Politicians and the media don’t oppose forcible resettlement. They just support terrorism.
President Trump’s proposal that the Arab Muslim colonist population occupying parts of Gaza be resettled touched off outrage, complaints about ‘ethnic cleansing’ and ‘genocide’.
Those same complaints were entirely absent when Gaza’s Jewish population was forcibly resettled not once but twice, first during the War of Independence when Egypt invaded and seized control of Gaza (setting the stage for contemporary events as the Egyptian government partnered with the Muslim Brotherhood, which later became Hamas, to stage attacks from Gaza into Israel) and then by the Israeli government during its withdrawal from Gaza which turned over the territory to the Arab Muslim population in the hopes of peace.
Instead, the Arab Muslims selected Hamas and spent the succeeding years waging an endless war.
Politicians and the media approved of the ethnic cleansing of Jewish communities from Gaza.
Here’s how the AP cheerfully covered a synagogue burning by Hamas supporters.
Fireworks lit up the sky, Palestinian gunmen fired in the air in celebration and crowds set fire to the synagogue in the abandoned Morag settlement, closest to Palestinian towns. In another synagogue, gunmen climbed on the roof and waved flags of militant groups, including Hamas, shouting “Allah is great.”
“It is only the first step to more liberation … tomorrow we liberate all of Palestine,” Gaza resident Mohammed Khamish Habboush shouted into a mosque loudspeaker.
Early Monday, Palestinians started carrying off what was left in the debris in the settlements, including chairs, tables and shopping carts. In the former settlement of Netzarim, women ululated in celebration. Young men tore down electricity poles, grabbing the wires, and several people carried off window frames.”
The London Times lyrically described the scene as “Thousands of Palestinians swarmed into the forsaken settlements and youths set fire to synagogues and other symbols of the hated occupation.”
The same media that thought the forcible ‘resettlement’ of Jews from Gaza was fine can shut up about proposals to resettle Arab Muslims. The media and politicians don’t oppose resettlement and ethnic cleansing. They proved that already. They simply oppose applying it to Hamas supporters occupying Gaza.

They engage in war for the sake of Allah, so they kill and are killed…”

Yeah, which is why nobody should have any issues w/ Gaza’s muslim population being resettled, preferably to a country that does not border Israel. In fact, looking at the Arab countries that are hostile even to the ones who’ve signed the Abraham Accords, they should be the first targets of such resettlements – Algeria, Kuwait, Qatar and Yemen. The US should put pressure on the Arab League to deprecate its resolution calling for Palestinians to not be awarded citizenship in Arab countries
Get them out of there, build a major beachfront coastline, sell it to private equity moguls in the neighborhood, and for a population, accept persecuted non-muslims from the region, namely Copts, Assyrians and Yazidis. Oh, and while at it, maybe even rename the place to make it more attractive

Of course, this is the right thing to do. However, this could have been more strategic.
We should have said this point on Israelis being uprooted. We should have said the larger amounts of Jews forced out of Arab countries in ‘48. Trump should have said temporarily relocated (even if the passage of time would not allow it).
He endangered the Saudi relationship and the hostage deal by being undiplomatic.
There is a craftier way to succeed.

I heard nothing last night about the Israelis still being held hostage by Hamas. Given the demolition zone that Gaza has become and the instability caused by Hamas tunnels, how long Israel should have to wait to recover the remaining hostages?

Three times! If you go to the ottoman census of 1902, Gaza area had 19,000 people. 10,000 Arab town dwellers and 9,000 Jewish farmers. The British kicked the Jewish farmers out after the 1917 conquest. Three times in recent history.

Stive – that’s interesting, re. events in 1917. (And people forget that there was a Jewish community in what is known as Gaza, centuries before Islam was even invented; and that there was a Jewish community hanging on in there, even during and after the horrors of Muslim invasion and occupation; that one of the great Jewish hymns was composed there, in the 16th century!).

Doesn’t surprise me at all, but I would like to know who recorded the event and where, so the information can be spread about.

And how many people know that the Islamophile ‘Glubb Pasha’, who led and trained Jordanian Arab Muslims, took part in and oversaw ethnic cleansing of Jews from the ancient – really ancient – Jewish quarter in Jerusalem, in 1948? (This is mentioned by John Roy Carlson in ‘Cairo to Damascus’). They were driven out of their own ancestral city with nothing but the clothes on their backs; the triumphant ululating mohammedans looted their property, and subsequently the ‘Jordanians’ while occupying historic – Jewish – Jerusalem (including the Temple Mount and other sites deeply significant to Jews) systematically destroyed many ancient synagogues… and vandalised the incredibly ancient Jewish cemetery, using the tombstones to build *latrines*. Countries such as the UK seemingly thought this was just fine and no problem at all…no protests…

Given that the entire point of the “Palestinian movement” is to move out of Gaza and into Israel – (or Europe – or America – or Australia – in fact any damn place that’s daft enough to accept them) – what difference does it make to Mr and Mrs Average Gazan which direction they go in?
Egypt, Jordan, and Syria will be just as hot and sunny as Israel – plus they can catch-up with their relatives.
