were engineered and built the way medicine is practiced, there would be a major plane crash multiple times per day.
My firearms (and the firearms of all responsible gun owners) happen to be well-behaved. They sit around for months in the same spot, until I take them out to the range. They follow all the NRA safety rules as well as the local range rules. Then they go back to the car and back to the house to sit for another few months until the next outing. But they remain ever vigilant just in case. There is one , however, that often comes with me. But so far it has stayed tucked in and just is there for the ride.

We do have a problem in Canada: Guns and fentanyl are flooding into Canada from the US. None going the other way. US is a cultural wasteland of violent gun-obsessed madmen, crazed drug users and porn addicts. Your Orange Dumpster Governor Trump has wet dreams about sending his Orc army of goose stepping fascists into Canada to rape and pillage our resources and subjugate our people. “Just following orders” was not an acceptable defence at the Nuremberg trials of NAZI war criminals. Remember that MAGA.

Stephen Henderson is the Classic example of the ” Smug Little Canadian ” Brian. Thirty five years ago I was in Service to America. I left Canada to destroy Republican Guardsmen. My Senior NCOs and Officers always referred to Canada as ” Socialist ” Canada, or ” Commie ” Canada. Canada is overrun by Third World Criminals, and the Liberal Party of Canada is bought and paid for by the PRC.
I haven’t even scratched the surface here.
Stephen Henderson says
Canada, like most other civilized countries in the World other than the US, has sane and sensible gun laws. By the way, our small population of responsible hunters own some 7 million rifles; every one of them will be aimed at any United Statian who sets foot in our country as an invader.
Brent Horton says
Really? Sane and sensible ” Gun Laws ” ? Like what for instance? The vilification of Legal Firearms Ownership? Catch and release for gun violence? Magazine restrictions, while the Gang Bangers use 30 and 40 round sticks in their illegally converted full auto glocks?

Stephen Henderson: Putting aside your rank antipathy to America, you should read John Lott’s “More Guns, Less Crime.” In this work with a copious amount of evidence Lott demonstrates that the safest places in America are those with the most legal gun owners. As already mentioned, the places in America with the most gun control laws are the least safe.
After all, if you were a house thief and you could rob affluent Neighborhood #1 which has most everyone in that neighborhood a gun owner and this fact is well known (e.g., signs like “Gun control here means a steady hand” and “This property guarded four nights a week by a Smith& Wesson; you guess the nights”) or affluent Neighborhood #2 where no one is a gun owner, this is well known, and signs are everywhere stating that this neighborhood is a gun-free zone, which neighborhood are you going to choose to rob?

As a Canadian you should shut your mouth concerning the US. Solve your own problems such as dealing with the sophomoric PM you have

Tsk, tsk. And do you think your wonderful government (which has invited in so many rabid mozlums….including thousands of the *innocent gazans*) will ever decide that you don’t need knives, or base-ball bats, or even a can of bear spray?
I find jealousy in your comment.

That’s why thousands of your truckers were totally high and dry when your Facist regime debanked everyone of those who refused to take the Covid jabs. The reason things like the Second Amendment are needed is so that when rogue elements take over a government, a citizen militia can take them down. Thankfully, it didn’t get to that under the last administration
The only failed state I see is yours – where your former pathetic prime minister told our president that if we imposed tariffs, your economy would collapse. It’s what happens to a country where the government tries to tell foreign companies in which states they can set up their offices

Since, James, we’re dealing with Canada on this thread due to one Stephen Henderson, I would make two comments related to Canada, one a stark reality and the other a joke.
First the grim reality, when the world gets in trouble, it doesn’t call on Canada but America.
Second, there’s that old line, to wit, Canadians are obsessed with not being obsessed about America.
somehistory says
Wellington, didn’t a pol in Canada say she would call on the U.K and France to nuke the U.S.?
Wellington says
Well, I missed that one, somehistory, but I am not surprised should this be true because long ago I concluded there are liberals, there are ultra-liberals and then there is the worst of the bunch, i.e., Canadian liberals.
Canadian liberals are so screwy (and I taught several of them) that they can make people like Bernie Sanders and AOC look like nothing more than your standard liberal. Yes, this awful—and this risible—and this disturbing. I would add here this is why I feel extra bad for Canadian conservatives, respecting whom many still exist. Think what they have to put up with.. As tough as it is at times to be an American conservative here in America, being a Canadian conservative in Canada is deuce difficult by comparison and they have my sympathy.

From the Telegraph (one of many sources), Wellington,
“British nuclear weapons can protect Canada against Trump, says Trudeau party candidate
Chrystia Freeland says Canada should build closer security partnerships with Nato allies as US president is ‘threatening sovereignty’”
I, too, have sympathy for those people living in, a most beautiful country, under the nonsense of its silly politicians…and worse, evil politicians.
E,T. is one. enduring under the present foolish government.
Wellington says
Thanks for that “update,” somehistory. What most disturbs in me in all this is how so many here in America, in Canada and in Western Europe don’t realize that President Trump is defending the West at its best, which is to say freedom all around, politically, economically, socially et al. while at the same time tempered by common sense and a proper moral directive. So many miss this, especially those who remain in hate mode of Trump.
somehistory says
You are welcome, Wellington. and, I do not understand their vile hatred. they are definitely “putting darkness for light.”

somehistory,
A few months ago, a longtime friend since grade school stated that he hated Donald J Trump.
I simply asked him: why?
He, surprisingly, went into complete Trump derangement syndrome. Treading oh so carefully, I could not even start to reason with him.
I thought that he was a classic JFK type liberal, but I guess that I was wrong.
He’s actually a very kind and “nice” guy who had a very troubled childhood. I still see him on occasion, but we – now – never talk politics.
Continuing our friendship was actually a very difficult decision for me to make…

James, I’m sorry you have lost your long-time friend. I know kinda’ how that feels.

What could have been the different result in Boulder a few years ago if someone in that King Soopers store had been allowed to open carry? Perhaps instead of a trial for a mozlum pretending to be insane, there had been only one funeral.
Taffy says
I am not a fan of open carry (although I acknowledge the Constitutional right to do so). Concealed carry is the way to go. When a robber threatens a store clerk, the concealed carry holder will always get the drop. An open carry person is exposing himself to danger.
somehistory says
It should be up to the gun holder. Laws are made by people, and the people who make the laws, generally have themselves in mind to benefit from the laws they write and enforce.
Had a law-abiding person been in possession at the store at that critical time, he might have prevented the murders, whether or not the mozlum ghoul had actually seen his gun.

The Dems have actually stated they hate the Constitution. They are in the process of splitting into 2 groups:
1. A radical left more powerful group, eg AOC.
2. A less powerful more moderate group.
