Even after Trudeau went to Mar-a-Lago to meet with Trump, he tried to keep up appearances, with an uncharacteristically “meek and mild” demeanor, calling his conversation with Trump “excellent.” Never mind the fact that Trump humorously said: “So your country can’t survive unless it’s ripping off the U.S. to the tune of $100 billion…maybe it should become the 51st state.” Ignoring the humiliation to Trudeau, Canadian leaders generally took the comment as a joke, and Trudeau appeared to be in control.
Given Trudeau’s deceptive character and past acrimony toward Trump, it didn’t take a genius to realize that Trudeau’s outward calm was only a facade.
Recall how Trump had described Trudeau in 2018 as “two-faced” and “very dishonest and weak”:

US banks can do business in Canada and many do BUT under Canadian laws, not American laws.
Canada imports more US farm produce than the US does Canada farm product.
Alberta can’t and won’t go it alone. Canadian provinces are not like US states.
The US is welcome to protect its borders. Canada isn’t stopping them and will certainly help where possible. The gun trafficking from the US into Canada is the responsibility of Canada to stop but if the US is willing to help so much the better.
Remember that the incoming traffic is checked by the receiving country and not the country of origin. The US doesn’t search traffic leaving the US.
The truckers’ issue has nothing to do with the US any more than the Jan 6th on the US Capitol is Canada’s business.
