🧵KEY THREAD: Gaza Fatality Final Estimates:
51,600 total deaths broken down as follows:
22,600 civilians
20,000 combatants
7,000 natural deaths
2,000 deaths caused by Hamas
Civilian/combatant ratio: ~1:1See detailed analysis after 15 months of close review: pic.twitter.com/EmQVOEl5w5

Not a genocide. Not even close. In reality, as we noted here many times, the Israelis had a better record of protecting civilians in Gaza than the U.S. did in Afghanistan and Iraq. The Big Lie was once again spread around the world, and Jew-haters eagerly embraced it.

Today’s media are very eager to spread lies. If they were really reporters, they would have some integrity and character. Not today. Of course there are some exceptions, but there are very few.
Hugh Fitzgerald says
Aizenberg says that 7,000 were “natural deaths.” A better way to describe those deaths is “non-combat-related” — meaning not just deaths from disease but also deaths from accidents. Prior to October 7, 2023 about 800 people were dying each month in Gaza. Using the same average, in the past 15 months of warfare 12,000 Gazan’s have died from diseases and accidents. That makes the civilian-to-combat ratio still more impressive. By my calculations the number of civilian deaths should be calculated as follows:
Total deaths as reported by Hamas 42,600
Combatant deaths 20,000
Minus deaths from non-combat related causes. 12,000
Deaths from Hamas and PIJ missiles that fell in Gaza 2,000
________________________________________________________
TOTAL CIVILIAN CASUALTIES KILLED BY IDG 10,400
CIVILIAN-TO-COMBATANT RATIO 10.4: 20:00
WHICH COMES TO ROUGHLY 1:2.
SUCH A RESULT IS UNHEARD OF IN THE ANNALS OF MIILITARY HISTORY.
WHY IS ISRAEL NOT MENTIONING THIS AT EVERY PRESS BRIEFING, IN EVERY INTERVIEW, IN EVERY RESPONSE TO THE NGOS, THE ICJ, THE ICC, THE UN?

Very important points, Hugh–this makes Israel’s protection of civilians in Gaza even more impressive.

In AP news articles, which is where Americans read Gaza casualty figures by the (Hamas) Gaza Ministry of Health, we are never shown any breakdown other than “most were women and children”. No male casualties are hardly or never reported at all. Neither Hamas or non Hamas men. We are lead to believe the male numbers of killed are either non-existent or minimal.
Thus we have no idea of how many Hamas people were killed. And we are never told how the so called Ministry of Health determines how civilian dead are distinguished from Hamas dead. Hamas does not wear uniforms and probably dress just like average civilian men.
So when you see a dead male you have no idea if it is a Hamas or a civilian.
Just by looking at a body, if they even do that, is an impossible method of making that determination so they forget the whole male death numbers and just write “most were women and children”. The whole number of dead cannot be trusted. We do not even know how they determine their numbers let alone count bodies. But that is less important then to just use numbers for propaganda purposes to frame Israel as a murderous , genocidal enemy of humanity.
For all we know numbers are made up or extrapolated from one incident however small the actual numbers were. So if after an attack there are 20 dead including 15 men, 3 women and 2 children, you discount the men as men but use them to inflate the women and children so they make the majority and then multiply that number by say 10 to account for all dead that day. Thus “Today 200 were killed mostly women and children”.
I say to the Ministry of Health “Prove me wrong by explaining IN DETAIL how you account for your 45,000 dead and how many were civilian men and how many were Hamas men”
Dan Dagovitz says
The IDF went too far in trying to protect “civilians” putting IDF soldiers at risk. The soldiers should be proud of their conduct, they performed excellently under ridiculous ROE.!
However, their Government (Israel) should be ashamed that when then had the opportunity to stop terrorism in Gaza the Israeli government allowed the evil cult of Islam to escape before destruction. The good news is that they are so out of control that they will break the truce and then it is going to be “Katie bar the door”.

Make Gaza greenhouses and desalinization plants (which probably means Israeli control) again.
I have absolutely no sympathy for Hamas. Were I undersecretary for Consular Affairs, I’d seek to place a visa moratorium–both non-immigrant and immigrant–on all Muslims from the Palestinian territory as a precautionary measure to enhance US national security. Were I one of Mr. Trump’s foreign policy advisers, I’d turn off all money to the PA and UNRWA.
However, I believe that drawing a fine line between combatant and non-combatant deaths in Gaza is not an easy task. Hamas has adopted the people’s war stance, which means all civilians under its control are potential combatants. For Israel to strike hard at Gaza’s civilians is unavoidable–just as our attempts at rural pacification in Viet Nam made military sense; and, to throw a bone to the Leftists, why the genocidal policies adopted by Communist VN and Laos towards the Degar and Hmong “make sense” (deplorable as they are).
The Sword and Wolf Age on us–initiated in no small part by Leftist revolutionaries–means that laws of war are now oxymoronic. Gone are the days when the younger sons of the gentry of country A would be put in charge of a brutalized, press-ganged riff-raff of their country to neatly line them up a few hundred yards from another country’s brutalized and press-ganged riff-raff under that other country’s younger sons of gentry to take pot-shots at each other with wildly inaccurate firearms a few safe miles from some rural village.
Hence, Hamas can hide its leadership behind ten-year-olds wearing suicide vests and appeal to our civilizational memory of 18th century warfare to cry rivers of tears over massive civilian casualties. Having the sympathy of our Leftist media, they are sure to get a hearing.

Darn near impossible.
How do you separate out the “peaceful Palestinian Gazans” – the vast majority of whom support Hamas – from actual Hamas combatants?
