Brooklyn: Muslim activist says Muslims can’t be loyal to the country that invaded Iraq and Afghanistan

When one of this man’s followers commits a jihad terror attack, the cops will say they’re searching for his motive, but are sure that it had nothing to do with Islam. Yet Raja Abdulhaq explains the need to be disloyal to the U.S. government on the basis of his congregation’s Islamic identity.

In his December 27, 2024 Friday sermon at the Muslim American Society (MAS) youth center in Brooklyn, activist Raja Abdulhaq stated that Muslims in America and the West have been seen as a security threat to “the empire” since 9/11. He argued that the only way to prove their “Americanism” is by demonstrating loyalty to the American government’s security forces. Abdulhaq emphasized that Muslims should remain loyal to a “healthy society,” not to an empire that has invaded Iraq, Afghanistan, and is orchestrating genocide in Gaza. He said, “We can’t be loyal to that,” adding that if Muslims are loyal to such an “empire,” they are betraying their religion. He further explained that while the Prophet expanded the Muslim empire, it was not for colonization but to create justice. He concluded by asking, “Are we loyal to Allah and His message, or are we loyal to the empire that is destroying the world?”

Abdulhaq’s comments came in response to an Islamic event aimed at Muslim NYPD officers at the MCC Muslim Community Center in Brooklyn, where, Hassan Akbar had praised Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and Ismail Haniyeh, as well as Egypt’s deposed Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohammad Morsi in his December 20, 2024 Friday sermon.

Raja Abdulhaq, co-founder of the Quds News Network and former executive Director of Islamic Leadership Council of New York, previously delivered a Friday sermon at the Columbia University encampment in April 2024. He also participated in the People’s Conference for Palestine in Detroit in May 2024, on a panel titled “Palestinian Resistance and the Path to Liberation,” where participants praised the October 7 attack. In a September lecture at Muslim American Society (MAS) Staten Island Center, he said that the resistance in Gaza exemplifies Jihad.

Raja Abdulhaq: “We as Muslims in America and in the West, especially after September 11, we are seen as a security threat to the empire, and the only way for us to prove our American-ism is to prove that we are loyal to the security forces of this government, of this country.

Now, this doesn’t mean we should not be good citizens. This is part of our Islam, to be loyal citizens, but loyal citizens to a healthy society. Not loyal citizens to an empire that has invaded Iraq, killing one million people. Invading Afghanistan, killing thousands and hundreds of thousands of people. And today funding and orchestrating a genocide in Gaza. We can’t be loyal to that. If you are loyal to that, then, I’m sorry, you’re betraying your religion. You’re betraying the understanding of the religion that is about justice.

“We can’t be claiming that we are worshipping Allah, the praised and exalted, so we can please him. But at the same time… Or we claim that we want to make this world a better place because that is what we are supposed to do. That’s why the prophets, the praised and exalted, expanded the Muslim empire. This is why his companions opened up a lot of countries. And as we know, they opened up these countries not to occupy them, because as we know in Islamic history Muslims did not rule in the sense of empire, like colonial, Western colonial powers. They opened them to create justice and allow people to deal with themselves the way they see fit.

“Are we loyal to Allah, the praised and exalted, his message? Or are we loyal to the empire that is destroying the world? There is no easy way around it.”

  5. They why he is still in the US and probably a US citizen? If he has some self dignity, he should head to Afghanistan asap unless he is trying to do some jihad activity in the US.

    • We have the same problem in the UK, we are being invaded by fighting age young muslim men from muslim countries, once here they are treated like royalty, free house/hotel accommodation, free healt care, free dental care, free mobile phones, the list is endless yet our government take monies off the elderly, put taxes up, etc…do these young men appreciate, assimilate, hell no…there are over 80 shar’ia courts in the UK, no go areas, and if they dont get what they want??..wow, all hell breaks loose..so they leave their 3rd world country to come here and start making my country the same as the one they left…if they dont like my country or our culture, traditions etc, they need to leave or be deported..

  12. Uhh, where in the Quran does it say Muslims should be loyal to nations? It doesn’t; it says be loyal to your slavemaster – Allah – and reject the infidels. That indicates loyalty to the Western infidel nations is haram.

    Christians believe, “Give unto Ceasar that which is Ceasar’s and give unto God that which is God’s”, which entails loyalty to the nation.

    Western Politicians are too lazy to study Islam and so, become gullible dhimmis, handing out financial support and housing for a Hijrah movement of immigrants who will not fight in defense of the nation. They did not come here to support government. They are here to be government.

    Although my comments regarding the Left (Can’t call them Liberals, perhaps Fascists would be better) or Muslims come from direct experience. The Left is rigidly locked into comically ridiculous positions that any freedom loving person is sure to turn against. Islam, plain ans simple, is inherently evil. End of subject.

    I am a strong supporter of Israel for several reasons.

    One, modern Israel, they are a young nation is a boiling cauldron of evil Islamist’s. They need our help!

    Secondly, Israel is the Holy Land; We as Jews and Christians have an obligation to defend it from evil (Islam).

    Third, I have many friends in Israel, most are in the Greater Israel Settlements. These are the people that are threatened the most.

    Lastly, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ calls on me to defend Israel. Within my nation my oath to the Constitution means that I will always defend the Jewish citizens threatened by both the Left and Islam. My Oath to the Constitution did not end when I retired from military after 25 years.

    The man responsible for this site is a man of true character, a leader and teacher brave enough to do what is right as opposed to what is easy. It is an honor to know him. Surak may well be logical, but he is also a hero in his own way. We must protect people like him and his family as they are the treasures that make our country great!

    The US invaded Afghanistan because the Taliban were giving santuary ot Al Qaeda to plot 9/11. So–according tot this “Muslim activist”–Muslims cannot be loyal to the US because she defended herself against a Jihad terror attack that slaughtered almost 3,000 people, took down two of our most famous buildings, and damaged our defense center.

    So Muslims cannot be loyal to the US because we are–however sporadically–not lying down for Jihad conquest–in other words, they can never be loyal to us until we have surrended to Islam. That says it all.

    Islam promotes a religious war against unbelievers when Allah in Qur’an 49:15 says, “Surely the believers are only those who believed in Allah and his messenger. They do not doubt, and they performed JIHAD with THEIR MONEY AND THEIR LIVES for the sake of Allah. Those are the truthful.”

    Allah promises Heavenly Paradise for acts of killing when Quran 9:111 says, “Surely Allah has purchased from the believers[Muslims] their souls and their money so that they may have the garden[Heavenly Paradise]. They engage in war for the sake of Allah, so they kill and are killed…”

    Islam endorses Muslim acts of slaughter against Non-Muslims for not becoming Muslims as Allah in Qur’an 8:12 says, “When your lord revealed to the angels: ‘I am with you so make firm those who believed[Muslims]. I will cast a terror into the hearts of those who became infidels[Non-Muslims]. So strike above their necks(decapitation), and strike off(chop off) every finger from them.’”

  24. Past time to monitor all mosques in America considering that no vetting included the sharia question; is the sharia superior to the Constitution? Several members of Congress who have perjured themselves swearing allegiance to the Constitution yet push sharia. Wake up time!
