    • I think that Merz, more than Trump, will be instrumental in seeing to the end of NATO – something that was decades overdue!

      They have no energy policy that makes sense. If Merz wants to be independent of the US, it means that he can’t buy energy from US. Nor can he buy it from Russia, since the Nordstream capacity is already reduced, and Russia would have little incentive to keep supplying the country that’s out to sabotage their peace talks w/ the US. AfD at least was gonna resurrect nuclear, something that the CDU won’t even consider

      I think that AfD should start a secession campaign for East Germany – since that’s the part of the country where they won overwhelmingly. As I discussed in a previous thread, German reunification 36 years ago was a mistake: all it did long term was drag East Germany down. Whereas Poland and Hungary have sensible non-Left non-globalist regimes, East Germans are kept in an open-borders arrangement due to them being outnumbered by West Germans, who are as woke as the rest of Western Europe. This time, AfD can let West Germany have all of Berlin, rather than split the city, but rebuild the Berlin wall to keep muslims from leaving Berlin for East Germany

      The Europeans and Brits have never gotten past the notion of an insulated central authority in charge except for the rise of the US and the French Revolution. The rise of Hitler shouldn’t be a great surprise during an age when people looked for someone, unaccountable, to be in charge.

      The Elite of Germany still carry that false sense of God’s chosen to lead the little people. Of course they must use law and force like any Royal King to maintain their insulation and absurd arrogance. Now people can be arrested and jailed for simply voicing truths the elite don’t want to hear. How is this different than 1939?

      • Not to dismiss the elites, because they are culpable, but the truth is 80% of Germans voted not to save their culture and country to the dismay of everyone with an IQ over 80.

    • Actually, the smartest thing that both US & Russia could do is ally w/ each other, and the US abandoning NATO altogether. Let Europe figure out how it wants to live. US could just require Russia to not be anti-Israel, as well as break its alliance w/ Beijing. In return, Moscow can have a free hand in Europe, and in particular, try and destroy Turkey, which would give them a direct warm water access to the Mediterranean: they wouldn’t have to go through Syria
