One month ago, European Commissioner Hadja Lahbib (who is a ‘Belgian’ DEI-hire chosen because she is a non-white woman, born to muslim Algerian parents) gave €235 million of European taxpayer’s money in “aid” to ‘former’ ISIS-leader Jolani’s regime.

Dumb as a door. Again, no accountability or mandate for contributing taxpayer’s money to the Islamist cause and bloodshed.

I wish the Western “leaders” would wake up and realise that an Islamist toting an AK 47 one day is not likely to be the sort of person who tomorrow returns borrowed Library books on time.
And Western democracies seem to think that Islam is just a religious belief just like Buddhists or Methodists or the happy clappy Church down the road.
And the stupid infidel never seems to wake up to the fact that yesterday’s oppressed are tomorrows oppressors, and then some..

More reason the US needs to get out of NATO and close down the military bases in Europe. Let Europe pay for its own military and these type of terror supporting programs without the US propping them up.
Wellington says
Western Europe has become pathetic, no doubt about that. While I still think it possible to argue that America should remain in NATO, this should be done only if Western Europe wises up, which, frankly, I don’t think it will (and, yes, Turkey under Erdogan remaining in NATO only adds “salt to the wounds” here).
So, what should be done where the more stalwart Eastern Europe is concerned, nations like Poland, the three Baltic states, the Czech Republic and so on? Well, perhaps a kind of “eastern NATO” could be created, by whatever name, because if America withdraws from NATO entirely, this in and of itself would send a signal to the malevolent and incompetent man (yes, he is both) in the Kremlin that he could try to make all of Eastern Europe into what Belarus is, i.e., an obedient vassal. And I am certain that nations like Poland, Lithuania and Estonia never want to become vassals again of the Russian state. Moreover, even after Putin, my prediction is that Russia will never learn and still look upon its neighbors, a la George Kennan, as vassals or enemies. After all, Russia is really not part of the West, only semi-so at best.
Sometimes, many times actually, life leaves one with only lousy options and one has to choose the least bad option. So, what should America do here, what should America choose here? I welcome opinions about this “matter,” especially from people like James Lincoln, Infidel, somehistory, Westman, tgusa, Keys, Eddie, John Smith and gravenimage.
somehistory says
Wellington, I consider it an honor that among others, you mentioned me and welcome my opinion.
I do not feel qualified to say what America should do. Were I to be president, I would feel overwhelmed with the responsibility for the lives of so many people..
So my response will have to come by way of the Bible and what the Apostle Paul wrote to the Romans and to his friend, the young minister, Timothy.
He told Timothy to pray for those in government power. He said the same to the Romans.
Therefore, I would encourage those who pray, to do as Paul wrote and ask God to give those in power, direction as to what to do in these dark and evil times.
Your comment about those in Eastern Europe, Poland, Estonia, etc. makes much sense if one is to try to help and also rely, on the goodness of others. Those who have not given in to the evils and demonic designs of the mozlums, may welcome such friendship from the U.S.
Wellington says
Thanks for your reply, somehistory. Yes, Eastern European nations are a “particular” problem and I am of the absolute conviction that America can never abandon them as long as they don’t want to be vassals of a Russian state that never learns and is regularly stupid and brutal.

Thank you, Wellington. Guess we will all have to wait and see what happens next.
On another thread, the announcement of a rabid mozlum chosen by Trump to be America’s amb to Kuwait. Arrgh. Stupidity is dangerous.
James Lincoln says
Wellington,
Again, honored that you would want my opinion where you are not only an attorney, but an American and World History scholar that I hold in the highest regard. And you also have an incredible ability to relate history to current events.
In my humble opinion:
At least for the time being, the United States should remain in NATO. That being said:
The NATO “bylaws” need to be revised so that there is a formal mechanism to expel members who no longer hold Western values, e.g. Turkey.
Protection of NATO members by the United States should be contingent upon members paying their full membership “dues”.
All NATO members should submit annual reports outlining and documenting their commitment to the Western values of freedom and the rule of law. When members start drifting away from Western values, e.g. U.K., those members should be held accountable to reverse the trend. If they do not, they may face expulsion from NATO. That is a threat that has not, unfortunately, been used which may have prevented things like mass muslim migration, restrictions on screech, etc. And NATO was not designed to address these self-imposed internal threats
Today, the United States has more in common with parts of Central/Eastern Europe (e.g., the Visegrad Group), then it does with many of the Leftist countries of Western Europe like France, Germany, the UK, Sweden, etc. Interestingly, the former East Germany would have been better off if they had joined with the Visegrad Group of Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia then reuniting with West Germany. The way that Germany is going today, the former East Germany would still be better off breaking away from Germany and joining Visegrad.
As you well know, NATO was formed in 1949 with the aim, first and foremost, of acting as a deterrent to the threat of Soviet expansion in Europe after WWII. Russia is still a threat, however, the biggest threat now is from communist China.
Wellington says
I agree with all you stated, James, with one reservation. Here it is. The mendacity “element.”
As an example, Keir Starmer, recently in the US, gave an interview while here stating that the UK is absolutely committed to freedom of speech. But Steve Hilton, former adviser to Prime Minister David Cameron (2010-2016) and now an American citizen and considering a run for Governor of California, called Starmer out on this and said, quite plainly, that he was lying.
So, what is to be done if people like Starmer simply lie, replete with producing reports and many statements to sustain their mendacity? Who in NATO will be able to call them out on their deceptions to the extent of, as an example, kicking the UK out our NATO? A major weak link here I fear.
And thanks again for your reply. Much appreciated.
James Lincoln says
Wellington,
Thank you for your reply.
And you are correct about the “mendacity” element – something would have to be figured out in order to control for that…
࿗Infidel࿘ says
Fully agree w/ you, JPT! Just the Americans would keep our money busy, and the Indo-Pacific is where we need to focus our energy. Anybody w/ half a brain knows that China is our #1 enemy, not Russia, and anyone w/ a modicum of knowledge of history knows that there wasn’t a significan’t period of time when we were confronted by both the Soviets and the Chicoms. Once President Nixon pried them apart, we confronted the likes of Brezhnev to Gorbachev w/o them being backed by Beijing. That was no small reason that we prevailed
If Russia wanted to take on us, it would be easier – and safer from Moscow’s POV – to pack their missiles in their far eastern provinces of Chukotka and Kamchatka, so that they could have Alaska to California to Hawaii in their ranges, and maybe much of America. Similarly, even if they wanted to target DC, it would be trans-Arctic – firing missiles across the North Pole and hitting major centers like NYC, DC, Chicago, et al. Hence the importance of Greenland, and even Canada’s Nunavat
Russian troops or missiles west of Moscow may threaten Europe, but doesn’t do squat against America. If Russian missiles come at us, they’re not gonna come across the Atlantic. That”s why Europe is of no use to us. Let them figure out whether an islamic Europe is identical to a post-Christian Europe. But it shouldn’t be incumbent on us to preserve that
Wellington says
“That’s why Europe is of no use to us.”
Sorry, Infidel, but I have to disagree with you on this one. Europe still remains relevant for many reasons, among them are the UK’s economy, one of the largest in the world, as is Germany’s. Moreover, there is still that “nagging” matter of Eastern European nations like Poland and the Czech Republic, both of which, like many other Eastern European nations, are still “better” about Islam than are the western nations of that once great continent—and they don’t want to be dominated by Russia.
Really, I must reject your contention that Europe is of no use to us. It is in sundry ways I would argue, the nuclear “element” notwithstanding.
࿗Infidel࿘ says
Wellington
It is my contention that neither Britain’s nor Germany’s’ economies will remain the largest in the world, once the mohammedans there take over. Neither country is like Qatar, low in population but high in petroleum or LNG reserves: quite the opposite. Once their economies become like Turkey’s, their value to US will collapse as well
For them to remain the world’s largest economies, free enterprise will have to remain, but at the same time, they have to continue attracting the same sort of people that countries like the Emirates have managed to attract. But the type of muslims they have in their country are not the rich oil sheikhs from Dubai or Bahrein or Dhahran: they are losers & grifters from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Somalia, “Palestine”, Albania and other countries that have nothing to write home about. These people can’t make Britain what the Emirates, or even Qatar is today
I’m no fan of the UAE, but their leaders are right when they claim that there are more jihadists in UK while there are none in the Emirates. They’ve done a good job creating a virtual apartheid state, where muslims cannot interfere w/ non-muslim activities. I have recently argued that Apartheid is the best peaceful system any country w/ both muslim & non-muslim populations can have, w/o going to war w/ each other
As for Eastern European countries like Poland, Hungary or Slovakia, I don’t want them to fall under Moscow again. But let’s do a quick thought experiment on whether Moscow or Brussels will do more damage to these countries individually. Brussels has been at loggerheads w/ Warsaw, Budapest over their refusal to allow in muslim refugees, and relations b/w those countries and the EU have been tenuous at best. By contrast, even the Soviets, in their heyday, never forced their stooges like Poland or Bulgaria to take in people even from other communist countries like Vietnam or Ethiopia or South Yemen. I don’t see even Putin trying to impose that on a Poland, although Belarus did try it several months ago but failed. Russia itself doesn’t take in muslims from other countries except from their “near abroad” (Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan….) as well as some groups like the Alawites
Like Steve Bannon recently noted, we are not an empire. Even though our dear president loves William McKinley, who via the Spanish-American war got us Cuba, Puerto Rico, Philippines and Guam. Ultimately, it’s Europe that has to decide for itself what sort of people they want to have – and thereby be! We won’t be allies w/ them regardless of their decisions
Wellington says
Infidel: Thank you for your reply and I will be brief.
Moscow could do infinitely more damage to eastern European nations like Poland and Estonia than Brussels ever could. Here’s why: The EU, decrepit and stupid as it is, will not invade Poland and Estonia militarily. Yes, it can do some damage economically but compared to what Putin has done to Ukraine and millions of Ukrainians it is as nothing. Actually, I am surprised you would even argue what you did. And I would bet the people in Warsaw or Talinn would agree with me here and not with you had they to choose between the harm Brussels could do to them versus Moscow.
As for the economies of countries like the UK and Germany, they are still massive. No way any Arab state will come close to replacing them even allowing for continued extra stupidity by the UK and Germany where Muzzies in their respective nations exist.
