Aside from it being “legally irrelevant,” some people are genuinely concerned that Trump did not (apparently) swear on the Bible. Even more noticeable is the fact that many in the mainstream leftist media were immediately on this story like bloodthirsty vampires. When did they start caring about the Bible?
Melania could be clearly seen walking up with two Bibles for Trump to swear on. Why else would she be? One Bible was a family Bible given to him by his mother, and the second was an Abraham Lincoln Bible, so what happened? According to the article below, with video provided, “there was one minor snafu. Because Roberts started before everyone was ready, Trump ended up not placing his hand on the Bible. This was in contrast with his first swearing in.”
Roberts is known for another “snafu” on Inauguration Day, Obama’s in 2009:
During Obama’s historic swearing…in 2009, Roberts, who was reciting the oath from memory, said the word “faithfully” out of sequence. That word salad caused Obama to stumble, saying “that I will execute the Office of President of the United States faithfully.”
It should have been: I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States. A private do-over took place the next day to legitimize the precise oath.
Trump did not neglect to swear on the Bible, despite the left (again) trying to stir up trouble for Trump.
“Trump Didn’t Put His Hand on the Bible While Taking the Oath of Office (And It’s Legally Irrelevant),” by Aaron Walker, Twitchy, January 20, 2025:
As you surely know, Trump was sworn in as president, again, at close to noon today. Here’s video of that moment:
🚨 What the hell just happened?
JD Vance was sworn in at 12pm, with his hand on the Bible.

Ah … it feels so good. As someone said in the live chat, it’s the end of the Reign of Error.
But as this poster noted, there was one minor snafu. Because Roberts started before everyone was ready, Trump ended up not placing his hand on the Bible.
This was in contrast with his first swearing in, which you can see here:
Of course, Jonathan Turley was quick to give his analysis and to call back to another time Chief Justice Roberts flubbed things with the oath of office.

There is another reason. After Trump was shot. Trump says here’s become more religious. Now could the reason be as simple as he did not what to
put his hand on the bible and swear to god (At god)

Lefty’s crying again over something that wasn’t President Trump’s fault AS USUAL… They need to get back to their little lefty crèche & get their diapers changed 😭👶🚼🍼…

So Chief Justice Roberts has problems administering oaths, and doesn’t seem to have gotten better over time. And people blame Trump for it
Typical!

Maybe Roberts was distracted thinking of all the good times he now misses that had on Little St. James island.

Obama had to be sworn in a second time because he said the oath wrong. The rumor is the second time he did it on the Quran.

stephen colbert asked if Trump is ‘really president’ and perhaps Melania’s hat is.
Any little thing; while for four years they swore up and down and sideways that biden had all of his mental faculties.
They don’t even read the Bible, don’t believe it, and certainly don’t try to live by the commands written therein. They mock those who do. So what do they know? Very, very little. Mostly how to make a fuss over a nothing pebble, while allowing an avalanche to slide by without comment.

It’s fascinating that leftists suddenly find The Bible essential.
About a year ago you posted a link to physicists discussing their faith and I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to pass it along, but can’t find it. Do you remember the link? Thanks so much.

I think I know which one you mean. I’ll look for it.

You are welcome. There are others featuring Professor Meyer. Many pop up when the one is found.
“Beyond Evolution: Unraveling the Origins of Life…” is another.
And I also posted a link to a discussion Glenn Beck had with Dr. Hugh Ross; the cosmic guy who taught himself the Bible when he was a teen, growing up in an atheist home.
I don’t recall the guy you mention, James Tour.

To end the Leftist accusations he can always do “A private do-over took place the next day to legitimize the precise oath.” with his hands on his mother’s and Lincoln’s Bible for all to see.
“there was one minor snafu. Because Roberts started before everyone was ready, Trump ended up not placing his hand on the Bible.”
I dont look at it as a minor Snafu by Roberts. What was he rushing for? Seems a little amateurish to rush like that.
