The hideous observance of Al-Quds Day, when mobs of antisemites and anti-Israel activists come out in force, to scream their hatred of the Jewish state and their deep desire for its disappearance, took place this year on March 23. In Toronto, the police worked hard to get ready for this annual display of homicidal hatred. Al-Quds (“The Holy”) is how Muslims refer to Jerusalem. Cities in Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States are bracing for Friday’s al-Quds Day, an event that marks intense and often violent anti-Israel protests and rhetoric, with Toronto authorities warning participants against waving terrorist flags and committing hate crimes.
The current Iranian-backed protest day against Israeli sovereignty in Jerusalem falls on the last Friday of Ramadan. Still, activists have planned events throughout the week, including Sunday marches in Toronto and London.
“Palestine resists – Zionism ceases to exist,” read a March 6 advertisement for a Toronto march organized by the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM) and the Al-Quds Day Toronto group.
In a Friday press briefing, Superintendent Katherine Stephenson of the Toronto police acknowledged the increased tensions due to the war in the Levant and the concerns expressed by some about potential hate speech and clashes between participants and counter-protesters.
Stephenson warned that the force would be “highly visible” to identify any criminality.
“I want to remind everyone that every reported instance of hate, including at demonstrations, is investigated,” said Stephenson. “This includes hate crimes, hate speech, hate signage, and flags designated by Public Safety Canada [as pertaining to] terrorist organizations.”
“Let me be very clear: Charges can be laid at any time – hours, days, or even weeks after an incident,” Stephenson added.
Acting Superintendent Craig Young of the Toronto Police Service’s (TPS) Emergency Management and Public Order unit said that the force wished to facilitate safe and lawful peaceful assembly and expression, but the law would be enforced.
“Engaging in confrontations with law enforcement, obstructing police, or resorting to violence is not acceptable, and we will not hesitate to enforce the law,” said Young.
Ontario Solicitor General Michael Kerzner issued similar warnings in a Friday statement explaining that al-Quds Day events in Toronto had been used to “glorify terrorism, advocate for the destruction of the sovereign democratic state of Israel, promote antisemitic ideology, and intimidate the Jewish community.”
This Al-Quds Day was exactly the same as in the past: it glorified the terrorism of Hamas, hailing its “resistance” on October 7, 2023, when 6,000 Hamas operatives smashed into Israel, and proceeded to rape, torture, mutilate, and murder 1,200 Israeli men, women, and children. The mobs chanted “From the river to the sea/Palestine will. be free,” which, rightly understood, is a call for the destruction of Israel and its replacement by a 23rd Arab state. They also called for violence against Jews everywhere — “Intifada Now.” Why should these mobs change their viperous chants or their threats against pro-Israeli counter-protestors? The Toronto police don’t faze them; they were likely prepared to attack the police, and to be arrested and even sentenced to jail; they were certain their cause was just; they would gladly sacrifice for “the Cause of Palestine.”
The antisemitic horror continues with these Al-Quds Day events. And the organizers, in dozens of cities, will carry on unchanged, until the police in the affected cities impose time, place, and manner restrictions on these pro-Hamas groups stomping on, or setting fire to, flags. No shutting down of major thoroughfares, which discomfits a wide public. The police will set out the routes for these marches, and anyone deviating from them will be subject to arrest. No chants will be allowed that call for the destruction of a people or a state. The police can get creative, and impose still other restrictions, as circumstances may vary, depending on the city. And the police in Toronto, Montreal, New York, Dallas, London, and other affected cities, should be prepared to arrest thousands of demonstrators if they violate those “time, place, and manner” restrictions. The time for tolerance is over. Make it difficult, though not impossible, for the haters of Israel and supporters of terrorism to get their squalid message out.

In Britain, as a child growing up, I cannot recall we had a specific day of hatred, violence or intolerance.
I suppose we are just too civilised and nice.
We had things like ” May Day ” when we celebrated the beauty of the coming of Summer.
Or “Oak Apple Day ” commemorating King Charles III hiding from the round heads in an Oak Tree.
I suppose we did have Guy Fawkes night when we burnt an effigy of a man who tried to blow up Parliament.

Throughout history, Islam has used the left to spread their “religion.” It’s never worked well for the societies that crumbled OR the leftists that enabled them.
