Al-Mujahedeen simply means “The Jihadis,” not “Lords of the Wilderness.” In any case, it’s just the same drink in different bottles. Ynet says here: “The organization follows a radical Salafi ideology, which seeks to return to what it considers the fundamental roots of Islam, advocating extreme measures to achieve its goals.” Actually, no one in any Islamic sect disputes what the “fundamental roots of Islam” are, except in some relatively minor details. It isn’t as if the Turks or Emiratis or someone have some other idea of what the “fundamental roots of Islam” are, and are consequently not as strict and bloodthirsty as Al-Mujahedeen. The real situation is that some are intent on living in accord with those “fundamental roots of Islam,” and some are not.

As I’m sure you well know, Islamists only respect force. I am so fed up with what they have done to Israelis etc that I feel they deserve a taste of their own abuse. Even if I don’t like it.
But, what’s interesting, is that in the 1980’s Saudi Arabia did exactly this. There was a group of liberal students that got rounded up and dumped over the desert.
Additionally, one of the Prince’s daughters got caught fornicating. She was gorgeous. She and her lover were beheaded in public. Do you remember? Our news orgs got serious criticism from KSA and Reagan wanted to simply avoid it.
