Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth fired off a new salvo in the culture war on Monday when he changed the name of Fort Liberty back to Fort Bragg. That’s all to the good, as the left has been doing its best to make Americans ashamed of their own history and heritage, so that they will value them less when they’re torn away altogether, and never dream of standing up to defend them. Hegseth has, however, not simply undone the June 2023 change of the military installation’s name from Fort Bragg to Fort Liberty. He has changed the identity of the Bragg who is being honored, a deft move that takes the wind out of the sails of the original case for changing the name to Fort Liberty.

What does Secretary Hegseth have against liberty? 😈
One thing that struck me – I looked up Army Private First Class Roland L Bragg, and he didn’t seem to have any connections to North Carolina: was entirely based in Maine. Was there nobody from the military w/ the last name “Bragg” from North Carolina itself?
All that said, I do like the move towards undoing the woke movement’s undoing of the name changes that happened in 2020. Although arguably, in this case, the original reason for naming forts in the South after Confederate heroes – to aid in the national reconciliation – remains undone

What an amazing coincidence!! The same last name as the Confederate General (Braxton Bragg) after whom the fort was originally named!! What are the odds? Can even pull out the old stationery.
Maybe change “New York” to “New Amsterdam” after Mike Amsterdam, a New York cop with a distinguished career.
At the same time change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America”. Oops. That’s already been tried.

No coincidence. He wanted the name of the fort to revert to Fort Bragg, but in order to avoid being accused of celebrating the Confederacy, he picked another soldier who served the military, instead of the original Braxton Bragg
The decisions made during the George Floyd riots of 2020 were bad decisions made only to pander to the mob. As always, it ends up making them hungry for more

Of course it was no coincidence. Searched for someone with the name Bragg” to use to pretend it wasn’t being named after a Confederate General but a Yankee Major. Fools nobody. Pretty childish.

Fort Bragg is named after a Confederate General and everybody knows it. Changing it back to Ft Bragg is a slap in the face to those who sought to change it in the first place. The name is a reminder of a darker time and the support that darker time still has today.
What possible harm would there be in leaving it as Ft Liberty?
