Back in October, while Asif William Rahman was still a CIA analyst, he had access to highly classified information regarding Israel’s plans to retaliate against Iran for its Oct. 1 200-missile barrage against Israel. Why exactly Rahman had access to this information, which should have been available only to people with the highest possible security clearance, has never yet been explained. But he did have it, and he spread it far and wide, so that it ultimately came to the attention of the Islamic Republic, and Israel had to overhaul its plans. Now Rahman has pleaded guilty to leaking these documents and faces ten years in prison. The question remains, however: why did he do it?

His crime is no different than the one committed by Jonathan Pollard in 1984. For his efforts to defend Israel he was sentenced to life imprisonment, with the possibility of parole after 30 years. Obama refused Pollard’s request to visit his ailing father, and again refused Pollard’s request to attend his funeral. Clapper along with other so called “intelligence officials” made statements against his potential parole, but in 2025, the Federal Parole Board finally authorized his parole. Pollard eventually emigrated to Israel.
My question is, will Asif William Rahman be treated just as harshly or will the Department of Justice handle Rahman’s trial with kid gloves for fear of islamophobia accusations?

Bexarkat–with all respect–while Pollard did spy for a foreign government–surely a crime–he spied for an ally of ours. Israel was never going to use this information to harm the US or kill Americans.
Can you say the same of Rahman exposing information on Israel *to Iran*?
I take your points, but what Rahman did was far more harmful–and, moreover, was intended to be so.
