Zakir Abdul Karim Naik popularly known as Zakir Naik, an Indian fugitive residing in Malaysia, who is infamous for disseminating his radical religious propaganda has once again attracted attention on social media due to his highly offensive comments amid the ongoing controversy over Pakistani Muslim grooming gangs in the United Kingdom.
He attempted to rationalize rape with one of the most bizarre statements, in an old clip that recently went viral online. The video was uploaded over a year ago by a YouTube channel called “EnlighteningEcho,” which consistently shares content related to Naik.
A question was posted by a man named Shafin Rashad from Kerala, India which read, “May Allah bless you! I have a query. May Allah forgive me if I’m saying something wrong. Allah is the most merciful and most gracious. If I rape a girl and kill her, but it is not proved in the court, resulting in my acquittal and freedom. After a long time, I truly repent for my actions before Allah as we know he can forgive all transgressions. However, if he forgives me too then where is the justice for the victim?
Notably, rather than unequivocally denouncing the atrocious acts of rape and murder, Naik resorted to convoluted explanations and ultimately ventured to offer a justification for the heinous crime. He first quoted a verse from the Quran and claimed, “It is Allah who has created death and life to test which of you is good indeed. So this life is a test for thereafter. We are being evaluated. Allah examines different people in different ways. He tests some people by giving them luxury or others through poverty.”
He informed the questioner, “You are correct. If an individual has committed acts of rape and murder but genuinely repents and seeks forgiveness, five essential criteria must be met. Firstly, one must acknowledge that their actions were wrong. Secondly, it is imperative to cease such behaviour immediately. Thirdly, there must be a commitment to never engage in these actions again. The fourth step involves seeking forgiveness from Allah. If all these conditions are satisfied, then, inshallah, forgiveness may be granted, even for grave sins such as rape and murder as he is the most gracious, the most merciful.”
Naik then proceeded to address the other facet of the inquiry and shamelessly indulged in victim shaming. He alleged, “Coming to the second part, I would say no because both (the perpetrator) are undergoing a test in this world. Let me explain to you that Allah has provided specific guidelines for women, advising them to dress modestly and to cover their bodies, with certain exceptions such as the face. If, hypothetically, a woman chooses not to adhere to these rules and instead dresses in a manner deemed immoral, which may provoke inappropriate reactions leading to an act of rape, then who should be blamed? It is the girl’s responsibility.”
He then attempted to downplay his outrageous comment but failed to hide his inner Islamist misogynist and added, “That doesn’t mean that the boy has the right to rape but besides him, the girl is also expected to observe the principles outlined in the Quran. She is accountable if she chooses to wear an outfit that could lead to such an act. On the other hand, if she is dressed decently and is still subjected to rape, the incident serves as a test for her. The critical consideration is whether she was following Allah’s recommendations concerning her attire. If she was not, she is responsible for attracting the rapist.”…

That rapist Shafin Rashad had a greater sense of morals than Zakir Naik: even he recognized that his victim wasn’t getting justice under the shariah dispensation. Zakir Naik’s response that both were being tested was just bizarre: now that she’s been raped, has she passed this “test”? If so, what was her reward. Similarly, if Shafin Rashad was also being tested, how about him? Or was he just allah’s instrument to test the girl he raped?

Zakir Naik is wrong. There is no rape in Quran, it is just a matter of halal sexual course or not. If the woman is halal, then it is not a rape if the man uses force to penetrate the woman. If the woman is not halal, then it is either fornication or adultery which must be punished harshly according to Islamic law, doesn’t matter if the man force the woman (or child) or not.
So, forcing women to cover their bodies is actually to protect the men from sins as muslim men are sex crazed animals who can not control their lust.

Muslim men may well be “ sex crazed animals who cannot control their lust” but let’s not give them any kind of psychological excuse- rape is a crime of violence, not primarily a lust driven act. (Example: a man raping a woman in her 80s).
And violence is, as we know, inherent in Islam. Anyone who would rape a child or have sex with animals is not driven by sexual lust.

I have seen in Malaysia and other parts of SE Asia where a five year old girl is covered from head to toe too protect her modesty so that she will not entice her Father, Brother or Cousin to rape her.
So it is not just women its also wee girls and if anybody sees sexuality in a five year old girl and gets sexually excited when seeing her bare knee or shoulder then I know what is wrong with that person but to blame the wee girls is merely talking zero responsibility of their own actions.
