The city of Jabaliya in Gaza has been a key Hamas stronghold and a main target in Israel’s war on Hamas. An update: “IDF kills dozens of armed Hamas terrorists after having said Jabalya was nearly clear,” by Yonah Jeremy Bob, Jerusalem Post, December 30, 2024:
The IDF said on Monday that it had killed dozens more of Hamas terrorists in Jabalya only a day after it said that the terror group was nearly cleared out of the northern Gaza area.
According to the military, locating and killing the Hamas forces was made possible by a mix of ongoing intelligence collection, operations to trick the forces into an ambush, and both tank fire and soldiers’ nearby gunfire.
To date, the IDF has invaded Jabalya in fall 2023, again in May of this year, and again in October of this year.
By December 2023, the IDF declared Jabalya under operational control and Hamas’s battalions broken.
After the May invasion, the IDF said it had destroyed 12 kilometers of Hamas tunnels and killed between 300-500 terrorists, leaving the area relatively clear of Hamas….
That the IDF said on different occasions that Jabalya was nearly clear, only to be confronted by more armed Hamas jihadis, indicates the expansive reach of Hamas operatives in Palestinian territory; they have been living as ordinary citizens among the Palestinian people.
A Palestinian public opinion poll in March showed that “only seven percent of Gazans blamed Hamas for their suffering.” And 71% “of all Palestinians supported Hamas’s decision to attack Israel on October 7.”
With scores of reports circulating about how the people of Gaza are increasingly opposed to Hamas, angry, disapproving of, or don’t support Hamas, the question is this: why do seemingly endless numbers of Hamas operatives keep springing up despite the sustained retaliatory attacks against them over extended periods? Surely they are well known among the vast population, which has harbored them and protected them.
In the words of Israeli hostage Mia Schem:
“They’d enter the room (children of the family) from time to time to look at me as if I’m an animal. There are no innocent civilians there. Families there live under the Hamas.”
Cheers rang out in Gaza on October 7 as Palestinians in Gaza, Judea and Samaria celebrated, handed out candy and fired guns in the air.

Israel is well on its way to eliminating Hamas’ threat to its citizens. However, the news that “dozens more” of Hamas jihad terrorists in Jabalya appearing yet again, and this time “a day after it said that the terror group was nearly cleared out of the northern Gaza area,” points to an uncertainty about Hamas’ numbers in Gaza, and about how distinguishable they really are from the larger population.

Don’t like to say this, but the only way to deal with a group of thugs who would die to see you die, is to kill them firs. There are no peace negotiations with Islam. If they do agree to one, you can rest assured they are lying just like they’re living. Western govts need to stop thinking these are ‘good’ people. They most assuredly are not. And they should probably not start wars they cannot finish.
