The Health Ministry in the Gaza Strip has documented 4,500 cases of amputations, involving both upper and lower limbs, since the outset of the Israeli genocidal war on the besieged Palestinian enclave, Anadolu Agency reported, citing a senior health official in Gaza.
“We have recorded 4,500 amputation cases by the end of 2024, as a result of the continuous Israeli airstrikes and ground attacks on Gaza,” Zaher al-Wahidi, the head of the Health Information Unit at the ministry, confirmed in a statement on Friday.
Al-Wahidi highlighted that approximately 800 of the amputees were children, representing 18% of the cases, while 540 were women, accounting for 12%.
According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics citing the health ministry, some 64% of those killed in Gaza are women and children.
How is it possible that 64% of those killed in Gaza are women and children, but 70% of the amputees are adult males? Those losing limbs would certainly be a representative sample of those who lost their lives and have similar demographics – bombs cannot be calibrated to kill mostly women and children but to maim mostly adult men, which is what the health ministry is claiming.
In Gaza, the percentages of those who are killed ought to be the same as the percentages of those who required amputations. What explains, then, the figure given out that 70% of the amputees in Gaza were adult males (18% were children, 12% were women) but only 36% of those killed in Gaza were adult males?
I take the figures on amputees in Gaza to be accurate. When those figures were released, Hamas did not realize it was undercutting its previous claim that “70% of those killed in Gaza have been women and children.” It has subsequently reduced that claim — it now says that 64% of those killed were women and children. There is no reason to think that the percentages of children, women, and men undergoing amputation would be different from the percentages of children, women, and men who were killed. So we have supplied to us by the Hamas-run health ministry itself in Gaza figures that clearly reinforce what the IDF has insisted all along — that the Hamas claim that 70% of those killed in Gaza have been women and children is wrong, and that, instead, 70% of those killed have been adult males. This release of data on amputees by Hamas gives new meaning to the phrase “hoist by their own petard.”

Didn’t you know that the Israelis used bombs that automatically cause amputations among males but kill outright all women and children. This is common knowledge among Palestinians. But Israeli agents who have somehow been put in charge of the Hamas Gaza Ministry of Health have covered it up. Never blame a Palestinian for anything. Everything evil is done by Jews. Ah, so. the mozlum males in Gaza are thieves….having had their limbs amputated. We are all aware by now that hamas is responsible for the death and destruction in Gaza. hamas caught some mozlums trying to take some of the aid Israel sent in so they could feed their little children.

These definitions will change with whatever figure is required. What figure do you have in mind? OK then we have to adjust our definitions.
