Schisms among jihad groups are a plus for Western interests. The Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISIS-K), which is the group’s Central Asian arm, supports the creation and expansion of a global caliphate, as ISIS does everywhere. This caliphate would, of course, be governed by Salafi rules. The group engages in global jihad against the enemies of “pure Islam,” including other Muslim countries and jihadi groups. For instance, Pakistan has been supporting the Taliban in its fight against ISIS-K. Four years ago, ISIS-K stated: “Our first target is to destroy Pakistan…We want to implement Shariah Law.’”
And how does China fit in? China is also targeted by ISIS-K, along with Arabs, as reflected in ISIS-K’s plans here to target Chinese and Arab nationals for kidnapping. The East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) is the terror group that China fears the most, and thus China oppresses the Uighurs. Members of the ETIM, Uighur separatists, are seeking an independent Islamic state. Many have joined ISIS-K, and the proliferation of this group spells trouble for China.
Here we see again that jihad has no limits; civilians are routinely targeted anywhere, and in any possible environment.
Also, a side note: the worst elements of the jihad will never surrender to communism, and vice versa.

Pakistan’s Intelligence Bureau has issued a warning about a potential threat from the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP), which is reportedly planning to kidnap foreigners attending the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 for ransom. The terror outfit is said to be specifically targeting Chinese and Arab nationals, conducting surveillance at ports, airports, offices, and residential areas frequently used by visitors from these countries.
According to intelligence reports, ISKP operatives plan to rent properties on the outskirts of cities as safe houses, deliberately choosing locations without camera surveillance and accessible only by rickshaw or motorcycle. The group intends to move kidnapped individuals between safe houses under the cover of night to evade security forces.
The warning comes as Pakistan faces growing concerns about its ability to secure major international events. In the past, the country has been accused of downplaying attacks on foreign nationals….

Why would Arab or Chinese nationals be interested in going to Pakistan to view cricket? Why Chinese at all, and why Arabs, in Dubai itself, they can see all of India’s matches w/o having to travel to Pakistan?

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. In Asia interest in cricket is confined to South Asia (India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh), as far as I know.

There is a bit of interest in some of the Gulf countries, like Emirates. Previously, it used to just be expats from the subcontinent, but now, it’s caught on w/ Arabs as well. But point remains: they have the best stadiums, and there is a lot of cricket played there. In fact, the ICC moved its headquarters from Lords to Dubai 2 decades ago
Also, it’s caught on in Afghanistan, which is also playing in this tournament. In fact, unfortunately, they just eliminated England from the competition
However, even if we grant that Arabs are interested enough to travel to Pakistan to watch cricket, the idea that there is any interest by the Chinese is just laughable
