  8. Thank you for this interesting discussion. One point I would question is that the four sources of antisemitism you cite hated Jews because they wouldn’t assimilate. While this was (and is) certainly true of the other three, I think the Nazis were different. They pursued even secular Jews and converts to Christianity. Indeed, anyone with Jewish blood going back several generations.

    There is something truly demonic about antisemitism in the way it manifests in so many guises; can never be eradicated no matter appalling its consequences are seen to be, but always returns with anything and everything used as a justification.

    I believe, in fact, that it is best understood in theological terms as part of the Devil’s plan for Mankind. If the moderator will allow me to link my own work explaining this:
