The Israelis have until now focused almost all of their attention away from Egypt. The IDF has had quite enough to occupy itself with in recent years: Hamas terrorists in Gaza, Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon, the Houthi terrorists in Yemen — all three launching missiles and rockets at Israel. Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists in Judea and Samaria have also been killing Israelis; more than 1,100 were murdered during the Second Intifada alone. And then there is Iran, the greatest threat of all to Israel’s existence. The Islamic Republic has launched two missile attacks at Israel in the last year that caused little damage — two Israelis and one Palestinian were killed — but Iran continues to promise a terrible revenge against Israel for its attack on Iran on October 26, 2024, in which destroyed most of Iran’s anti-missile defense systems were destroyed, and so was the plant that manufactured fuel for Iran’s ballistic missiles. But in the minds of Israeli military planners, looming over all other threats has been Iran’s race to manufacture nuclear weapons. It is in this environment that Israel has overlooked Egypt’s remilitarization of the Sinai. But it cannot continue to ignore that buildup an, those bases, much longer, according to Lt. Col. (ret’d) Eli Dekel, who has been studying Egypt’s military for the past sixty years. More on Egypt’s military buildup, and those bases it has built in the Sinai that violate the terms of the Camp David Accords, can be found here: “Violation of peace deal? Israel’s US envoy warns Egypt is ‘reinforcing Sinai bases,'” Jerusalem Post, February
He added that the issue has been pushed aside for a long time: “We will put this issue on the table very soon, and in a decisive manner.”
This comes after satellite images indicating changes in the deployment of the Egyptian military in the Sinai Peninsula reportedly concerned security coordinators in Israeli border communities….
Why would the Egyptian military want to know about “security coordinators in Israeli border communities,” if not to discover their vulnerabilities for a possible future attack? The Egyptian military has been violating its solemn obligation under the peace treaty not to enter the buffer zone of 15-25 kilometers along Sinai’s border with Israel. Yet until now, Jerusalem has not called Egypt to account.
During the current war between Israel and Hamas, Egypt has tried to prevent the IDF from using its full force against Hamas, urging it not to enter certain cities, and has denounced the Jewish state for supposedly withholding humanitarian aid to the Gazans and for “indiscriminately” killing civilians, which amounts, the Egyptian media claim, to “ethnic cleansing,” or even to “genocide.” Israel’s tremendous effort to warn civilians away from sites about to be targeted receives no mention on Egypt’s airwaves or in its press. Instead, the Egyptian media is filled with tear-jerking stories about Gazans and denunciations of the IDF’s actions.
A few days ago, the military academy was inaugurated, attended by President Sisi. The trainees learned what the weak points of the Merkava tank were. Two days before that, the Egyptian army spokesman released an entire propaganda film, in which he said: ‘We are preparing our army in case Israel does not listen to our wise advice not to occupy Philadelphi.'”
What should Israel think, when Egyptian army trainees are being taught the “weak points” in Israel’s Merkava tanks? And what should Israel make of a clearly articulated threat of war from Egypt — “we are preparing our army” — if Israel holds onto the Philadelphi Corridor on Gaza’s border with Egypt?
Dekel also argued that Egypt’s role in the October 7 attacks should be examined.
Could it be that some Egyptians were aware of Hamas’ plan to attack the kibbutzim and the music festival? Or might it even be that some Egyptian military men could have helped Hamas in that planning? Lt. Col.(ret’d) Eli Dekel thinks Egypt’s possible role in the October 7 attack ought to be examined.
Israeli complaints so far about Egypt’s military moves in the Sinai — its violations of the peace treaty with Israel — have not made much of an impression on Cairo. But Egypt would care very much if President Trump were to tell General El-Sisi that he, Donald J. Trump, wanted Egypt “to stop violating the peace treaty with Israel which the American government brokered,” and that, furthermore, “I am going to call a halt to all the generous aid we have been giving to Egypt, both military and economic, unless and until the Egyptian army pulls back from northern Sinai and, just as important, turns the military bases it has built in the Sinai in violation of the peace treaty with Israel, to civilian uses. When those two things happen, we will reconsider a resumption of that aid.”
There. That should get the Egyptians’ attention. And their compliance.

Egypt, Turkey, and the 50+ Islamic Countries are Terrorist States against Israel, America, and ALL Non-Muslims as taught in Islam’s Quran.
Islam and its Muslims fund, promote, and practice ideological subversion, propaganda, bigotry, discrimination, deceit, supremacy, segregation, hatred, violence, and terrorism as taught in Islamic Law and in Islam’s Quran, and Muslim actions should be legally challenged with a multi-faceted force of Western Laws like Muslims wield against Americans and Westerners. Like a Foreign Terrorist Organization(FTO) designated by the USA Secretary of State, Islam is a MUSLIM TERRORIST ORGANIZATION(MTO) fighting against Non-Muslims and NOT A PEACEFUL religion under Western Law because Islam funds, teaches, and promotes a Terrorist, Criminal Organization with Muslims as Terrorists for Allah. Under Islamic Law, it is a Crime against Allah for Muslims to neglect performing Terrorism against Non-Muslims; Jihad means warfare against Non-Muslims to ESTABLISH THE RELIGION, ISLAM(Quran 9:29; Muslim Law Manual – “Reliance of the Traveller”, o9.0 and more). More specifically, Islam is a Muslim Terrorist Ideology and Murderous, Criminal Enterprise of intolerance, continuous war, discrimination, segregation, supremacy, genocide, polygamy, propaganda, deceit, hatred, incitement, sedition, rape, terrorism, and violence against all Non-Muslims as taught in the Quran(Quran 2:216; 4:65,89,95; 5:14; 8:12,39,74; 9:5,21,29,36, 41,49,88,111,123; 21:92; 49:15 and more).

NO MONEY or AID should be given to Muslim Countries or ORGANIZATIONS.
Rob Porter says
Fully agree, Tony, it’s total rubbish and if Egypt can afford such a big and modern army why is the U.S. giving it any aid? Just more stupid U.S. waste of money!
Very good suggestions by Hugh Fitzgerald. Israel must wake up to this threat from Egypt and Donald Trump must tell el-Sisi to “stop violating the peace treaty with Israel which the American government brokered,” and that, he’s going to call a halt to all the generous U.S. aid. However, he should also warn Egypt that if it attacks Israel the U.S. will smash Egypt. That should be a good incentive for Egypt to behave itself.
Till now I thought that el-Sisi had a rare amount of intelligence for a Muslim, but it’s the same old story. Islam destroys rationality and where it comes to Jews and other ‘infidels’ they are just stupid.

Israel must now tell Egypt to get its clearing up machines out of Gaza or they will be destroyed.

The problem is also geopolitical. If the US stops funding Egypt, Russia and China fill the void. It’s a constant balancing act with jihadists both Sunni and Shiite in the mix.
It’ more than miraculous that Israel has survived in this neighborhood.

Look, what can we do? Do we clone Shah and Soraya or do we clone Bassel Assad? Everything turned to shit as soon as Bassel Assad died. It might work if we could clone Shah and Soraya. Bashar Assad is probably locked up in a Russian insane asylum, which is why Trump can’t fix Syria, into which he could dump Palestinians and a bunch of Guantanamo prisoners.

Why should Egypt be destroyed if the Israelis have enough equipment to break into the Hague prison and steal Radovan Karađić out? Then they fire their incompetent generals and beautifully fence off Gaza with wire.Or do they replace their stupid generals with Lebanon’s capable generals?

Wasn’t it big enough shit in Syria when Bashar Assad was so crazy as to support the Palestinian cause? Leave poor tourist countries like Egypt alone, because if there is terrorism there, then there is no more tourism.Together with the Israelis, discuss what you will do, because you have many good people (still alive) from Lebanon and Serbia. But this is not the task of either Europe or Egypt and Jordan.

I think Trump first needs to recognize Turkey as our #1 major geopolitical adversary in the region, instead of Russia. (It’s good that he’s talking about mending relations w/ Russia). Then he needs to look at the Arab countries that have been playing footsie w/ Ankara. Syria is already there, courtesy HTS, but so is Egypt: Gen Sisi recently visited Ankara when US showed no signs of doing anything about them
Unfortunately, he only sees these regimes as customers, and is happy to sell them anything, w/o factoring in which of our allies it damages. I do hope that Marco Rubio reviews some of our relationships w/ these countries, and near the top would be Turkey, Qatar, Egypt and Kuwait. Our relations w/ them are nowhere near what they were in the 80s or 90s or even the 00s

Why does Egypt deserve to be destroyed? Bashar Assad and his father were taking Palestinians into their country. Now this is a typical terrorist gang country. Palmyra is destroyed and tourism is gone. Why should the pyramids also will be destroyed if it is not necessary? If Mr. Bassel Assad had not died, Syria would never have been destroyed. Do you think the Egyptians want Hamas in their midst? That’s how it was and that’s how it will be.

Look, nobody wants Palestinians. Of course, Trump can catch them and take them to Florida, or he can throw them into the ocean ( like Augusto José Ramón Pinochet Ugarte) along the way.Because we have all seen how much Syria has fallen without Bassel Assad (brother Bashar Assad).
