This statement should be (but won’t be) a wake-up call for many other countries, including Greece, unoccupied Cyprus, and Israel, that were once part of the Ottoman Empire.
If Turkey did reassert sovereignty over Gaza, it would use it as a jihad base against Israel, just as the Gazans themselves have done since the Israelis withdrew from the territory in 2005.
“Former prime minister of Turkey says Gaza is still part of the Ottoman Empire and Gazans are legally Turkish citizens,” Elder of Ziyon, February 19, 2025:
Ahmet Davutoğlu is a former prime miniister [sic] and foreign minister of Turkey. Now is is the chairman of Turkey’s opposition Future Party.
Last week, he responded to Donald Trump’s plan for the US to take over Gaza by suggesting that …Turkey should take over Gaza.
Speaking to a group of aligned politicians, Davutoğlu stated, “Now, as a Turk, as a Turk who is a subject of the Ottoman Empire, I am saying to Trump; the last legitimate state of the people of Gaza was the Ottoman Empire. After that, the British mandate was established, it did not grant citizenship. Israel is already illegitimate and has never granted citizenship. As the Republic of Turkey, which is the legitimate continuity of the Ottoman Empire, the people of Gaza should hold a referendum as our natural compatriots and citizens. And they should be connected to the Republic of Turkey as an autonomous region until the State of Palestine is established.”…

Fine, if Gazans are Turkish citizens, Ankara can take them “back”! Doesn’t mean that Israel has to hand over Gaza to Erdogan

Agreed. Turkey should take them all and keep them far from Israel.
If they are citizens of turkey, turkey should be providing homes, food, and all the other freebees they have been getting at the expense of Israel and the U.S.
The Land belongs to Israel, to the Jews, the offspring of Jacob’s twelve sons. Being stolen by mozlums of centuries ago, doesn’t alter that Truth.

Turkey wants to be the Muslim leader of a revived Ottoman Empire, aka Islamic Caliphate, against ALL Non-Muslims as taught in Islam’s Quran. Turkey, Iran, Egypt, and the 50+ Islamic Countries are enemies of America and the West.
Islam and its Muslims fund, promote, and practice ideological subversion, propaganda, bigotry, discrimination, deceit, supremacy, segregation, hatred, violence, and terrorism as taught in Islamic Law and in Islam’s Quran, and Muslim actions should be legally challenged with a multi-faceted force of Western Laws like Muslims wield against Americans and Westerners. Like a Foreign Terrorist Organization(FTO) designated by the USA Secretary of State, Islam is a MUSLIM TERRORIST ORGANIZATION(MTO) fighting against Non-Muslims and NOT A PEACEFUL religion under Western Law because Islam funds, teaches, and promotes a Terrorist, Criminal Organization with Muslims as Terrorists for Allah. Under Islamic Law, Muslims are required to terrorize Non-Muslims because it is a Crime against Allah to neglect this Muslim DUTY; Jihad means warfare against Non-Muslims to ESTABLISH ISLAM’S RELIGION(Quran 3:151; 9:29; Muslim Law Manual – “Reliance of the Traveller”, o9.0 and more). More specifically, Islam is a Muslim Terrorist Ideology and Murderous, Criminal Enterprise of intolerance, continuous war, discrimination, segregation, supremacy, genocide, polygamy, propaganda, deceit, hatred, incitement, sedition, rape, terrorism, and violence against all Non-Muslims as taught in the Quran(Quran 2:216; 4:65,89,95; 5:14; 8:12,39,74; 9:5,21,29,36, 41,49,88,111,123; 21:92; 49:15 and more).

So send all of the people in Gaza to Turkey. Problem solved.

If the Islamic Turkish politician wants to play that game, then Rome and the Catholic Church will reconquer the lost Empire of Byzantine. All Turkish people will then become Christian and Buddhist before the scourge of Islam infected Asia Minor and the Middle East. Thank God for the Crusaders. Constantinople will be ours again.

My try thoughts exactly. Turkey was once part of the Byzantine empire, so let’s free Constantinople—

The Ottoman Turks gave the district of Tiberias to the Jewish Duke of Naxos. Thus they admit that that region is Jewish property.
Given that the Arab States stole land five times the size of Israel from their Jewish citizens after the War of Independence, the neo-Ottomans must make good the loss from these other successor States and acknowledge Jewish sovereignty over land, chosen by Israel, in the same amount.

Former Turkish prime minister says Gaza was part of Ottoman Empire and so Gazans are Turkish citizens
………………………………….
As noted, this claim should alarm Israel, Greece, and Cyprus.
But another important point–generally speaking, Arab Muslims *hated* the Ottoman Empire–broadly speaking, for one quite valid reason, and one not so much. Firstly, the Turks despised the Arabs, and did not treat them equally. The Levant and Mespotamia were sparsely populated and generally neglected by Constantinople. This was certainly a valid grievance.
Then, sadly, the Arab Muslims were–and are–not that different from the Turks. They also believe that Arab Muslims are superior to Turkish Muslims, and closer to the vicious “Prophet” Muhammed.
But whatever one thinks of this antipathy, it is most definitely there. Most Arabs hated and despised the Ottoman Turks, and there were revolutionaly movements all across the Arab world when the Ottoman Empire started to totter after WWI. (Check out Lawrence of Arabia for a quick glimpse of the situation).
In any case, as much as the “Palestinians” hate Jews, few of them want to be under the thumb of the Turks again. But since Turkey backed Jihadist rebels in Syria and toppled Assad, Erdogan thinks he is on a role. Ottoman Empire 2.0 is his goal.
John Pepple says
Yes. My first reaction was to wonder how the Gazans will feel about being under Turkish rule.

Actually, the Arab countries are more cognizant of what Turkey is doing than Western countries. You’ll recall that when Turkey released a multi-season Teleseries on the father of the founder of the Ottoman empire, it was banned in every Arab country, although it was a hit in Azerbaijan, Pakistan and Bangladesh
Most of Turkey’s support in the ummah comes from the non-Arab muslims, who are 1.3 billion from the subcontinent, East Indies and some others, like Afghanistan. They do have a few Arab countries on their side as well, such as Algeria, Somalia, Yemen, Qatar and Libya’s GNA faction (the one that controls Tripolitania). The Arabs are of course alarmed at this, and have largely rallied behind Saudi Arabia. Although Egypt has recently started making overtures to Turkey
Somehow, once this Gaza issue, as well as the Judea Samaria issues are settled and Israel is safely out of the way, it would be interesting to watch a faceoff b/w Turkey and the Arabs. I doubt that Iran will still be a factor. Incidentally, if the Iranian regime falls, I expect Turkey to try to conquer it, since Iran was, for most of its islamic history, a part of myriad Turkic empires
Note that all of this makes Turkey, rather than Russia, the #2 threat to the Free world, after China. Russia has no real vassals except Belarus, whereas China has all the communist countries and Turkey has the countries/people I listed. Our foreign policies need to be designed w/ that in mind

Cursed those infidels who have strength to win over the weak Allah and the muslims who worship such weak Allah.
