Right after Former Canadian Human Rights commissioner Birju Dattani was appointed last June, calls rang out for his resignation. He ultimately did resign “after an investigation into his past comments related to Israel.”
The concerns that were raised included:
- In 2015, Dattani “spoke on a panel in the U.K. alongside a member of Hizb ut-Tahrir, an Islamic fundamentalist group that seeks to establish a new caliphate and opposes the existence of an Israeli state.” The member of Hizb ut-Tahrir was Adnan Khan, whose “writings were found amongst Osama Bin Laden’s papers by American special forces following their raid on his Pakistani compound in 2011.”
- “In 2014, Dattani spoke on a panel at a Turkish university with Osama Qashoo, a member of the Mavi Marmara flotilla who was arrested four years earlier for trying to breach Israel’s naval cordon of the Gaza Strip.”
- Dattani repeatedly lectured during “Israel Apartheid Week” at British universities about the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement.
- Dattani shared an article on X entitled “Palestinians are Warsaw Ghetto Prisoners of Today.”
- And Dattani’s earlier activities are reportedly “difficult to trace because he went by his middle name, Mujahid, during his academic years.” Mujahid is Arabic for a jihad warrior.

But now, he’s gone lawfare crazy, making himself out to be the victim. He’s not only suing Jewish Canadian MP Melissa Lantsman, but also the Jewish founder of Rebel Media, Ezra Levant.

Former Canadian Human Rights commissioner Birju Dattani is suing Conservative deputy leader Melissa Lantsman, accusing her and others of leading a “strategic, deliberate and malicious” campaign against him.
The lawsuits were filed on Monday in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and Dattani’s lawyer posted documents online.
“By spreading these poisonous allegations during a defining moment in Mr. Dattani’s career, MP Lantsman ensured that her false representations discredited Mr. Dattani,” according to the statement of claim.
Immediately after Dattani’s June 2024 appointment, Conservatives and Jewish advocacy groups condemned his selection and called for his resignation.

Maybe not the best person to appoint to a government position in charge of anything never mind “human rights” commissioner .He is free to write his “opinion ” that Israel is a” terror state ” or the plight of the poor ” refugees” that are Moslem ,but that his opinion might cause him not to be appointed to government office if he supports terrorist and violence. Canada has a different system than the U.S. The U.S. Constitution does not apply in Canada nor do U.S. laws.
FYI I do not intend to support the Liberal party in the next election but it seems to me that you have enough to be concerned about in the U.S. than care which political party is in control in Canada.

Maybe in the future if the course of Canada banking and politics does not change ,you might be sighted for” needless trouble” and have your accounts empty or frozen by government actions without trial or hearing..
