Once again we see the extremely common connection between growing devout in Islam and committing an act of jihad violence. No, not all Muslims who are devout become jihadis. But enough do that it should be a cause for concern and a focus of study. It is neither, because of fears of “Islamophobia.”

Chris Pousson, 42, a retired Air Force veteran who also lives in Beaumont, said he attended middle school and high school with “Sham,” as he was known then, and described him as “quiet, reserved, and really, really smart.”…
They reconnected on Facebook after Mr. Jabbar got out of active-duty military service in 2015, at which point Mr. Pousson noticed that Mr. Jabbar had become deeply involved in his Muslim faith.
“Before, if he was into it, he wasn’t open or verbal about it,” Mr. Pousson said. But at that point, he said, Mr. Jabbar was making lots of posts about religion on Facebook. “It was never Muslim extremist stuff, and he was never threatening any violence, but you could see that he had gotten really passionate.”…

Is the ex-wife Muslim? Why did she leave him? How recently did they divorce? Was it before or after he got devout? How much wealth did he lose in the divorce? Are there children involved? Was he paying alimony? Was he paying child support?
I don’t mean to blame the ex-wife for Jabbar’s mass murder/suicide rampage. If anything, his spree killing of innocent strangers suggests that she was wise to get out of the marriage with her life. This JihadWatch article is the first to affirm what I had suspected, that Shameddin Jabbar was a convert to Islam. Weird that if, as his brother claims, they were both raised as Christian’s that both he and his brother have the same Islamic last name. I agree. It’s easy enough to claim they were “raised as Christians” and put some of the blame there. Throw people a curve ball, bring in Christian raising, and the public can be caused to see that the young male was ‘confused’ about spiritual/religious things so they won’t blame islam.
And I have met many Christians. Never with that name…first or last. He was ‘sham” in middle school….that wouldn’t be Christian then, if his name is connected to islam.

America is a melting pot. He was born here, his father was a Mohammedan, but his mother probably Christian. It is quite normal, even in islamic countries, that the kids get raised as Christians. So, that seems to be the explanation.
