A senior official at Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance has been removed from his position after photos surfaced showing his daughter without the mandatory hijab.
Saeed Eslamzadeh, who served as the public relations director of the ministry’s Arts Department, was dismissed following the circulation of photos taken during Yalda Night celebrations.
Fars News Agency reported that Eslamzadeh was also involved in the opening ceremony of the Ceramic Biennial.
At the ceremony, some attendees, including visual artist Bita Fayazi, who inaugurated the event, were reportedly seen without the mandatory hijab.
The controversy has extended to Nadereh Rezaei, the minister’s deputy for arts, who appointed Eslamzadeh to his position.
Fars News Agency reported that “many experts consider her background insufficient for this sensitive position.”…
